I love when i see tutorials like this and as i'm watching it i think to myself: I know this! Always a great feeling :D Your tutorials are really helpful and clear!
Your channel is awesome. I finally found a kickass channel for learning tips and tricks of Premiere pro. Wanted this for so long. You, sir, are amazing. P.S. I also love the other tutorials that you do.
Great tutorial! I feel like sometimes when we're editing we're looking to closely at something and may spend wayyyy too long on it. Stuff like this is a good example of why you should just take a second and preview it like a normal viewer instead of staying zoomed up. Sometimes it looks really good and we spend another 30 minutes tweaking for hardly anything at all because the viewer can't even notice things that close up. I don't know if what I'm saying makes sense when you're reading this but it definitely makes sense in my head! xD Regardless, thanks for the video!
Hi Colin, yet another very helpful tip. But I have a question for you, if could be so kind to offer a solution. I have been teaching some basic editing to my students, but one of them had some mov files that he was working on, but after he had dragged his footage to the timeline, the audio track became uneditable, while it was on Audio Track A1. However, if we then relayed it to the timeline and place the audio on A2 it was fine, even though track A1 was not locked or disabled, it was not possible to do anything with it while it remained on A1 and in fact it could not even be moved without first being deleted. We are using CC latest version, so is there a bug in this version? Thanks from David
HI Colin, I do already have A1 targeted but as soon as a clip is placed on the timeline with the audio in A1 it cant even be right clicked. Here are the clip properties: DSC_0047.MOV Type: MPEG Movie File Size: 60.14 MB Image Size: 1920 x 1080 Frame Rate: 50.00 Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 16 bit - Stereo Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo Total Duration: 00:00:13:37 Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Can you do exploding text ? Or...is there a way to make text shine in and shine out? Kind of like a transition. The closest I see is dip to white but only the text not whole screen.
No exploding text in Premiere Pro, that's After Effects. Almost anything can be confined to a specific area when you use masks or the Track Matte effects. It can get a little complicated but whatever effect you use on a layer below, just copy the text later above and apply the Track Matte to the layer below. Watch my tutorial on Track Matte Effects.
The mask tracker in Premiere Pro is an object tracker and I find that it isn't as accurate as I'd like. It might have worked for this but I'm not using it much anymore.
I want to film a car that will go from the left to the right or backwards. I want this animation backwards too. There's no title at the beginning, but if the car rolls slowly, the title will appear behind it. How can I do it? :) By the way, I like the video. I've been searching for this kind of tutorial. :)
That's a similar technique but it involves more precise masking and usually that's a job for After Effects or Mocha. If you really want to learn rotoscoping, Google "Mary Poplin Mocha".
Yes you can track the mask but it probably wouldn't work with the example of the traffic as it's too complex. Watch my tutorial on highlighting a face to see where the tracker works.
It's the exact same process. Select the video, grab the Pen tool and start drawing. Watch my new tutorial on comparing the masking tools in Premiere Pro and After Effects.
I just practiced this technique in Premiere Pro CC V14.30, and it worked. Not sure why it's not working for you either. It's just a basic masking function in an editing software. There is no way it's not working.
I love when i see tutorials like this and as i'm watching it i think to myself: I know this! Always a great feeling :D Your tutorials are really helpful and clear!
Thanks so much.
Your tutorials are great! Keep up the good work!
Thanks!
EXACTLY what I was looking for! I appreciate the short and sweet approach without any fat (blah blah) on your videos. Thanks! Again!
I try to keep it on track as best I can.
Your channel is awesome. I finally found a kickass channel for learning tips and tricks of Premiere pro. Wanted this for so long. You, sir, are amazing.
P.S. I also love the other tutorials that you do.
Oh wow, that warms my heart. Thanks!
Awesome tutorial. I'm gonna implement this for some fun dynamic titles. Thanks for sharing.
Great!
Excellent work sir , looks Great , gonna try this for sure

Yep, lots of possibilities. Thanks for watching.

OH yes, I know exactly what you're saying and I've been guilty before of working for hours on something that no one will ever notice.
Another great tutorial. Thank you!
You're welcome.
Tanks Colin!

