One of my great Uncle's, Lester Allen, was involved in this range war. He was on the side of the small ranchers. He was a relative Janette Allen who married Jack Langrishe in Deadwood, SD. Jack Langrishe had the opera house in the Bella Union Hotel that was shut down for the trial of Jack McCall for the murder of Wild Bill Hickock. Uncle Lester left after the Johnson County War and came to Hell's Canyon on the Snake River to mine Gold. Jack and Janette settled in Warden, Idaho where he became a Senator to the first Idaho State Legislature. An interesting bunch
Love this channel! As a lover of all history, having a small RUclipsr specialize in the history of the West is such a luxury! Especially since small RUclips channels that focus on history are a passionate and dedicated bunch
Fantastic job! Your video was engaging from start to finish. You clearly put a lot of effort into creating this content, and it paid off. Keep up the great work!
Travis, your style, attention to detail, conciseness... and the way you tell it straight but we know what your opinion is... you are teaching this Tasmanian* a lot about American history. (*another place with brutal frontier history).
Another excellent video..i am from wyoming and greatly appreciated the history topics that you discuss.. what about wyoming outlaws? Anyway I greatly enjoy your channel and thanks again
Seems similar to the Hatfields and mccoys.im not too far from Buffalo and have hunted along the broder to the north of here, powder river area is very beautiful.
Glad to see you back! This will be an interesting story! Although it’s been panned as one of the worst movies ever made, I think Heavens Gate tells this story well.
I’ll be honest, if they didn’t concentrate so much on the love story and filler, the rest of the movie would have been great! Chris Walken and the scenes with the Stock Growers made it worth watching.
I liked this video. Thanks. It's harder today for rich men to steal poor people's property, but not impossible. Abuse of Eminent Domain has been used in the recent past to evict residents from homes that they've owned and the real estate is then sold at a discount to a developer. It's also harder for career criminals to gain political office, but not impossible.
Another good one sir ! Thank you question are you a history teacher ? You know to much about the west to just be a construction worker... THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.....

Good one. If the US hadn't 'separated' from Britain it would have been settled in a far more orderly, law-respecting way & become a more peaceable less violent country, comparable to Canada & Australia. Also slavery would never have become so vast & disastrous - see Canada/Australia/New Zealand! Frankly, a much more amiable & moral country to live in. Ah, well...
I've watched six videos today about the range war and this was by far the most detailed of them all

Regulator-Moderator War of East Texas is another one you should cover. Read about Elder William Brittain and the Poisoned Wedding supper. LOL
Supposedly the historical backdrop to the infamous "Heaven's Gaye" [1980].
I am old enough to remember when Heaven's Gate was released and utterly panned. Now , in 2024, I have watched for first time and consider excellent.
Thanks! Another great presentation of well researched history, Travis. Have a cup on me.
Glad to hear from you again!

Wild how cyberpunk the early westward expansion was.

I should note that Janette Allen was a Great Granddaughter of Ethan Allen of American Revolution fame.
Oh boy… here comes the Range War!!
And it went to the presidency...that's how butch Cassidy got framed for that slick colt.
Well apparently it was my 4 great grandpa that was part of the reason this started, Nathan bragg
I live in Kaycee were nick ray and Nate champion were surrounded and shot down
