I’ve been sent back to lumby 3 times during this quest. I trained magic to get to 40 for crumble spell but I feel like I focus too much on trying to poison him and then I get smacked by the mine carts and the cranes. By the time I get the fungus back to the mine cart my grave stone has already disappeared 😢 and I let death have my gilded pick axe just so that I wouldn’t have to go back
Thanks for the guide... I was a combat 77, used Iban blast, ran around like a chicken with my head cut off and took more damnage than I had to but it was still fun and simple enough.
I found this boss so much harder than I was expecting. Died 3 times (combat lvl 78) and the only way I finished it was by wearing full armour and using Iban Blast. Good luck to anyone else attempting this!
The fact you have to go through the entire guide when you die just to get back to your stuff was so frustrating but thanks to how quick you run through everything I managed to reach my gear in time to pick everything up and take a second whack at it. Of course I whooped the boss' ass! :D

I've been following these guides for 151 QP now and this is the first time I've died to anything. Not putting blame anywhere - just trying to say that it's a tougher boss! Definitely bring melee gear/wep and cumble undead spell is really nice. Prayer pot and the best food possible are needed.
At 10:47, I noticed my character also stops before the lift going down. I think it automatically makes the character pause/delay to climb, i had to reclick again when i got there.
For anyone who happens to read this it is best to use magic with some form of platebody armor set as the range chip damage from the pickaxes/carts and cranes adds up really fast without it.
if youre using runelite the quest helper plugin just tells you exactly which levers you need to hit. Didnt even need to look at the schematics lol. Also I just finished the boss fight only used 2 lobsters :)
Never done this quest but I'll give my opinion. If you have base 60 melee with so-so to decent melee gears, this boss fight is a piece of cake. I used dragon dagger poison and only used 3 sharks and I wasn't even conserving food, I was just eating it even at mid-high health. My stamina drained off due to the boss running so a stamina potion is going to help you stay running.
PSA: Wear armor! I tried first wearing mage gear because I thought it would help me kill him faster. It didnt help at all and i was getting alot of damage dealt to me. Tried again with armor and it wasn't nearly as hard. Beat him at 77 combat using Iban Blast. Only ate like 5 sharks.
This boss was hard, and I died the first time. But instead of giving up I went back and wrecked his ass. I even got my stuff back as it had not despawned. Don't give up!

The boss (or room) hits VERY hard. If you can't kill the boss like me because you run out of food, try this: Suicide in the boss room with a full invent of food and pick it up before 15 minutes run out. Then come back with full boss gear and food and pick up your food of the ground. Also mind the despawn time of the food to not lose it while fighting the boss. Full melee armor and crumble undead works great here since the boss has negative mage defence anyway. Gl brothers
my total combat is 77, base 60 in all combat related stats. I went in with full red d'hide, 1 pray pot, 1 magic pot, crumble of dead, and a inventory full of pizza and sword fish. I ended with no food and 2 hp left. This boss was way harder then I was expecting, slayermusiq made it look easy.
I did this with Lvl 61 ranged and a rune crossbow. Got him down to 1/3 Hp before I ran out of food and prayers and had to tp out. I underestimated this boss thinking I didn’t need prayer potions or food that heals high so I brought salmon and got fucked.
Got the idea from another guide, but this boss is very easy to kill with a Dark Bow with dragon arrows. Dark Bow fires 2 arrows at once, so does its special, and Dragon arrows make its special stronger than it normally is. Long recharge time doesn't matter since boss teleports constantly. Special consumes 55% so you can fire it twice for huge amounts of damage. From the videos I've seen, this seems to be more effective than killing him with magic.
great guide as usual, just thought id mention no point in bringing recoil ring if you have protect range. just for potential hc's out there weighing ring options
This boss was wayyy harder than expected (im low lvl-67) . Recommend just wearing melee and only using crumble undead otherwise it'll splash alot. Avoid minecart at all costs and bring prayer pot and fill the rest w good food. Thanks for the guide slayer, really helped in the caves.
I fought the boss with magic when I was combat 60ish and got absolutely destroyed. Came back as a combat 93 and used melee. Filled my inv with food, prayer pots, and stamina pots. I only used one dose of stamina pot and nothing else. Btw I had on full dharoks, abyssal whip and drag sq shield. Thanks for all your help slayermusiq!
Just beat it first try, wanted to comment for anyone else that if you're a bit overleveled, it's much easier. Like the pinned comment says I actually decided to go with melee (slash) with dragon halberd and the best level 60 def armor I could bring, brought prayer pots, stamina pots, and cooked karambwan and cheese potatoes. Keep protect from ranged on, focus on maintaining health, stamina and prayer without wasting food; and pathing to the boss while not chilling on tracks and you'll be aight if you're like me. Probably could've done it sooner but I was nervous having never done it before.
I overprepared for this fight so it was really easy. My setup was using dragon dagger(p++) and melee armour. First drink stamina potion and super combat potion. Then for the whole fight use Protect from Missiles and Ultimate Strength pray whenever you reach him. And everytime you reach him you are able to use the spec att. He'll go down very quickly but still bring some good food and 1 prayer pot.
63 cb with 50 melee stats 50 range and 49 magic. I had splitbark armor with a fire shield and addy gloves and a dust battlestaff. I used one prayer pot, one stamina pot, one magic pot and the rest were sharks. I was using crumble undead. was out of prayer and food when i got the final hit on him... TALK ABOUT LUCKY! DONT GIVE UP IT TOOK ME THREE TRIES!

