  • In today's video, I talk about FPS (frames per second) in Xlights, which one I use, and what one you should use. I also talk about the pros and cons of each one. If you have any ideas for videos I should make, let me know in the comments below!

    Keith Westley has a great video series in understanding what is going on behind the scenes, including how frame rate effects things.

    hi there have a question you mention in a video that on the controller if i use port 9 to 16 i could add other power surply and inject power with that power surply is that right and how would i power it with other dc wire or plug it with power surply one which way is better

      No what i was saying is on the controller you can hook 2 different voltages up if you want. You could have a 12v power supply on ports 9 to 16 for 12 volt pixels, then you could have a 5 volt power supply plugged into the other half of the controller so ports 1 to 8 would could run 5 volt pixels.

      ah thats good but could i hook other power supply on port 9 to 16 and use that one to power inject pixels on 9 to 16 then thank you

      @@denn450 Yeah but you wouldn't hook it onto the controller. You'd hook it more than likely to the end of the strand of pixels so there's equal power on both sides.

    Good video!
    Your data going out of your controller takes time. A ws2811 led has a clock of 800kbps. Every led takes 8 bits for one color. Red green and blue makes 24bits.
    So 1000 leds takes about 24000 bits per update. 800000 bits per second is maximum so roughly a thousand leds gives you a maximum of 33fps. (800000/24000) = 33.33

      Wow I didn't know that. Thanks for the info!

      i was thinking the same thing.. he isn't thinking of network packet structure either. But i get it, he has a high end understanding on what is going on.

      Just to make sure, the max FPS with ws2811 and 100Pixel is 33fps per Port?

    • @TheHaubke
      @TheHaubke Год назад

      @@nicegenolf8708 it is more in the range of a thousand leds with 33fps. It depends on controller type. Etc etc.

    Nice channel!
    How about a video on how to convert 20fps to 40fps?🤜👍

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  2 года назад

      Ok I'll make the video in the future! But it's super simple, just go to sequence settings (button next to zoom in and out buttons) and change the sequence timing. If you set it to 50ms that's 20 fps, and 25ms is 40 fps.
