Vinnie could hold his own against any great drummer from any genre. I am the world's biggest Neil Peart and John Bonham fan, but when I hear someone proclaim that either one is "the greatest drummer of all time" I just think of drummers like Vinnie and think of how pointless and silly of a statement that is. There are too many greats, in too many genres, with too many different styles and too many different standards to measure by.
I had this on video tape, got it free when I bought a snare back in 2002, so guessing it's from that yr, I remember it was to promote the A Custom Fast Crashes, think it was about 30mins the full video, my tape player ended up chewing it up lol.......
of course i click thinking there was some incident recording in Hong Kong! nope its a classic fusion song title! and it was the best few moments of fine drumming too! that odd time in the solo was awesome and tasteful.
Rare indeed! I tried to edit the sound from the studio album. It was perfect since the first fill which was different! This is unfortunately not the take from the album.. But it's great anyway to see Vinnie in that situation! Thanx for the upload ;-)
I thought the same thing. Vinnie is light years beyond most drummers including myself but he is beating the shit out of that ride cymbal. Perhaps he's intentionally going for a particular sound on this session. Even so, at a certain point of volume, the cymbal doesn't sound good anymore.
Amazing drumming from an amazing player! But JFC, what was this recorded with? A Casio calculator watch?! lol. I know it was a while ago, but i've heard recordings from the 50s that had better quality than this.
Cymbal abuse… lol it’s not even musical the way he is thrashing that ride… not to mention it just sounds like crap. I know he’s the best drummer in the world… but, still…
Every single vid of vinnie is rare lol
The most versatile drummer ever.
Man! I remember when Joes Garage act 1 came out and I was hooked on Vinnie.

Ive said the same many times. No one is better in terms of technique and creativity.
the more notes the better
Peart and Bonham? Really?
So good in such a rare way. A weird blend of power and subtlety.
Fantastic!
Beautiful displacements.
One look at this man’s hands is all you need to know what’s up. Nobody, absolutely nobody moves the sticks like he does.
Seen Vinnie with Jeff Beck a few times.
He is a beast on the drums.

Man I got tired of that A Zildjian sound though anyone else?
Omg yes!!!!
Really? Haha I like the fast crashes and 10" splash
It’s from the video he did with/for Zildjian introducing the new A Custom line. I still have a copy of the whole thing.
of course i click thinking there was some incident recording in Hong Kong! nope its a classic fusion song title! and it was the best few moments of fine drumming too! that odd time in the solo was awesome and tasteful.
Alucinante !
I never get tired of this video. The drums are played the way they should be, and they sound the way drums should.
still love your drumming!!
OH so it is a song called The Hong Kong Incident. Good. Had the thought I was gonna watch some video of a drumming legend getting injured or something
He looks like a kung fu master.
Great drummer 🤗
HELLO AND THANK YOU CRISTIANO FOR PUT THE VIDEO IN HD, YOU CAN PUT ALL THE VHS IN HD OR HOW YOU DO THAT
RAFA F L
trop bon !!!!!
cool

Something tells me he was not happy that day.
Great song from the Jing Chi album. Too bad the sound quality sucks. Way to tinny...all you hear are the cymbals for the most part.
Damn
Wlil you post more of Vinnie's recording on the same album?
Thanks Mariusz, I'm glad you like it!
1:05 to 1:05. I thought the Incident would be the cymbal going to fall down or something.
Seems fairly incident free to me.
I always jokingly referred to this video as “The Cymbal Incident”….Was an A Custom promo vid I believe.
Yes it was, I received it on VHS once I bought the A Custom series
Vinnie’s drumming swings in a way very few drummers ever attain.
blah blah blah.
It's fine that he's your favorite but shut yo bitch ass up
I thought I was a pretty good drummer, but now I feel like I have a footprint on my ASS!!!!! 👍
I think that's how every drummer feels when watching Vinnie :)
Fuck yea
How loud are Vinnie's cymbals, bet no bellend bass players EVER told him to play quieter!

Great drumming by Vinnie, but what's with the audio? Sounds like it was recorded off a cell phone. Frequency response about 200Hz to 6000 Hz.
I was watching/thinking what’s gonna happen? but then realized it was prob just the name of the tune.
[Bill Burr voice:] Doh, jzheezhussh...

Recorded in 1996 on a potato
Much crash!
Technically proficient fkd up drumming
i think the audios bit rate is 0.003 kbps .. it is like ceek or lunC price :) bu vinnie is playing like BTC :)
Great drummer...Horrendous audio
Needs more cymbals 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Played with Zappa
Rare, and trrrible
terrible audio man .... what´s the point of posting this?
It's taken from an old VHS that's why the audio is terrible .. But you don't have to watch it
He’s a very good drummer
He’s a great drummer
Wanna know how to get a TON of attention on YT? Make a comment like "meh, he's ok but ___ is better" 😅😅
Thanks for posting this!
Why no cowbell?
Ajd bre skini se s tog rajda, vise.
Sounded better with Yamaha
Nice brand new shiny cymbals impressed me more than his actual playing. Meaning he sounds like everybody else. Good but common.
Heh, post your playing
I dig his drumming. But he’s played a lot of bad music. And maybe it’s the recording, but his cymbal set sounds pretty crappy here.
Cymbal abuse… lol it’s not even musical the way he is thrashing that ride… not to mention it just sounds like crap. I know he’s the best drummer in the world… but, still…
