    it's amazing how OU had to travel to Lincoln 3 times in 4 years and beat them all 3 times..twice when Nebraska was ranked number 1..pretty impressive

      When OSU came into the "Big 7" in 1957 it messed up the conference schedule, so this was part of the conference's plan on how to reconcile scheduling. OU also played at Iowa State in 86 and 87, and OSU came to Norman both years.

    @Mr420woo If your memory only goes back to the 90's then you don't know what you missed out on. I was at the Game of the Century on Thanksgiving Day 1971 (NU 35 OU 31)....I was there in 75 when OU whupped #2 NU 35-10 and I was there 2 years later in 77 when OU whupped NU 38-7. The 1971 game and the 1987 game are my two favorites.

    I could watch the old wishbone footage all day.....great memories...ths game especially, after the freaking media pissed on OU and got us knocked down to # 2 because we "didnt deserve" to be #1 and then we go to Lincoln and beat down Nebraska.

      Arrow J Smith. 73 ? NOTRE DAME won it. they beat The Gumps 24 --23. 78 ? Should not have been given the NC. USC rolled the Gumps behind Charles White. only 79 U Teabagger.

    • @wildmercuryfilms
      @wildmercuryfilms 5 лет назад +1

      ArrowJ Smith In 1973, the Tide lost the bowl game to Notre Dame. Before that, the UPI (the coach’s poll) awarded their national title before the bowl game. Alabama’s loss that year persuaded the UPI to begin awarding the National Titles after the bowl game. In the AP Poll, which was taken after the bowl games, Alabama was #4. Also, if you look back, 4 or 5 of Alabama’s National Titles were fake because they were awarded before the bowl games, and Alabama would lose the bowl games. You can’t lose the bowl game and call yourself National Champs. For instance, Alabama also claims a National Title in 1964, but they lost the bowl game. The fake 1964 National Title that the Tide claims was one of the reasons the AP switched to awarding the National Titles after bowl season beginning in 1968. So 2 Alabama fake National Titles was the reason the major polls switched the timing of their voting.

      @@arrowjsmith153 I don't know about that. The Alabama-Auburn rivalry isn't that competitive is it? I mean, OU and Nebraska's rivalry has been dead for a long time anyway, but when it was rolling it seems better than Alabama-Auburn because Alabama usually wins big and most of the time, but I haven't paid that close attention.
