Daegu, my first Korean assignment. K2 Airbase. Love Korean food. Spent over 26 months in Korea on two separate tours and on my second tour (before 88 Olympics) saw the transformation of Korea, especially Seoul. It was amazing. Someday, I would like to go back there for a visit. My German tutor (a 23-year-old German lady) is crazy about Korean singers, especially male bands.

She looks 30 to me. Plenty of Asians in their late 20s and late 30s still look like teenagers. However white people is the opposite. Teenage white girls look like late 20s and in their early 30s they have so much wrinkles and their cheeks are falling down.

솔직히 요즘도 아이돌이 넘쳐나는 세상이고 아이돌들은 노래 아니면 춤을 얼마나 잘 하냐이기때문에 정말 두드러진 실력이 아니면 대중의 관심을 못 받잖아요.(그리고 전 딱히 아이돌에 관심이 없거든요😁) 근데 아연님은 춤을 좋아하긴 하나 드럼도 좋아하기 때문에 아이돌로 남아있었으면 그 실력이 너무 아까웠을것 같아요!!

@flower pretty sure for most Korean girls, its what the family wants... not what she wants. Are you telling me your parents would be fine with you dating a foreigner? If you're American, Canadian or European Asian, then I suppose you can date who you want. With the exception of Japan, most Asian parents control who their daughters marry.

For anyone who wanted to know, when she said her age the subtitles correctly said that she's 30 but in Korean she actually said "in Korean age, I'm 31".
It's because in Korea, when a baby is born they say that the kid is age 1, then on new year's day, everybody goes up in age by 1. It was a bit of a culture shock to move here and have folks tell me I'm older than I am (I'm already old without that lol); doubly so how between new years and my bday, they say I'm 2 years older than the age I think of. And it was even more of a shock to realize that Korean folks would say that a baby born on new years eve is a 2 year-old the next morning. Also, it used to be that everyone used the "lunar" new year for moving up in age.
Oh, that explains a lot. When she said she was born in 1990 and that she was 30 I thought “no, you’re 29. Why 30?” 😁

I think this is a cultural thing in most asian countries, maybe is something with the lunar calendar also.
@@SoulPhoenix27 Wikipedia indicates that it used to be used in China and Japan, but in both countries it's been almost entirely replaced.
Korea seems to be the only country that still largely uses it.

If you want to see two elite drummers, watch Tony Royster, Jr. and Carl Palmer. They can be seen on youtube, obviously. I've attended over 100 rock and metal concerts and these 2 are as good as it gets. I payed for a lot of these events but I used to work security for anyone who came into Southern California as well. By the way, I got very lucky because I am only 6'2 so I would be back stage before the bands went on and I sat on the stage during the concert. Sometimes I would be placed in the band's dressing room where they tuned their guitars and warmed up. Great times!
