One of my favourite songs from Sisters of Mercy - love the video as well! The Sisters of Mercy are an English gothic rock band formed in Leeds in 1980. Andrew Eldritch has a great voice, I really enjoy listening to him. 'Temple of Love' was released as a non-album single in 1983. After being out of print for years, the song was re-recorded in 1992 as 'Temple of Love' (1992) featuring Israeli singer Ofra Haza. This version became the band's biggest hit in the UK, peaking at number three on the UK Singles Chart. It also reached the top five in Germany, the top 20 in Austria and Ireland, and the top 25 in Sweden. Some of my other fav songs from the Sisters are 'Lucretia My Reflection', 'This Corrosion', 'When You Don't See Me', and 'Under The Gun'. Thanks for your reaction, Anthony, really enjoyed it. 😊😊

This is The Sisters sort of covering themselves. Original version with a different line up was recorded and released in 1983; this is the second version, with a totally different line up, recorded and released in 1992.

It was re-released in 1992, an updated extended mix including the female vocal (Ofra Haza) and video.

it's a song about 2 people locking their selves in drug abuse. the temple of love is a metaphor for drugs.

Touched by the hand of Ofra Haza. This is perfect. Although the full length version is superior.

I've not heard this track for years and I've never heard this 1992 re-recording . I still prefer the original tbh, the recording sounds cleaner.
    Ah, I see, but still . . .

Yeah, the original is definiitely the best. The 808 drum machine sounds much better than whatever they were using in 1992 and the guitars have more bite.

Nah, I reckon the 92 version is superior. I liked the 92 Alice too.
