    This is the third review I have seen for this unit today and must say, it’s consistent in all areas. Ticks all the boxes. But I doubt we will see one on our shores. We don’t seem to have a local importer/distributor. Too small a market. Still, I think the Kemper’s new Liquid profiling allows one to do an improved level of changes on the fly.

    Can you go into more detail about how you programmed your patches with the loop switcher and midi? Also, I’d love to know the details on that flashback mod

    • @DanLeggatt
      @DanLeggatt  10 месяцев назад +1

      Sure man. The Friedman is so easy to program by midi. Just send a midi program change into it, select what you want via the footswitches and hold the boost to save. The only loops I’m using on the switcher is for the compressor and Zoom fx unit. Very easy to program anything if I need to change it.
      The flashback mod - the flashback switch is momentary. If you have a switcher that can send out momentary relay commands (like for amp switching) you can tap the 2 contacts from the switch and add a jack that will also activate the bypass in the flashback. The beauty of the mod is that it lets the spillover of delay when bypassed and the switch on the unit also still works.

    Dumb question😂. Besides the ir and tubes, what's the difference than this and the be deluxe pedal if using a tube poweramp into a cab? Love the channel

    • @DanLeggatt
      @DanLeggatt  11 месяцев назад

      Not a dumb question at all mate. From what I know, the BE deluxe is voiced to be used into the input of an amp. The output level and EQ is for that sole purpose. Although you could use the BE deluxe into a power amp, I don’t imagine it would sound all that great and you would have to crank the level.
      The IRX is designed to hit a power amp or go direct. It is a tube preamp, very much like the one found in the Smallbox head from what I’ve heard. While I think it’s possible to use this in front of an amp, the pedals like the BE deluxe, DS, SB & BE would be a better option in that role.

    • @DanLeggatt
      @DanLeggatt  11 месяцев назад +2

      Should sound absolutely fine. Just like your classic 50 generally, it will open up more at higher volumes, perhaps ‘smooth out’ a bit like most tube amps but it should still sound great 👍

    @mikekline-fc8ox 11 месяцев назад +1

    • @DanLeggatt
      @DanLeggatt  11 месяцев назад +2

      Totally depends on your use. This pretty much has 4 channels or tones instantly recallable. That’s more than most amps. If you need more than that you are already in the digital modelling world, which this isn’t.

    • @marekgitarzysta5193
      @marekgitarzysta5193 6 месяцев назад

      Exactly. This is not yet another multix fx/ modeller. This is an amp replacement. An amp. Singular. For those people who can still remember concerts with real amps. You would have to adjust the amp settings as well "back in the day"!
      And people just don't get it. They keep comparing this to fully fledged, programmable modellers.

    Hey dude, thanks for putting this together. I just ordered one and am trying to get an idea of how the IR-X is used with a loop switcher if the IR-X is supposed to be used in the effects loop of a tube amp? The manual says that the IR-X return should go into the return loop of the tube amp, but if you do, how do you connect the loop switcher to where it can control the IR-X? Did you have to get a splitter in order to do your setup?
    I'd basically like to have my guitar go into my tuner, then have the IR-X in the effects loop of the amp with the loops of the ES-5 having reverb/delay/modulation pedals in them and the IR-X channels being controlled via midi.

    • @DanLeggatt
      @DanLeggatt  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hey man! The best way to think about the IRX is as a replacement preamp for your amp. It won’t be ‘in the fx loop’, you are using the fx return to use your amp as a power amp. So even though it may be in a loop, you wouldn’t want it bypassed.
      Signal path would be something like guitar > front end pedals > IRX > fx loop pedals > amp return.
      If you are running into an FX loop or amp make sure you run from the IRX output and bypass IRs or come out of the IRX send as your output as that is pre IR.
      With a loop switcher, you could still utilise your amps pre amp and switch between the two but that’s a bit more complex.
      Hope that helps 👍

    • @JJDon5150
      @JJDon5150 11 месяцев назад

      @@DanLeggatt Awesome, thanks! So I basically want to do the first part of what you're saying and use the IR-X as a replacement preamp so I can use the controls on the IR-X as effectively my amp head. Per the manual though, it says you're supposed to hook up the IR-X Return to the FX Return of the amp head. If I do this, how am I supposed to run the IR-X into the Boss ES-5 loop switcher? Would I have to run my guitar into the input of the IR-X, and then run a cable out from the send of the IR-X to the input of the ES-5?

    • @lespaulsouthpaw
      @lespaulsouthpaw 10 месяцев назад +1

      @JJDon5150 I'm taking an educated guess & thinking in Dans rig in this video, the output of his loop switcher (which only has fx in it that you would run into the FRONT of an amp) is going into the input of the IR-X. The channels of IR-X itself are being controlled from the loop switcher via midi but is not in a loop. He has the reverb & delay in the loop of the IR-X. The fx loop in the IR-X can be turned on / off via midi but Dan is not doing that here. He is leaving the IR-X loop on all the time & has modded his delay to switched on/off from a relay switch on the Musicomlab unit. Hope this helps.

    • @Ottophil
      @Ottophil 10 месяцев назад

    • @JJDon5150
      @JJDon5150 10 месяцев назад

      @@Ottophil there is a much different routing flow you have to use when you use the IR-X with a loop switcher like the Boss IR-X and want to use direct to PA and amp return at the same time. Its not just "plugging it in." I got it figured out after asking some people on a forum. I'll basically need a buffered splitter.
      Next time you want to comment, at least add something positive instead of complaining/trolling.