You're welcome.
Thank you Very Much for Your Videos.
Congratulations
You're welcome.
damn that was a lot of work. Thanks man!
Yeah, any time masking is involved, it's time consuming.
Worked perfectly! Thanks.
You're welcome.
i hope you would do a tutorial in how to make video flashing dark and white so fast . like a movie intro . Thank you
Do you have an example?
Would this be easier if you applied mask and tracking to the text instead of car? Thanks for the great work.
The text isn't moving so tracking would not work.
great tutorial!
Thanks.
Thanks very much for this tutorial ... ;) Good job !!!
You're welcome.
awesome tips. thanks.
Great!
very helpful
Great!
Very good, thank you.
Glad you like it.
This is bad ass.
Wow, thanks!
loved it thanks
You're welcome.
thank you! helped me a lot
Great!
Ive always wondered how to get a 3D title stick to a "example" stand on a table - in moving or shaky footage..
This would definitely help, to get the title to "stick" you'd use the 3D camera tracker.
Thanks so much.
You're welcome

Make sure that A1 is "targeted". Select the A1 beside the track.
HI Colin, I do already have A1 targeted but as soon as a clip is placed on the timeline with the audio in A1 it cant even be right clicked. Here are the clip properties:
DSC_0047.MOV
Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 60.14 MB

Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo

Can I send screen shot of the timeline?

Great!
Thanks.
Hi Collin. What if you were to scale up the image a little and then add some small panning key frames to fake a slight camera movement ??
Sure, that would work.

tnks..very good tut....where i can upgrade this pan tool ..i have pp cs6
You can upgrade Premiere Pro at www.adobe.com
can you PLEASE show me how to create Light Beam effect in Adobe premiere pro CC.....?
That is not an effect that Premiere Pro can do. You need After Effects and Red Giant software to do a realistic effect.
we can,t do it in premiere pro s/w?
No.
try lighting effects under effects tab. it can create natural looking directional, spotlight and omni lights
Can you do this effect with other software, like GoPro editor, premiere elements, or iMovies?
Unfortunately you can't do this in those programs.
nice tutorial, but wouldn't you just let premiere track the mask on the car and correct only where it's needed?
The mask tracker in Premiere Pro is an object tracker and I find that it isn't as accurate as I'd like. It might have worked for this but I'm not using it much anymore.
I see, I like to let it track and then fix where needed, so I can skip the major part and focus on the details
very very helpful n great idea
Thanks.
Спасибо! Thanks
You're welcome.
I bet you are the guy behind Mr Robot's title sequence, ain't you?
No I ain't but Mr Robot's title is pretty good.
1:46 there is a fly on the top of the screen, did you put it there ;) LOLLL just a stupid joke from me.....
nice video my friend THANKS!! ;)
Ha, ha, I never noticed that little guy flying around.
I want to film a car that will go from the left to the right or backwards. I want this animation backwards too. There's no title at the beginning, but if the car rolls slowly, the title will appear behind it. How can I do it? :)
By the way, I like the video. I've been searching for this kind of tutorial. :)
Select the Invert option to show everything outside the mask and that should do it.
Thank you for your help, I'll try it! :)

Thank you so much!
Plz Promote My Channel
Sorry, I don't offer that service.
wao so nice your job
Thanks.
As soon as I complete the mask the title text disappears, how can I fix this problem?
Try inverting the mask because is sounds like you're selecting everything *except* the title.
great
Thanks.
Hey thanks for the help. Just have a problem. I cant animate the text if i move the text while its all marked it all will just move.
Correct, that's the way it's intended to work.
You need to do your animation in a separate Sequence, then put that into a Track and mask that.
How to edit a timelapse that has a fast moving background but the subject is at slower speed
That's a similar technique but it involves more precise masking and usually that's a job for After Effects or Mocha.
If you really want to learn rotoscoping, Google "Mary Poplin Mocha".
thank you so much
great sir
Thanks.
Does it also work with masktracking?
Yes you can track the mask but it probably wouldn't work with the example of the traffic as it's too complex. Watch my tutorial on highlighting a face to see where the tracker works.
hi!! If I upgrade my adobe premiere, am I going to lose the presets that I installed?
You should always backup your Presets anyway.
oh damn :/ thanks for the fast repply!!
how to do the same in after effects?
It's the exact same process. Select the video, grab the Pen tool and start drawing. Watch my new tutorial on comparing the masking tools in Premiere Pro and After Effects.
how this effect is called ?
It's not an effect. It's a visual effects technique that uses rotoscoping to isolate or remove an area.
I like that Mr Colin thanks
You're welcome.
U rule!
Thanks.
not helpful at all doesnt work (premiere pro 2020)
I just opened that exact same Project in 2020, and it works fine. Not sure why it's not working for you.
