As a musician of 17 years, this album will always be a personal masterpiece to me. This album has saved me so many times from giving up. RIP to an amazing guitarist. You will never be forgotten. Ever.
god i freaken love metal compared to other genres. So meaningful and passionate. you can feel the music coursing through your body. Its not just "damn that beat is fresh". Its so much more
Metal pounds through my blood and i feel like i can express who i am through the pounding beats, melodic screams and chugging guitar riffs. I am home in metal and i doubt that will ever change.
It took me so long to really understand why people would listen to this type of music and then when you go through a lot of pain and heartache and trouble all alone most your life you realize this the only kind of music you want to listen to
for what it's worth Phil, Genny, olie,Mike, and Costa have brought me to light on life situations that only could be handled only by me .... I love you are..
I don't know what it is with these guys, but it feels like every song has their heart and soul poured into it... every song I listen to, I can relate too... it's crazy! There isn't another metal band like these guys... absolutely amazing!
I built there stage in Plymouth and I already heard of them and seeing them live made me obsessed. I am a guitarist and Herbert is a constant Legend in my books. I still cant get over that show!!
I remember going to see ATR not long after they released this album and it was one of the few shows I didn’t drink at because I was sick and on antibiotics. The crowd engagement was top level and Phil stole the show, still one of my favourite concert experiences and I’ve been too many shows to count since then.
I love this band because they always make music that they like. They don't listen to all there cry baby "fans" that whine about how they don't sound the same as there old shit. They just rock and do a damn good job of it. Anyone who's complaining about any of there past, present, or future works should just stop listening.
I had completely forgotten about them! This was the shit back when i was in middle school! Still hits the same as it did the first time i came across it!
The first 2 albums, where so fucking heavy. I understand putting out some slower shit to make loot. But they wen't from a prog metalcore band to a pop rock band. What if i was nothing is not metal at all.
David Kohout they sound awesome in the first two albums, they sound ok in the third album and bad in the rest. the first album was a masterpiece, what happened? :(
Anthony Wilcox weird how 'growing up' usually involves selling to a younger and younger crowd... they went from the 15-30 year angry male fandom to the 15-20 year old girls and moms-listening-to-radio fandom
I found out about this song and band around the time that the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and there was a low quality video about secret rooms or something with this song in the background and song for the broken by close your eyes. Miss so much this time of my life when everything was better. Thank you for good memories and good music
2006 is one of the best era of Metalcore. So many great band with they're best album. ATR 'Fall of Ideals' is one of them. For me this is classic Metalcore album.
Im seriously tired of being made fun of for listening to this music. They listen to hip hop and even country. This speaks the damn truth, about real life situations. This music is real and from the heart. Metal Core will LIVE ON!!! \m/(-_-)\m/
No it's just relevant, no one cares about selling out if the music doesn't start becoming crap but they clearly just wanted to keep playing music but ran out of good ways to make their music so they just started playing it safe and making something accessible and easy to record/play live and have lost all of their former aggression and distinctness. It's more about being sad for a band losing their soul and energy than being mad at a band "selling out" because why would that matter, they're not a punk band.
***** They're making the music they wanna make. I don't think it has anything to do with anything else besides that. They're not trying to play to the strongest crowd, and I don't think it's anyone's place to say they've lost anything. They're sticking to what they want, and that's what every band should do.
ikantspelgud1 "They wanna make" aka what makes them the most money without having to challenge themselves musically, I can't really blame them it must be awesome to get to play music to loving fans regularly, but you can't even make the argument that they haven't lost the distinct energy they used to have. They've gone soft and become safe record label pups, but if you enjoy their new sound there's nothing wrong with that.
Jordan I'm getting back to this over a year later, but oh well. I just don't agree with this sentiment. First, you think their past 2 albums have been about money. The Order Of Things and Madness are not nearly as popular as their early stuff. Like I said, it's not about money or pleasing a label. They make this music because THEY like it, nothing else.
If a band you "like" can't put out a ballet like "What If I was Nothing" then you're a little too much of a metal head, go listen to Deicide or Meshuggah where every song sounds the same. Gotta mix it up to grab all the fans you can get, don't blame them at all. Listen to "No knock" off of the new album, doesn't sound too soft to me ..
RIP OLI. Thanks for the badass riffs. \m/
i actually teared up a bit when i heard about it.

