The throne of glass is one of my favorite books. Even though I am a guy, I love to read and see empowered women. keep up the good work. I love your channel!
Natasha from The Sun Is Also A Star. Loved her so so much. She was so relatable in her realness but with her background and determination you can see how strong she is.
I love this! Even though I only read one of these books it makes me excited to read the other books one day. Also, Oh My god I love Annabeth!!!!! Also everyone else from those books. Please do other themed recommended books, I feel like I know more about books, such as Code Name Verity, because you explain it a bit more when pinpointing on a certain topic in the book, then in a regular review.
great video! Some of my favourite female characters just off the top of my head are: Mare Barrow from the Red Queen series. I'm currently reading King's Cage and I love it. I also love Rose Hathaway, Lissa Dragomir from Vampire Academy series, Bella Swan from the Twilight Saga. I know there are more, but those are the only ones I can think of right now.
I also love Feyre from ACOTAR and ACOMAF because even though she went trough a really bad time, she found (with some help) a way to come back to light 😍
my favourite strong female characters ever are: - CAT BARAHAL in THE SPIRITWALKER TRILOGY by KATE ELLIOTT (Cat's cousin Bee is also a super strong female character!) - EVERY LEAD CHARACTER in the HIS FAIR ASSASSIN books by Robin LaFevers (do not be deceived by the floofy-blah titles and covers these books are EXCELLENT) - JACKY FABER in THE BLOODY JACK ADVENTURES by L. A. Meyer - THYMERA and ALISE in THE RAIN WILDS CHRONICLES by ROBIN HOBB - ISABEL in THE MEMOIRS OF LADY TRENT by MARIE BRENNAN - CIMORENE in THE ENCHANTED FOREST CHRONICLES by Patricia C. Wrede - SORAYA in THE FARSALA TRILOGY by HILARI BELL - FELICITY (also Gemma and Pippa and Ann but mainly Fee let's be real) in THE GEMMA DOYLE TRILOGY by LIBBA BRAY - EVERYONE in BEAUTY QUEENS by Libba Bray I apologize for all of the caps lock... I got really excited...
@livy xoxo In many states women are not allowed to get their tubes tied without the permission of their husband where as a man can get a vasectomy any time. Also, an explicit lack of rights is not the only way that people can be treated unequally. There arent really direct laws that explicitly discriminate against women but sexism still exists and is often especially directed at women of color. Feminism is about equality between men and women so part of feminism is fighting for men's rights as well especially when it comes to issues in family court, so asking what rights dont women have kind of negates the other half of feminism. I hope this helps and if you have more questions or dont understand please feel free to ask.
well mine are probably: - ARYAAAA STARK THAT GIRL IS BADASS AND MY FAVORITE GOT/ASOIAF CHARACTER - Izzy Lightwood & emma carstairs of course - hermione granger & ginny weasley - of course Katniss Everdeen - Cleo from falling kingdoms (maybe not that strong in the physical form but damn she is never afraid to speak her own mind and has her own agendas and in my opinion she is just badass) - Rose hathaway like I loveeee her sooo much - Annabeth Chase cause girl got some brains and I wouldn't pick a fight with her or otherwise I will be judo flipped - paige mahoney from the bone season (like girl hot some nerves and badass kickass skills. Would absolutely NOT mess with her) - Blue Sargent (noy my favorite book series everr but I do really like the characters and i just love that jane can be a raging feminist)
OMG BEAUTY QUEENS YESS!!!! I never would have thought i'd love a satire so much. It wasn't perfect (off) but it made me think like no other book has before, and has always stayed with me! When you mentioned it i literally screamed! Perfect choice Hailey :)
I agree with Nina, but Inej is amazing! I like Inej slightly more. I'm a pretty big fan of Alice. Celaena, I agree and while I like her, I'm not head over heels. Manon is a different story, I love her and Lysandra is really growing on me. Nehemia may have been my favourite character in the series. Annabeth is amazing, I love her and she was probably my hero growing up. Verity, I have no words. Lia really annoyed me, I thought she got better by the last book but she annoyed me in book one. As for other strong female characters, I'll mention Hermione anyway and Luna Lovegood, Valkyrie from Skulduggery Pleasant, Thalia from Percy Jackson, Vin from Mistborn, Jean from Locke Lamora, Sabriel and Lirael from Abhorsen, Alyss and Evanlyn from Ranger's Apprentice, Evanjalin from Finnikin of the Rock, Violet (and Sunny even though she's a toddler) Baudelaire from a series of Unfortunate Events. I think I'll stop here.
