Wow, she's so young in this. I had the pleasure of meeting her through my mom's choir a couple months ago, she taught us a whole bunch of really cool stuff. I've never heard anything more beautiful than her singing "Swing Low". She's an amazing woman, and I'm glad that I got the opportunity to learn from her. She really knows how to get people going.
So good you're not only keeping this tradition alive, but showing how it can be relevant to modern lives.
She was a music teacher at my school!! :)
I just had a chance to meet her at the International Women's Music Festival In WI. I was mesmerized by the sticks and the rhythm. It took me to another place....long ago place. Blessings and Peace Melanie.

I loved it and Melanie DeMore is a terrific artist/teacher! She has given spirited workshops for Cal Performances and will be part of the performing arts center's Fall Free for All September 26, 2010 and will lead a free Stick Pounding event on the UC Berkeley campus.
Oh my god, this is wonderful! I would love to learn the history behind all this. And actually do it lol. We have a similar tradition here, but it's rather ancient and it's not kept up any, just as history.
Love this!
Yesssss! ❤️
Very cool! Love it! I would love to do this!
But I have real drums. You ain't gonna do Ginger Baker with that ramshackle hardware.
