Something about this feels classic. Having antvenom and cavemenfilms in the same video just brings me back. It's nice to have a break from, "TODAY, WE ARE GONNA" do whatever random thing they come up with to please the kids. With those really over the top fire effects they got for free.
the antvenom base is so iconic, it uses such simple build patterns and block patterns but it still looks so good, especially with the default 16x16 textures
I assume that's the reason why Minecraft doesn't have LOD. It just doesn't work well with voxels. It should actually be possible to achieve the same effect using sparse voxel octrees without sacrificing the voxel look, though I'm not sure how easy of difficult it would be to retroactively implement that into Minecraft.
Haven't watched the channel in quite a while, but damn, Cavemanfilms being in the video was quite a pleasant surprise. I watched both your channels way back in the day, and seeing both of you in the same video but with your current format just brings a smile to my face. Keep up the great content!
Although I'm stuck in the minority, seeing a collab with CMF just blew my mind. It's been years, and with your new style of content, it's a refresher in my eyes, hopefully you do one of these here and there, just to rekindle that nostalgia everyone's searching for 🙂
I really enjoyed the music in this video, awesome editing too. I wasn't a super big fan of the captions (they were a little big and the flashing text was a little distracting) but this was a dope concept and video. Super cool stuff :D
The experimental style is certainly a breath of fresh air, seems like a lot of effort was put into this video. I think it makes a huge positive difference when you build your own scenes for videos, instead of recording the vanilla world generation the whole time.
This is probably the first time I’ve heard Caveman’s voice in over 6 years. This video is so nostalgic and on such an interesting topic. By the way, I love the style. Sounds like some people are saying they don’t, but I wouldn’t be able to guess why. You can tell it’s just such a fun explanation of the story behind making this video.
Great video Ant! Interesting topic, fine script, Caveman being Caveman The only real critique I have is the beginning. Seeing the words pop up on screen as you say them is a little disorienting, cause it drags attention away from the main footage and focuses it on the bottom of the screen. Also gave me a headache so thank you for not using it for the entire vid lol but really other than that, no complaints
bruh this video was on a whole new level, the content is amazing, and the editing..... the editing it self is a god tier editing please keep it that way
I enjoyed this video and the farlands not loading in until you get extremely close is cool along with the fact you can still imagine islands past the farlands even if you can't vist them it gives a mystery to what's beyond there.(even if there isn't)
Awesome video!!! It's nice seeing CavemanFIlms again and I did like the funny talks throughout the video :) Always love seeing you break Minecraft in many different ways, can't wait to see more content from you! _Additional note, to be fully honest, I get why the starting subtitles are there, but it just feels off to me with them being there, but at least it's a breath of fresh air when it comes to Dosis Bold and other common MC video fonts. The editing style I could probably get used to, but it still has that unusual feeling. If this is the new thing going forward, then maybe combine it with the old style of editing, good video either way :)_
I really dig this coop style of video! maybe if you ever cover more niche topics you can invite 1 or 2 people to talk about their expertise. I rly like the shake up of two people hosting a video like this. keep it up!
I just watch your video yesterday in "The Highest Minecraft Render Distance...?" uploaded in Jan 17, 2019, and by the next day u upload the video that u just promised, this is coincidence for me
It seems Ant may not know about the build the earth project. Cause they're building the earth 1:1 scale and have a world that could have been a good example for this. I mean he probably knows it exists but still
My favorite part of the DistantHorizons mod is the fact that it saves chunks you load on a server, so you can see where you have and haven’t explored on servers. Also, it’s much easier to tell where everything in the world is in relation to one another.
Just wanted to say that it's really cool having a mainstream RUclipsr who can shine the spotlight on some of these modding projects. It's always super cool seeing mods break out of the modded community's little bubble of content creation, and your videos on Sodium and Distant Horizons/Farplane (this one) are great to see. It's still kinda wild to me that most people still use Optifine - makes you realize just how little information leaves the modding community
i’m loving this style of editing and production!! it feels so natural and yeah it’s experimental and everyone might now like it but i do, also nice teaching more people about LOD me being into computers it’s puts a smile on my face, love ya ant!
Really interesting what mods can do nowadays... a ton of modders can do things in a few days what a professional developers from mojang cant implement in a year. Sure bugs and cross-compatibility is a thing, but come on Mojang.
Modders don't need to appease a lot of people, and everything is create optional to download. Mojang has to cater to a much larger player base, and you don't really have an option to configure the features from each update.
ant, something i'd really love to see a video on is, why can the community make so many amazing mods like this that improve minecraft in so many ways, but the actual team at mojang can't seem to output at a comparable rate? If nothing else, couldn't they (with permission) take some of these mods and incorporate them into minecraft itself? Why are there youtube channels where people literally make a new silly modpack every week but minecraft goes about 1 year in between updates? What does it actually look like to be the people developing minecraft, vs being the people developing these mods? I'm genuinely curious of the answer to that question, whether or not it reflects poorly on mojang's development cycle.
@Joe Mama Hey incel, how's that N word video you have on your channel doing? Be a shame if someone reported it and got you a strike on your account. TROLOLOLOLLOLOlll
Definetly happy to see you and cave back, but I feel like this style of editing was just a bit too fast for how I generally expect you to work. I like how you show your characters heads moving heads up and down to simulate talking, but the transitions were a bit jarring and the subtitles felt a bit intrusive. Great video though.
i like watching your minecraft characters hang out while you talk, i feel like you could get really creative with that with builds any maybe even subtle storylines
"The average computer only has 256 gb's" There's no way that's real right? I don't think I've even seen a computer with only 256 gb's in over a decade lol.
This style of editing , jumpcuts , voiceover and actual character talks seems good. Yet the old one is still pretty good... maybe better but maybe not.
Man, seeing you two together really brings me back to when I was wanting to upload Minecraft videos and become big too. So I made a couple on the 1.3.1 “Emeralds” seed you showcased WAY back then. And I loved seeing both of your videos. Sky back then too though of course nowadays… yeah. I also remember ChimneySwift’s tropicraft series and am still sad about his in game cat’s death (I don’t remember it’s name though) Now I’m 20 and in my Junior year of college. Wow, level of detail seems like such a massive improvement to the game. If I could have one feature added to the game, it would be this! This is insane!
I gotta say, pretty much all the content that you make is entertaining, but this format was really engaging to me and i'd love to see more of it in the future!
Distant Horizons is a great mod, completely changes the feel of the world. Hopefully it'll work with shaders some day, because the vanilla render distance is just so disappointing after you've gotten used to being able to see so far.
Wait wasn't there a 1:1 scale Earth in minecraft being developed as a group with PippenFTS? I do know that it doesn't have all the buildings and the sort, but that's what their project is based on actually-rebuilding the world as much as possible

PippenFTS is trying to make earth in 1:1 scale and so far its looking pretty good. I’m not sure how long its gonna take but he seems pretty confident that it will be finished one day
I think the editing and style of this video is okay, but it feels off and a little weird, especially for this channel. I love Antvenom's documentary and more dramatic/calm style that he usually does his videos in. That captivates my attention more than this energetic and hyper kind. It's a lot more exciting video. I don't know, maybe I just was distracted with how cool the infinite chunks were. Either way, good video.
While distant horizons looks really cool, I'm going to have to hold off on using it. I've been using the same survival world for awhile and it would appear that something like this would prevent me from loading new chunks when an update drops.
