Agreed, but it’s not Tony’s health. Doc had always been a pretty melodic player, and Tony would have been the first to tell you he wasn’t. The reason Tony’s breaks sound kind of tough in contrast is because these two tunes, especially east TN blues, have incredibly well known melodies. Doc’s breaks all pay homage to the melody, while Tony plays a bluesy “Tony-style” classic break over the changes. I love Tony’s style, but sometimes it can be hard to hear in contrast to Doc specifically without noticing his melodic shortcomings. No shade - it’s our distance from these guys that lets us critique like this. These guys are playing circles around us in heaven.
Thank you Doc. The real deal. You did it. Your way. And the world was blessed. Now that you are gone. We realise what we lost. Rest in peace.
Doc and Tony play a tune and then Jack breaks into Beaumont Rag, Doc notices it immediately and Alerts Tony. Thanks for sharing this.
Met Doc and Jack Lawrence when he was over here. Wonderful memories, Chris Wilson.
Love it. Doc was a good friend to my dad. Good memories of my young days. Where’s Jack Lawrence these days? I know he lives somewhere in Virginia....
I prefer Doc's lead breaks over Tony's breaks in this video. Great job by all, of course.
lol
Me too!
Wasn't this around the time when Tony's health was not the greatest?

Great combination with greats Doc and Tony rip. Now gotta pick the best between Doc and Tony rip
Both Doc and Tony seemed humble and more about just making excellent music together.
Does the bear shit in the woods? Ah dunno, does Doc Watson have wooden eyes?
What a disgusting and dishonorable thing to say.
What did he mean by this
Try not to be a Richard in the future.