Each of the last 3 killswitch albums are better than those ones
What ? Alive Or Just Breathing was recorded before all those albums and is the mayor influence of all metalcore albums
10 years later and still listening this one its probably my best ATR song besides six.
Damn, passion is my fav
Bro.. Six gets me every single time. Every time I hear it, it's brand new but resonates in my mind and soul! ✊🏽
Too right. Six and not alone are amazing songs.
And this calling
true
Still one of the hardest riffs I've ever tried to learn. Just shows Oli's skills..
Fucking hell man, there goes another idol.. Rest in peace Oli.
Only person that I could see do it with skill is there new guitarist Jason richardson

"Not Alone"
No more
No more are the days that I will
Fear for I have found a strength that
None can match and I'll push forward
Never has the blood in my veins
Flowed so fiercely as when I feel this around me
I am whole
[Chorus:]
I'm not alone with the touch of your hand I am whole again
I'm not alone with the touch of your hand I am whole again
Now I feel the passion burning
This what drives me further
Strengthens my resolve to push me further
[Spoken:] And I believe, that I am not alone
[Chorus]
Give me hot steel, go
[Solo]
No more are the days that I will
Fear for I have found a strength that
None can match and I'll push forward
Now I feel the passion burning
This what drives me further
Strengthens my resolve to push me further
[Chorus]

Oli Herbert!!! Nothing isn't what it seems anymore....you presence in this band meant so much to me
Rest in peace, Oli Herbert ❤🤘
New single Divine sounds like this and I'm stoked about that
Yeah you can absolutely tell the new members were fans of the band in this era.
now after the other songs of the album come out you can see they're still their modern soft selves and it doesnt compare to fall of ideals at all
The chorus is damn good !
Jester Head dude im seeing your comments everywhere

agreed

What about ascendancy by trivium? Hands down the best metalcore album.
its melodic metalcore
Metal pounds through my blood and i feel like i can express who i am through the pounding beats, melodic screams and chugging guitar riffs. I am home in metal and i doubt that will ever change.
Today I felt truly alone but then I listened to this and it lifted me. Thank you all that remains.
Simply put...AWESOME! This band has brought it heavy since the beginning and continues to do so. Perfect balance of brutal metal and melody.
I don't know what It Is about metal from the 00s, It just hits different.
how sick are the guitarists!
ATR was the first band when I began to listen metalcore.
you mean the only good metalcore
No, the first. There is a lot of good or better metalcore than ATR. As I Lay Dying and August Burns Red comes to mind.
Haha same here, ATR introduced me to the world of metalcore too
Ryan Smith Haha, there are a lot good metalcore bands. You dumb fuck.
I Cum Blood oh great, you again, stop following me
all that remains are probably on my top 5 metalcore bands
they are incredible
I love that solo, one of the best I´ve ever heard...
This video gave me shivers at the beginning, then when the breakdown came I cried. The most kickass song.
RIP Oli you got us through alot with your amazing riffs.
The last chorus goes so hard with that sweet little harmonizing guitar
Such a really sweet spot
This has got to be their best album.

this band is incredible, the lyrics have so much meaning...
by far one of my fav songs ever.
This band is so amazing and sick there masters of there instruments not to mention Phil's vocals
Been bumping this whole album since the concert, I almost forgot how much of a banger this album is
i still come back to this for the solo. its so damn good
Every time I think of the love of my life, this song comes to mind.
Oli's technicality was always mind blowing to me
