    As far as his Achilles tendon injury remember Marino had a less than ideal repair of his Achilles and still played for six more years. The surgery is definitely better now, recovery times are less and Cousins, like Marino is a pocket passer so he doesn’t need to be able to run well

    His playoff stats are good in the playoffs, the defenses can't stop other offenses in the playoffs. The Vikings defense gave up over 30 points a game easily in the last playoff losses. That's Kirks fault though using Purple Daily logic

      There is a lot of people who just hate Kirk. It's not his play or money they just don't like him.

    • @karma99
      @karma99 7 месяцев назад

      Everything is connected, the more you pay Kirk the less you can pay for defence to stop these teams in the playoffs. In that case Kirk and co. have to score more points to make up the difference. Btw, Giants fan here, I've nothing against Cousins.

    • @FriendsofTaz
      @FriendsofTaz 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@karma99 I understand that as well, which is why my biggest concerns are the interior offensive line and the entire defensive line. I know we need to have a solid quarterback as well, but if the team can't do anything then the quarterback really won't matter. There is only one Mahomes, so every other franchise needs to build a team, including the Vikings. I am of the belief, that Kirk can see that the Vikings will be one of his best opportunities to win a Lombardi trophy, so I think that he is waiting to just see other offers, because we live in a capitalist society, and as well as the union expects players to make as much as they can because it's better for the entire league, but I feel Kirk is going to just see what the offers would be so that he can come back to Minnesota and say I could have gotten this, and the team should arguably pay me this, but if I take less with some guarantee, then the team can be built, and maybe we can have a shot at whipping Mahomes in a Super Bowl. But I've been wrong before, lol

    • @karma99
      @karma99 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@FriendsofTaz Sure, I've no complaints with that. It boils down to what you think you can achieve with him. If you think he can win a SB for you as you are then you back him all the way.
      If you think he needs help then you need to look at how much you have available to bring that help in. The question is can you get him the help he needs, with the amount of money you have left after paying him?
      I don't know the Vikings situation, so you'll have to work that out without me :)

    Quarterbacks can't win games by themselves. This was the first year that Cousins has had the same offensive coordinator two years in a row and the defense wasn't in the bottom half of the league----this is the only year that has happened his entire career. Mahomes and Brady never won a Super Bowl with a bad defense. Just saying....

  • @blujayhill

    In my experience, injuries happen when you're upping your game. Kirk was responding to pressure & pushing himself. Why aren't there more performance based contracts? Couldn't you pay say $28 & load it with incentive bonuses based on staying healthy etc? Wouldn't that give you room to bring in a rookie too?

  • @robe2504
    @robe2504 7 месяцев назад +3

    Correction Jeremiah - the Vikes won't save any 2024 cap space by moving on from Kirk. There are future implications of an extension, but the choice in 2024 is cut Kirk and take a $28.5m dead cap hit in 2024, or extend Kirk for about a $28.5m 2024 cap hit. Both scenarios cost the same this season, but in one you have a starting QB, and in the other you don't. The real issue is how do you get out from Kirk in 2025 if your rookie QB is ready to start then? Hence Kwesi not wanting to guarantee 2025.

    I think The Kirkster is a dying breed of QB in the NFL. Pocket Passer Type. The guys are right about the NFL is Blitz happy. That calls for QB's who can move out of the Pocket and make plays. Cousins covers up that deficiency well; he's a Top End Pocket Passer QB. And Father Time is catching up to The Kirkster. It does to every player.

    I love how we have ONE game a year where he looks "elite" when the 8 games before he was a deer in head lights who manages to hit a schemed wide open Jefferson a few times all the while being responsible for 8 turn overs in those 8 games. He is the living definition of QB fools Gold. If he played like he did in the 49ers game EVERY game and cost a bit less, sure, keep him, but we have a decade + of evidence that tells us he either cant or wont.

    • @FriendsofTaz
      @FriendsofTaz 7 месяцев назад +2

      Ok, most of these highlights were of Addison. Not Jefferson. Having a scheme that works is a good thing not a bad thing. Kirk was not responsible for the fumbles, dropped passes, and interceptions that occurred because the ball bounced off the receivers' hands. He also wasn't on the IOL that couldn't produce a run game to ease the pressure. But blame Kirk, it's the Purple Daily mantra after all