I read Code Name Verity, because of you and I LOVED it. Verity became one of my all-time favorite characters! Now I guess I'll have even more books in my TBR from this video! :) I just love reading about strong women. My other favorite is Jo Montfort from These Shallow Graves - she is just awesome. :)
Cassiopeia "Cassie" Sullivan from the Fifth Wave series is definitely an awesome, strong, all around badass (yet relatable!) character. If you haven't read the series, definitely do so.
Samirah from the Magnus Chase (series?) is one of my favorite female characters. She's a girl, she's discriminated against for her religion, her family isn't too supportive about her dad being Loki, and she still powers through and fights for what's right. I just love her so much
Hailey I love that you make a point to recommend all different kinds of books to your audience! You always mention your school, or the classes you're taking in your videos, and I'm wondering what school you go to, and what program you're in?
One of my favourites has got to be Penryn from Angelfall by Susan Ee! She's bad-ass to the point of being able to put an Archangel in his place, with ninja-like fighting skills and a witty sense of humour.
The one thing that annoyed me about Annabeth was that she stereotypically fit the role of smart Athena kid. If she was an Ares kid trying to break that stereotype, that would be a bit cooler. Also, she isn't that independent all the time. When Percy went missing, she just moped around and spent hundreds of dollars trying to find him. She's great otherwise, but that one moment irritated me.
I strongly recommend the Little Women books because not only are they classics, they're also a great example of strong women with unique personalities and strengths. I think these books are also incredibly interesting because the characters were so radical for their time and show the facets of early feminism. I also love that they are strong women without being physically strong or aggressive, since it's sometimes hard for me to relate to the warrior trope.
SCARLETT LOST IN THE FIVE LANDS by Rajendra Sarilla is the one of the best fantasy books with powerful female characters and mind blowing war scenes. I read it on Kindle since paperback was not available outside India.
I think the best female character I had ever read was Rachel Adams in the Defiance Trilogy by C.J. Redwine. She was such a great female role and her being so independent in a world run by men was SO inspiring and I just loved it.
Besides from the obvious characters (Hermione, Celaena, etc) my favorite strong females are Marcia and Jenna from the Septimus-Heap-series. Jenna is quite arrogant, but she knows how to get shit done. And Marcia is also not someone to fuck with. I love these two, especially because they're both in a relationship, but their boyfriends are mostly side characters. I guess you can say that these two defined my childhood.
Celaena is definitely my all time favorite badass female! But yes Nina is my favorite in SoC too! I also want a spinoff so so badly!!! In fact SPOILER I NEED Leigh Bardugo to write about Nina going back to Ravka and helping to rebuild and discovering her new powers and helping to find a cure for parem and most importantly- falling in love with Nikolai. I ship that so hard.
You really should read 'Bad Girls Don't Die' by Katie Alender! It's such a good book and I don't know if you'd like it, but you should really read it! I love it!
Isabelle from The Nightingale and Starr from the Hate U Give. Both of them stood up for their people and fought for justice to make the world a better place.
Honestly every female character from the Percy Jackson series are all so strong. A lot of them overcome their own struggles themselves and while most of them have love interests they don't always have to rely on them to do everything which is great.
My personal fave is still Inej :D I love her - and Nina as well, but Inej was just so strong. I think the word you said most in your video is "independent" :D Seems to me that all the strong female characters are automatically independet.
Isabelle Lightwood is my badass queen
The BookLand Princess Where did the signed book collection video go??

