- Small boats are so much fun to fish from! Every time we are out on or 17' Whaler, Encore Lite, it feels like you are in the water when you're fishing. The downside - she's a small boat and everything is magnified on a breezy day and a bumpy ocean. In this video, we demonstrate how to deploy and use a sea anchor to position the bow of the boat directly into the sea and reduce the rock and roll effect that makes it tougher to fish on a small boat when it's blowing. It also enables you to fish out of the back of the boat while the boat is drifting, just like the big boats do. When you get a bite, simply pull the sea anchor with the trip line and you can easily go after the fish if you need to with all of the remaining lines already out of the back of the boat. The sea anchor we used in the video is 78 inches and the fabric is heavy duty with reinforced stitching on the bridles. It can be also be stowed easily in a 5 foot bucket for easy storage when you're not using it.
