I was expecting there to be a joke where the Robot Executives say they are only interested in airing shows about silly families that have overstayed their welcome.

Considering how they've re-done the same plots and jokes multiple times, yeah...Simpsons isn't the same. Sometimes it's funny, but its still dry. Meanwhile Futurama is doing solid and hope it stays.
I'd give Fry something really entertaining, by switching Calculon's genre from drama to action. I'd cast Bender with Calculon in this where they wear this cool armor and ride choppers through what would look like Edguy music videos. I call it Cyber Knights of Goldstone!!
Yeah, the Hulu mockery felt a bit too on the nose as well. The whole "Box Network" joke from way back was a much tighter cancellation/network bashing bit.
@lukeothedukeo Maybe it's because Fox was more strict and unpredictable with the schedule. That affected the show ratings and maybe they wanted avengue.
I hate/love how self-aware this show already is getting. "We can't bring this show back because nobody is buying anything from our ads". But crap shows that nobody likes live for far longer?
When a show only runs off nostalgia, is it really a good show? Only thing I see is copy and paste. The first episode didn't even have a story really, except the intro.
after watching this episode, i have a few criticisms (which may be completely invalidated in future episodes) 1. This episode in particular has a lot happening in a short time, i’m guessing because they’re trying to have a full episode plot *and* explain how the series is back in one 20-minute time slot, hopefully this isnt an issue in the next episodes 2. this season seems to be getting kind of overly topical, and might age badly, i dont think this will only apply to one episode if the teased episode titles are worth looking at 3. as a (bad) amateur animator, i think that animation quality has gone down, especially on things like bender’s eyes on the positive side, the humor is as sharp as ever and the characters don’t seem to have lost themselves more than they already had over the series’s run
They made a way too many jokes referencing the cancelation of the show. It was funny at first, but it got old and then they made the whole plot of the episode openly about it.
I mean, to be fair, they got bragging rights considering this show was cancelled for 10 years 😂 I’m sure these jokes will stop after ep 1, I don’t see why they would go on writing about the same thing.
@@stuartmacleod7466 he died in the episode with the actor who wore a bag on his head, he was resurrected a couple of seasons later and then in the same episode where he was resurrected he was killed by a falling light rig.
Doesn't feel as good as the previous seasons so far. Especially after the amazing sendoff episode that they had in the last season. Seems like more of the very same, but weaker
Seriously good question however. I think the answer is part the joke in this clip. The execu Bots weren't going green light the show until there was an up tick in merchandise sales. High viewership is nice, but viewers that pay are even better. Spoiler, at the end of this episode the show gets cancelled. After Fry stops watching, and buying things. So if you love Futurama. Buy things.
How does this feel more outdated and behind the times now then back when it was on before? Answer: because all the did was push copy paste a bunch of times like all the other reboots, prequels, and sequels
It's like it was all done in a "Make Your Own Cartoon" game, where it's all pre-made drag-and-drop assets, or like someone sold Hulu some bootleg Futurama. The writing is off, the delivery is weird, the animation is AWFUL - look at the guard when he gets punched and then just freezes for the next 2 seconds in that awkward position... or the positioning of the robots in the next scene - where does the purple-bots treads touch the floor? Her treads overlap with the green-robot, it kind of looks like she's floating.
My theory is that I think the writing teams that were involved with the previous 10 seasons just aren't with the studio anymore. It would explain why everything about season 11 just feels so flat and kind of nothing feeling and why the comedy just isn't sticking the landing quite as it used to so far.
Man these jokes are just not landing at all. This season is starting off pretty rough and is not leaving me with a good enough impression of how the rest of the episodes will turn out quality wise. So far my opinion of this season is still on "should've stopped after the last season" at the moment.