Holy balls, using Iban blast on the boss makes the battle EASSYYY I was so worried about the fight, but I repeatedly struck like ~30 damage on him and it became more about chasing him around.
@arch btw No, Treus Dayth is especially weak to Iban blast, and I did this with only level 50 magic. At level 50 magic there's only one equipable trident, and that trident can't cast any spells. For tridents you would have to grind for 25 magic levels, and then spend a fair sum of money to get a trident to use, where the Iban Staff is pretty much free as a quest reward and comes pre-charged.
@arch btw Prove me wrong. I repeat the boss has a weakness to Iban Blast, causing Iban Blast to hit harder than normal targets. The OSRS wiki supports this.
For any ironmen who have failed this quest do not be discouraged. I failed once adn then went in again with my bis gear. Initiate salet. gnome amultet, ardy cape, lava staff, addy platechest, green dhide legs, rainbowboots from the security place, iron gloves and a anti dragon shield and lobbies.
Managed to beat the boss in 2 tries at level 65 combat using only melee at level 34 prayer. Brings all the sharks you can fit, 2 stamina 4/4 potions, 1 prayer 4/4 potions, full rune with a 2h and the rest should be a cake walk (avoid the mine carts are ALL costs, only reason I lost the first time). If only the rest of the quest wasn't so tedious... Bringing a teleport out is worthwhile if things start to go south.
Good quest guide. You might add that even for high levels bring plenty of food and good gear. Im CB103 and went in graceful with minimal food since i thought prayers would be fine but apparently protect from missiles doesnt work on the throwing attacks.
A tip for anyone doing this, don’t worry about the boss, the boss is very easy, it’s the room that gets you, make sure to always pay attention to your pathing and not to walk into any dangerous spots

