How Great Shooters Get Open Shots in Basketball

- If you are a shooter, the way you space and move on the court is going to depend on one thing, how aggressively are you hunting shots? Gradey Dick and Jordan Hawkins are two of the best examples of college players in the past few years who constantly were hunting 3 point shots.
A lot of younger players have commented that they struggle with spacing. They don’t know where they should be on the court. I want to show you two dynamic shooters who don’t necessarily follow the common rules of spacing to prove that how you move on the court is all about making split second reads.

great video! I was thinking it would be cool if you could put together a shooting workout that's similar to what you did to get to the level you played at in college.
Yes I'll look into this. In the mean time, there is so much good workout content all over RUclips!
Fire vid as always🔥 can you do some breakdowns about the European basketball?
Yeah I definitely want to get into that. Do you have a favorite league or team?
@@TuckerRichardson actually I have a big interest in the basketball champions League and ofc the euroleague. I would say my favourite team for breakdowns would be real Madrid. a favourite player would Campzzo and his style of play.
thank you so much🙏 amazing videos keep up the hard work.
@@TuckerRichardsonfor sure olympiacos in euroleuge

Okay very cool, I have a vid coming out this weekend that focuses on NBA but is for all of basketball, but after that I am going to dig into some Euro stuff because there is a clearly an interest for it!

Thank you will do!
Love your channel! Keep posting it helps a ton you don’t even know! You’re gonna be big one day
Thank you!!
love it keep doing this
Thank you!
really good tips... please keep making these videos.
Thank you, that is the plan!
I think it would be a good idea to talk about how much the skill of figuring out what is happening sooner than other players matters and can compensate for less speed.
A few examples would be things like being the first one to fight for rebound position on a shot. Being the first one to start running in transition. Being quick to recognize defensive breakdown so that your help rotation is early rather than late.
great idea. as a player i've never been the most athletic in my team, i'm just an average level of athleticism shooting specialist. i've always compensated for that lack of athleticism with instincts and court awareness. have your switch on at all times, players who react fast are really valuable.
I like this idea. Basically if you can react to situations a split second faster than your opponent you can get a big advantage. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for another great video with great strategies!
You are welcome!
Thanks for another awesome video keep it up❤
Thank you! Will do!
Love this vid, can you do a video on your favorite/great mental and physical warmups pregame/pre-practice?
I think pregame is super important so will look into this.
love this
Thank you!
Great breakdown 🙌
Thank you!

Let's go! Good luck with everything!

Let's go!@@hooper_cooks13
Tucker your videos got me a starting spot on jv
Let's go! It was clearly mostly if not all because of you, but I appreciate it.
This was just the video I needed. I’m a decent shooter but I’m always confused on where to stand and move to get open. Thank you for this I’m sure it will help.
Perfect, glad I could help!
Great video! Would love a video on how to best read the ball coming off the rim for rebounds, and also how as a smaller player should I go to the lane?
Thank you!
Nice game against Lahti yesterday. 29 points. Lots of 3's.
Thank you!
This is a great educational video. Can you make a video on how to train alone? It would really help me out.
Yes, that is a great idea!
Good vid, I think off ball play is so underrated. Imagine being elite scoring on and off ball while being a good playmaker.
Perfect offensive player right there……Steph Curry
Agreed, Steph has all of those traits.
Your a great shooter and was wonder if you have a by yourself shooting workout if so what does it consist of
My workouts change, so its not like I only do one workout everyday. However I will say when I get shots up, it consists mostly of shots I would get in game situations, and a lot of shots on the move. I try not to do too much stand still catch and shoot stuff because I want it to be more game like.
why was the guy on the top left so mad for in 3:54
They let Jordan Hawkins get a 3 up?
How do I become a great shooter like these guys? My form is mid
Well, if you need to work on your form, you should probably be looking at what the best shooters do and try and replicate it. Notice their hands, their feet, their eyes on every shot. All these little things can help you improve your shot, along with having confidence of course!
Can you do a breakdown of some middle school film next?
Hmmm, maybe will look into doing film breakdowns of younger players.
@@TuckerRichardson alright bet
@@TuckerRichardson I sent you some and am in middle school
Shooters shoot
Exactly. Easiest way to put it.
I can do this for a little while but my teammates miss me sometimes(I play off ball most of the time) and I want to conserve energy for defense. Do I just try to improve my stamina and If so, how? Thanks man.
Yeah, that is why I said not everyone should play like Hawkins where he sprints around the court all the time. However it is more about being ready to shoot and finding open spots so that when your teammates do find you, you can make the most out of each situation. I get that though, I have also been on teams where I just didn't get the ball in open spots.
Love your stuff man@@TuckerRichardson
@@TuckerRichardsonsame thing happens for me when I’m playing pickup they don’t find me or aren’t passing me the ball if I’m open but that also might be because I usually dwell on misses rather then just getting it back on defense
I have my first game in 2 days, i wanna make my game and impress my coach
Good luck!
@@TuckerRichardson thanks!
Gradey Dick is a questionable thumbnail
Well, he is an elite shooter...
First.😀
Very nice.
