U gotta crawl before you walk. He is doing just fine. He just started interviewing, it takes experience and repetition to build a skill. The more interviews he does the better he will become. Some ppl are naturally great interviewers and some get better with practice and time. But great constructive criticism. He will see this and maybe give him details on what he specifically needs to work on and not just a general work on interviewing skills. That will help him grow.