Hey I appreciate how you make all these quest guides it’s awesome :) I’m 16 and started playing OSRS recently and I want to say that it’s cool that’s you explained the quests very well :)
To do this the easy way wear full plate gear + a staff/shield full inv of food 1 prayer pot(4) 1 stam pot(4) only bring runes to cast Crumble Undead and chase him around and he should die very fast, i did this after trying a bunch of other ways and this seemed to be the easiest as i still had half an inventory of food after the fight! good luck out there.
I highly recommend NOT using melee armour or anything I'm not sure if I missed that in the video but you absolutely NEED mage armour and weapon otherwise you're just gonna be clicking everywhere without landing hits!! I thought I'd still be able to use crumble undead still but it wasn't having it ahaha
I was very lucky. On my first run I just got obliterated. I didn't even know where the boss is lol. On my second try, thanks to this video, I made it with 4 HP left. 1 more tick and I would be dead. I am level 63 combat level. I used rune armour and rune scimitar. I had prayer of ranged protection on at all times. I ate monkfish almost everytime I was chasing the boss after he teleported. Got really lucky. So happy I don't have to get this mushroom again. Oh my god.
I got to the end where you chisel the purple crystal but forgot chisel so banked... every time I go back down the stairs it is pitch back and says I need a source of light and I can’t complete this quest? Anyone know how to resolve this
Don't be like and forget to pickpocket the key and go outside with the fungas because it turns into a pile of ashes... Basically restarting from the beginning.
So tell me though why the hell do protection prayers not work on the thrown pickaxes? Plus does anybody else's character stop moving when they get hit by the picks?
remeber this as one of the hardest bosses while getting quest cape on my main, did it on my alt now with bandos, primordial boots, amulet of torture, berserker ring and bludgeon and 110 cmb lvl. Didn't eat once, but was seriously worried before the fight :P
@@BlackRavenflash Haha no, not at all. I was just very over prepared cause I did it when I was really low level my first time. But I think you will be fine with 51 combat and normal gear. Just do as he says about standing next to it and melee it. Also bring prayer potions and a lvl 3 could do it :)
my glowing mushroom turned to ash i think while fighting the boss... i could still fight the boss and whatever but later when going to the final room, it said it was to dark… gotta go get a new one
this is an oversight by me, you will have to replace the mushroom in the cart, go upstairs, go back down and collect it, and try again. I highly suggest not using mage if you have like above 80cb

I'm level 88 and had no trouble beating the thing to death with a silver sickle I got from In search of myreque. I only had 5 sharks too

I had to put the fricking fungus in the cart like 4 times because the boss fight almost killed me and I had to gear up again...
if u cross the broken crossbow just know that it's owner did cross that finish line another day.

I got to the end where you chisel the purple crystal but forgot chisel so banked... every time I go back down the stairs it is pitch back and says I need a source of light and I can’t complete this quest? Anyone know how to resolve this

So tell me though why the hell do protection prayers not work on the thrown pickaxes? Plus does anybody else's character stop moving when they get hit by the picks?

Watched this video and another about 3 times each to prepare for the fight. Died within the first 2 minutes
so i have the key, when i try to go into the crystal mine stairs it says its too dark down there

remeber this as one of the hardest bosses while getting quest cape on my main, did it on my alt now with bandos, primordial boots, amulet of torture, berserker ring and bludgeon and 110 cmb lvl. Didn't eat once, but was seriously worried before the fight :P
Did you really need all that? I'm currently combat lvl 51 about to attempt this quest
@@BlackRavenflash Haha no, not at all. I was just very over prepared cause I did it when I was really low level my first time. But I think you will be fine with 51 combat and normal gear. Just do as he says about standing next to it and melee it. Also bring prayer potions and a lvl 3 could do it :)

Don't use fairy ring if you have less than 50 agility
Use BKR not BIP
HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO WEAR DEFENCE ARMOR AND MELEE AND USE PRAYER AND A WHOLE LOT OF FOOD!

my glowing mushroom turned to ash i think while fighting the boss... i could still fight the boss and whatever but later when going to the final room, it said it was to dark… gotta go get a new one

Don't do any random events when you have the fungus.
did they disable the minecarts in the boss room? ive stalled this quest for so long just to find out nothing was moving xD
you will need a light source if you fail the boss fight and have to return.
this is an oversight by me, you will have to replace the mushroom in the cart, go upstairs, go back down and collect it, and try again. I highly suggest not using mage if you have like above 80cb
make sure ur iban staff charged or u gone see what hell looks like
MELEE was the best way to go man that was a tough boss even used super combat potion
