I watched that back recently, and in hindsight, all the signs that Batista would make a good actor were there.

Rey Mysterio was probably the only wrestler that stayed babyface all his career. It used to question me why it people turned on Rey but it was part of making an interesting storyline/Rivalry.

Rey has been such a loved, good, wholesome, almost innocent figure over the years, that having him be betrayed is just a quick easy way to turn someone Heel. Kinda like how everytime someone needed to turn heel they have them attack J.R. (Undertaker, Triple H, Stonecold, Kane, etc)
Honestly, at this point Rey Mysterio having his friends and family turn heel on him is a meme in of itself.

I kind of feel bad for little Rey Rey. He’s always the victim to another wrestler’s heel turn.
You missed Spike Dudley in a SmackDown tag match in 2004; he attacked Rey and re-teamed with his "brothers" and became their leader for the first time, beating Rey for the Cruiserweight title...
The gear Rey is wearing in that match makes him look like a badass comic book superhero.
And he and Eddie were magic in that match!!!
That Batista betrayal felt real and now that I think about it they never really crossed paths again after that on screen from what I remember

Someone betraying Rey Mysterio has as much gimmick appeal as Big Show jumping back and fourth between face and heel
Almost all of Rey's betrayals came from family and of hispanic descent. Dom & Nick Guerrero was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.
I'm sure the Carlito turn isn't what we all think. I'm sure somehow it's a way for someone to get into the Judgement day and mess with Dominic on behalf of Rey who has the ongoing feud with Dominik.
Chavo Guerrero was hella underrated. I wish WWE used him better 😢
I mean, we all know that person who complains about the bad people around them, we just don't have the heart to tell that person that they're the problem.