From now on I'm not going to look for a man for Valentine's Day, I'm going to look for a publisher :)
Natasha from The Sun Is Also A Star. Loved her so so much. She was so relatable in her realness but with her background and determination you can see how strong she is.
Yessss that's a great one!!!
I love this! Even though I only read one of these books it makes me excited to read the other books one day. Also, Oh My god I love Annabeth!!!!! Also everyone else from those books. I completely agree with you for Annabeth!! She's my absolute favorite female character because of how strong she is (and also because she kicks ass)
Nina is amazing, but Inej is my absolute favourite! :) Great video! ♥
Your recommended reads videos are my favourite!I always find a new book to add to my list
I love Annabeth and I’m sooo glad you included her in this list!!
I think June Iparis from Legend by Marie Lu is also a great female character.
I also love Feyre from ACOTAR and ACOMAF because even though she went trough a really bad time, she found (with some help) a way to come back to light 😍

I apologize for all of the caps lock... I got really excited...
^ I wrote this before I finished watching the video and didn't realize that you already mention Beauty Queens!!
*ALL FEMALE CHARACTERS IN EVERY SARAH J MAAS BOOKS* 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Books and feminism, two of my favourite things!
Melanie Martinez everyone is ewual
@livy xoxo In many states women are not allowed to get their tubes tied without the permission of their husband where as a man can get a vasectomy any time. the leads in illuminae and gemina are both kickass and are strong girls not strong despite being girls!!
well mine are probably:
- ARYAAAA STARK THAT GIRL IS BADASS AND MY FAVORITE GOT/ASOIAF CHARACTER
- Izzy Lightwood & emma carstairs of course
- hermione granger & ginny weasley
- of course Katniss Everdeen

Feyre from ACOTAR is such a strong female characters, one of my favourite of all time, if not my no.1 favourite!
Yay, another recommended reads! I think I've watched every one of these, I just love these so much! Good work
Jo march form the little woman series is my favorite, with Hermione of course! Xx
Hailey omg, you're almost at 100K!! That's crazy :D x
So glad you chose Annabeth!!!
OMG BEAUTY QUEENS YESS!!!! I never would have thought i'd love a satire so much. It wasn't perfect (off) but it made me think like no other book has before, and has always stayed with me! When you mentioned it i literally screamed! Perfect choice Hailey :)
No ones gonna mention Feyre in ACOMAF and Mor and Amren and Nesta.
Zahra Shameez I was thinking this! Feyre is one of my favourite characters of all time, if not my absolute favourite and she's so strong!
Code Name Verity has been on my TBR for the longest time, definitely need to pick it up now!
I love this. I would have added Rose Hathaway (Vampire Academy) and Sydney Sage (Bloodlines) to the list as well :)

Verity, I have no words.
Lia really annoyed me, I thought she got better by the last book but she annoyed me in book one.

AHHH CALAENA IS AMAZINGGGG
Cassiopeia "Cassie" Sullivan from the Fifth Wave series is definitely an awesome, strong, all around badass (yet relatable!) character. If you haven't read the series, definitely do so.
Lia from the kiss of deception is amazing! You read all my thoughts 💕 for me she's the definition of a strong independent woman 😁
This is such a great video idea
Samirah from the Magnus Chase (series?) is one of my favorite female characters. She's a girl, she's discriminated against for her religion, her family isn't too supportive about her dad being Loki, and she still powers through and fights for what's right. I just love her so much
Hailey I love that you make a point to recommend all different kinds of books to your audience! You always mention your school, or the classes you're taking in your videos, and I'm wondering what school you go to, and what program you're in?
I love Isabelle lightwood

Where did you get your shirt? It's beautiful.
Laura Hein I agree

One of my favourites has got to be Penryn from Angelfall by Susan Ee! She's bad-ass to the point of being able to put an Archangel in his place, with ninja-like fighting skills and a witty sense of humour.
A strong female character that I love is Wyatt in Insignia. I love how she is geeky and smart and uses technology and is just an overall badass!
Really loved this video! Great recs :)
Celeana and Nina
I love this video thank you so much for recommending these books 😊❤️
I strongly recommend the Little Women books because not only are they classics, they're also a great example of strong women with unique personalities and strengths. I also love that they are strong women without being physically strong or aggressive, since it's sometimes hard for me to relate to the warrior trope.
Rose from Vampire Academy and Feyre from ACOMAF!!
Great topic for a video!!
SCARLETT LOST IN THE FIVE LANDS by Rajendra Sarilla is the one of the best fantasy books with powerful female characters and mind blowing war scenes. I read it on Kindle since paperback was not available outside India.

Literally had to pause the video and scream because finally someone pronounces Nehemia the way I do and not as Nee-hee-ma haha
Valerie Ash lol that's how I pronounce it like what other way Is there to say it?
Christine and Regan and many other booktubers pronounce her name as Nee-hee-ma and it always bugged me :D

i love Celeana but i hate Aelin even though theyre the same person lmao
Yasssss girl power!!
I think red queen and ember in the ashes series have greatttt characters
Could you do male characters?
Honestly every female character from the Percy Jackson series are all so strong. A lot of them overcome their own struggles themselves and while most of them have love interests they don't always have to rely on them to do everything which is great.
My personal fave is still Inej :D I love her - and Nina as well, but Inej was just so strong.

I think all the awesome women in Front Lines and Marie-Laure from All the Light we Cannot See are my favourite strong female characters
Helen From An ember in the ashes Series. She is so. strong.
