  • Canon Press is doing a George Gilder documentary and republishing his classic, Men and Marriage. In honor of this delightful occasion, here is one of my favorites from Gilder's Men and Marriage with a few thoughts scattered in the wake.

"The various waves of feminism have washed over us such that we don't realize how far we have strayed. . . We live in a society where women have assumed power and authority that simply was not designed for their taking . . . As it was in the garden, so it is today. The degree to which women take power seems to depend on the extent to which men are absent."

Relaxing needs to be resisted more than ever before in the USA. It is time to rebuild. I am not working a technical job that earns a paycheck right now, it is complicated, but I should be trying to stay physically busy almost the entire time from waking up to going to sleep in my opinion in some regard to fight against temptation to be lazy, but also to fight against any incredibly unhelpful feelings of depression, I have perceived at times that laziness could actually be correlated with depression and perhaps even suicide. We need to eat. We need to read from the Bible routinely to some extent. We need to pray. I appreciate this. I struggle to function normally.

True relaxation is becoming comfortable being uncomfortable. Working hard through the day. Adapting and leading your household and self throughout the ever changing challenges of society/ the world. Not spending that money to “relax” (stimulate) on alcohol cigarettes or drugs etc. I believe the book even implies you shouldn’t ejaculate unless in pursuit of life creation

The same man said men were sexually inferior and disposeable.
We had 60 years to see Gilder's ideas work against feminism. It was an unmitigated disaster of unparalled proportions - on both a societal, church, and theology level.
There's no room to let it have a second pass.

I should say that we need to not fool around with seeming like we could be magical, wizardry is an absurdly dumb waste of time, I consider it fairly likely that it could inspire demons to be horrific toward you directly, and not to mention any perception of “magic” is certainly not actually magic, while it may be a sign and wonder of some sort, it would be favorable to the incredibly violent perception of truth relativity to try to seem magical. I thought it was strange that I heard wizard mentioned in this video but did not think of an adequate reason to acknowledge this I guess previously, this may need to be discouraged in some regard, saying wizard, the performance of this video may actually be related to this and I am curious why else this particular video seems to have done more poorly. It may need to be prayed for that the authority of the devil, demons, and angels would lighten over you is tempting to perceive I do not actually trust it but if you are associated with conservative reformed Presbyterians like I think you are this should occur routinely and perhaps that the sufficiency of scripture would be trusted I wonder how much it makes sense to quote people really outside of the Bible and perhaps extremely close to the truth Christian book material. There is nothing new. We should sing the psalms.

The government marriage contract is not Biblical marriage, so Godly men want no part of government marriage.
Biblical covenant vs. legal contract: In Christianity, marriage is seen as a sacred covenant between two individuals before God. It is a spiritual bond that reflects the relationship between Christ and the Church. A government marriage contract, being a legal and civil agreement, lacks the spiritual depth and divine aspect that a biblical marriage entails.
Secular influence and compromise: The government, as a secular institution, operates on the basis of laws and regulations that are not necessarily derived from religious principles. As a result, involvement of the government in marriage as a secular influence that dilutes the spiritual significance of the union. True biblical marriage must be guided solely by Biblical teachings and not subject to secular laws.
Jared, do you solemnize government marriage contracts? If you do you're a government agent and you're a destoyer of Biblical marriage.

I am constantly amazed at such teachings. Middle aged, overweight, Christian men talking about masculinity. When was the last time they walked 5 miles to school? When was the last time they tracked a deer unto exhaustion and killed it with a knife? What rites of passage have they undergone to signify their passing from boyhood to manhood? These are the historic signs of masculinity. Seems to me all they are doing is (once again) setting Christian men (and boys) for disappointment and failure. But, I am sure it sells books.
