    I own and love the Pro Junior III, and both amps sound different from each other but each so incredible. In my opinion, volume-wise-- neither are a bedroom amp. They are SO loud, and more than enough for a live gig.

    Just picked up a used Tweed Pro Jr. IV to check out based on my love for Fender amps like my '68 Custom Princeton Reverb. Looking for sweet Fender cleans at living room volume. I'm surprised to see a Jensen alnico in a 15-Watt amp I can snag for < $500 used. I have lower-wattage amps for rock'n'roll at 85 to 90 dB, and if that doesn't satisfy - this amp budget might leave room for a Tone King Ironman ii or similar high-quality, moderate power attenuator that could also be used with the Princteton. And which would open the door to even larger and more unruly Fender amps like the '57 Custom Deluxe Reissue or a '65 Deluxe Reverb . . . :o) 👍

  • @peetsblues
    @peetsblues 6 лет назад +3

    All my amps have Jensen speakers. (BJr3, PJr4 and an old Champ 12 c22k) always go for Jensen with my Les Pauls. The PJr4 have a little problem with shaking knobs. Only put elastics around each knobs and simply get fixed (no more mobile plastic pièces vibes anymore) . I always play straight. They all have similar sound. I crank tone and use the neck pickup. If i can play enough loud on my gig, i always go for the PJr4.
    Nice video guys!

    I've got BOTH of these (and would not trade either). I found the III a bit too harsh and swapped out the Eminence with the Jensen, which to my ear mellowed it nicely. At home I run them through a Weber MicroMass, cuz... eardrums. At gigs, the IV has a lot more punch and a real sweet, foamy breakup.

  • @seamanjive

    Played a pub gig with my PJ MK1 (Usa) last week. I installed a Jensen Alnico speaker. Run Vol on 9, tone on 11. I used a strat last week, turn the guitar vol back a bit, tone back to knock off any harshness...that's it, mild crunch vol down, big of vol up, tone to taste. Sounded even better with an original SolaSound ToneBender fuzz in front....
    For early breakup stick in a pair of EL844s, yes 844s.

    Personally, I like the v. 3 better. It's a bit hairier, with more oomph in the bass frequencies. V. 4 is the clean, shaven professional: less brash, more dapper; decked out in suit and tie. It's also crispier, so it's kind of like comparing fried chicken and a bloody rib-eye, I would say.

      Yeah having owned a few lll's and now the lV I was pleasantly shocked what awesome cleans it has and how quiet she runs. It doesn't quite grind like the lll everything is a trade off. All in all I prefer the lV if I want killer grind I just fire up my ac10.

    I love how everyone has a different ear and just like music taste, everyone has a tone taste too.
    To my ear: The black one sounds a bit more tight, neat and neutral while the tweed is a bit more raspy and mean
    It also sounds like the eq is calibrated a bit differently. I'd add a bit more bass and mids on the tweed than on the black one

      It’s also what device we are listening through. A nice sparkle can be great until you’re playing rhythm in a band and struggle to smooth out the tone…while to me a sound like the iii would just need a treble boost for solos. Both beat out the boxy sound of the Blues Jr I had. (odd considering the smaller speaker)
