I am a superfan of obraztsova ,i think she has one of the rarest voice on earth ,but i think that she i s a wonderful Eboli,Ulrica,Azucena,Dalila ,Carmen etc but her amneris is very heavy for my taste .I think that the queen of amneris role s fiorenza cossotto .Anyway i love obraztsova ,I had the pleausre to hear her in pique dame Russia in 2008.i was speechless ,70 years old singing like that she was amazing
She is Amneris - such power. I first heard Fiorenza sing this on the LP with Monserrat Caballe as Aida. That was 30 years ago. She is still the very best Amneris...ever...
La signora Cossotto la meglio voce di mezo Soprano verdiano di tutti i tempi ho pottuto ascoltarla da diecto impresionante e anche mi pare per quelli eruditi o chi pensanno di serlo de la lirica che la vita della opera sta proprio nella capacitá di ogni cantanti poter cantar con la sua voce unica e irepetibile. il repertório dei grandi compositori come Verdi in questo caso .
Fantastic! Thanks for posting it. Re: the 1978 "soprano" album, the Rossini arias were conducted by Gabriele Ferro and the Verdi arias by Nello Santi. Excellent album...just very hard to find. The fact that she could sing these arias beautifully at 43 pretty much proves she could have taken on soprano roles during the 60's and 70's had she chosen to do so. .
she is so amazing. I have to say i slightly like the other version of her better from the Met 3 years before this one. But maybe thats because the subtitles are in english in that one.
