This happens to many E46's, even a 320d. On non M3 cars it's almost always the passenger side rear one that cracks first. The big bolt threads into a bracket inside the chassis and the spot welds fail. It then tries to pull through the lower boot floor skin. It was a mainly early 323i/328i cars but they can all do it.
Hi mate great work, I really enjoy watching the videos. Just wanted to share some info check out the no nonsense zink spray sold by screwfix as its weldable so good to spray up replacement panels before welding and can be used after too as it has good protective and filler properties. Keep up the great work well done
The complete floor on mine was damaged. Torn in multiple places. Had to replace that whole panel and had the guy doing the job custom make something like the Vince bar to correct the issue. My m3 was a lemon so ended up selling it but I would have kept it if issues didn’t keep popping up
Hello Ed, hope you’re keeping well, you should use be using something underneath the stone chip finish or the same issue will happen again over time, let me know next time you’ve this job to complete and I’ll show you the Rustbuster EM121 Epoxy Mastic it’s a modified epoxy mastic providing fantastic durability and flexibility. Stay safe Chris
What did you use to get that wrinkle finish ? the coat that is in beige / cream colour. before you finished it with black. Thanks for your great videos ! Fan.
Excellent! Had this done on my e46 330d touring which has a hybrid turbo. No more creaking or flexing from the rear
