Wow, Santappan...you are lucky to have such fantastic Malayalee guide to explain everything about Vatican and Rome to you. I just stayed at a Hotel near St Peter's square in 2017 when I was there. I had an Irish friend / travel companion who knew much about Italian history. Rome is so beautiful. Travellers from India should go there. Yes many European cities spend a lot of money on maintainling , renovating age old historical buildings. Here in Brugge town in Belgium where I live, they do not allow to touch any old buildings, age old houses. If you change the exterior of any building , you get a big fine, and also you have to bring it back to the original old self. Not even allowed to paint window frames in the colour we like. You heard it, from your guide Santo, 40,000 or more tourists arrive daily in Rome.....to see the whole historical city.

Wow, Santappan...you are lucky to have such fantastic Malayalee guide to explain everything about Vatican and Rome to you. I just stayed at a Hotel near St Peter's square in 2017 when I was there. I had an Irish friend / travel companion who knew much about Italian history. Rome is so beautiful. Travellers from India should go there. Yes many European cities spend a lot of money on maintainling , renovating age old historical buildings. Here in Brugge town in Belgium where I live, they do not allow to touch any old buildings, age old houses. If you change the exterior of any building , you get a big fine, and also you have to bring it back to the original old self. Not even allowed to paint window frames in the colour we like. You heard it, from your guide Santo, 40,000 or more tourists arrive daily in Rome.....to see the whole historical city.
