I can't really agree about being underpowered. For a 1.5 it is pretty powerful. Easily in sports mode goes 180km/h and it accelerates 0-100 in under 10 sec. Not sure what you are looking for in a 1.5 engine :)
Gibbon my civic 2012 2.4 liter have 215 hp. Fun but not still so powerful 0-100 into 6,5 sec i guess. But it's fun to drive around town. Crz get desastrous sell cause of power lack
I think because you look at it and assume it will be really fast. Maybe in the next model should they come back. Make it do 0-60 in 7-8 seconds. So its fun but not over the top. But MPG needs to be over 70+
This car is quirky but ahead of its time in a lot of ways too , I have a lot of things that are just recently becoming more main stream. I have a 2011 CR - Z with 170k I got it at 46k the one big issue is driving fast enough to keep up with cars considering 200 hp is low as of today my gas mileage is 26-31 mpg but I love the 3 modes, paddle shifters , factory subwoofer , navigation , and decent buckets . Also I’ve only done tires , brakes , and oil changes and filters and plugs , it has only not turned over 1 time in 4 years 125k miles due to leaving a light on
If it had like 20-25 hp more, it would be a great car! It's alright, but this car really should have a little bit more oomph accelerating. But nevertheless, it's combining economy with a little bit of fun, so it's a compromise! I have this car for two years now, riding 50.000 kilometers. I commute to work every day, 50 kilometers, roughly one third inner city, one third out of towns, one third autobahn, and whenever I am on the autobahn, I'm driving speeds beyond 180 km/h. Oftentimes I'm going top speed of this car. Still, I got an overall average of 7.3 liters per 100 kilometers, which is 32.2 mpg. That's really something, I think!
I bought a bran new 2011 CRZ and still drive it today. Killer mileage. Plenty of room being a hatch back. (No extra speakers) and has plenty of power for me. I do not do much highway driving. You did not mention any visibility issues. I think it has blind spots. I only use the mirrors because when I look over my shoulder I can miss seeing a car. I live in FL so it’s hot, the CRZ will shut off the air Conditioner when it shuts off at red lights. I love Honda ! I would buy a CRZ convertible in a second. That would take care of ac and blind spot issues.
And there's also a plus with this car: It has 100.000 kilometers now, I for myself have it for 50.000 kilometers, and all I needed to repair or replace is windshield wipers, a pair of tires, filters, floormats and recently brake pads and disks. Oil change, of course! I used to have german cars mostly, and they were much less reliable.
Did you end up getting it? I also have a manual but it's an old civic, looking to get something more modern. How do you like it if you ended up buying it?
the reason the back gets dirtier than the rest of the car is bc of down force a lot of cars do this epically ones designed like fast backs or with big spoilers any thing causing that extreme down force

Did you ever get one? I had 2 del Sols in my time, an EF Hatch, a CRX, and an Integra…I ended up with a 2013 CR-Z and I love it, and yeah, I can take a nap with the seat reclined.
Hey bro, something that made a big change for me is putting in premium fuel in my CRZ starting this year, it gives it a few more horsepower it changes the daily driving capabilities and increases range so the extra cost of premium is almost negligible. Just try it out and see if you notice a difference, I swear it's like a 10hp increase, I haven't confirmed it though.
does your subwoofer cause any problems like drawing too much power from the battery?? i have a 2 12 inch sub and a 3800w amp from my civic snd wanna put it in my 2011 crz but just a bit nervous
you cannn, but it will cause a premature death to your battery and possibly even your alternator with extended aggressive use. everything will work and run correctly tho. just dont bump them like youre in a suburban lol keep em turned down a little compared to the civic
I’ve heard that some people complain about the rear visabilty due to the giant blindspots. How is it for you, or anyone else who also owns a cr-z? Is it easy to look over your shoulder to change lanes?
You'll have some trouble when parking. Apart from that, it isn't that bad. Since you have a really low car, you often get blinded from the rear by trucks and SUVs. That's not a problem with this car, because the "blind spot" between the upper and lower rear windows shuts it down pretty much😂
I had a 91 civic si with a swapped ZC engine from Japan. Great mileage and runs great until some mexicans stole it and stripped it and left me tickets and impound bills. Not to mention all money i put in it. That car matched monte carlo ss on first gear. Anyways it had plenty of room and 4 seaters and easily moddable. It also looks hella sick. Haters keep smashing my windows for my radio too
I had the same exact problem with my car. I had to be creative to keep it from getting stolen in my neighborhood. Take into account it’s always people who live in the area that observe you that most likely try to steal it. I used a bike lock and sealed the seat to the door handle so when people would try to break in, they couldn’t open the door when they did manage to break in. The radio was added was custom built in that made it difficult to steal too. I then put a sign on the window that said “you are being watched and recorded, say hi to the camera” (didn’t have any cameras) and they never tried to steal the car after that. 😂
Blind spots. You don't have good rear vision due to angle of hatch glass . the rear side windows might as well not exist. Side mirrors are not wide enough. Power sucks and no satellite radio . am /Fm stations don't come in because of the shifty shark fin antenna. The CVT is as weak as the power of the motor. Front end is to long to see how close you are to parking curbs when pulling up to them. Also they all need center console arm rest.
Can you do a drive by acceleration video? Got a CRZ myself, and whilst there are loads of videos with aftermarket exhausts, there aren't any with stock. Just interested in what my car sounds like from outside!
unfortunately this video is a reupload. i currently have a muffler delete - center exhuast piping on mine. Although i can say stock it sounds very quiet. not much exhuast noise, more engine noise when you rev than anything. Kinda like the stock civic (not Si)
The blind spots are pretty bad. When looking in the rear-view mirror, the rear windshield is divided into two parts. This is annoying because you can not always see a vehicles directly behind you.
The engine in the car is not a "ZF1" zf1 refers to the chassis and body style like "EK" or "EG" on a civic... fuckin cringe... and wtf are you talking about the trunk is small? Its a hatchback and the seats fold down. It liferally has more storage than any other sedan or coupe honda of the same year...
I live in Europe. The battery costs here about 2740dollars (tax included)...I read about a price of 3k in the US. Only for the battery It doesnt make any problems. Normally
I called Honda UK yesterday and they said £240!? That'd about $300. I was sure to point out IMA and not the regular one. The girl seemed sure on the phone. So try calling your local Honda and find out!
$2400 from Honda, but used battery packs from salvage yards are abundant. $250 to $600 (30k miles on it) 2 hours shop labor for the R&R. Honda testing says it should last at least 150k miles.

ZF1 is the chassis code for the car. It has nothing to do with the engine. The engine code for the CR-Z 1.5 i-VTEC is LEA
What I don't like about my CR-Z is the rather cheap interior. It looks and feels like tupperware, and the seats start wearing out quite fast.
Puts big subwoofer in place that could expand his trunk space - meanwhile: trunk space is too smol

the japan version crz has back seats. unfortunately the american crz rear seats were taken out for safety protocols

Rear visibility is bad honestly but you need to get used to it.

mine is a 2012 and it does not have the sub woofer, turn on the AC for the heat complaints.

If a car is directly behind you, you should 100% of the time see it. The only time the divider blocks a car is when they are a mile behind you
