    ....................................................................................................................
    Mike has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old, and from that first moment his love affair with music and the instrument began. Fresh out of school at the age of 16 he attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford and completed a year-long Diploma course.
    After finishing the ACM his life as a full time musician began, playing in numerous bands and touring up and down the country playing iconic venues such asThe Shepherds Bush Empire, The Astoria, The Underworld and London’s Jazz Café. He’s also been fortunate enough to support industry legends Paul Weller, Blondie and Katie Melua.
    Mike’s session work has led to his working on a variety of projects - from performing with stars such as Ricky Wilson and Diana Vickers, to appearing in many TV shows and adverts. Mike loves being on stage performing, but is equally at home recording in a studio - where he has worked with Alex Von Soos (All Saints, Seal, Atomic Kitten), Mike Horner (The Prodigy, Shakira, Bloc Party), and Mike Chapman (Blondie, Suzi Quatro).

    Good job, easy to follow both hands to really get down what is happening. I’m surprised how many bad double stop “tutorials” are produced by the guys I have been following on RUclips for over 5 years

    Many thanks for this, Mike. It was very helpful. I have been puzzled about how to learn double-stops, in terms of knowing what perspective it is best to adopt about where they come from (chords or scales), so it was helpful to hear you say that knowing the minor and major pentatonics was essential for this. Also, great to see The Beatles photos, and to know you are such a fan. Obviously, they are the best. Thanks again.

    A double stop is the technique of playing two notes simultaneously on a bowed stringed fret-less instrument such as a violin, a viola, a cello, etc.

      Hi Anthony, great to hear you enjoyed the lesson. I wouldn’t say I’m cockney but I understand what you mean. I know I have a “south” type of accent. I’m from Surrey but a lot of times people think I’m from Essex! Haha

    Thanks, Mike--you're truly a man of the people! Quick question: when you're in one of the pentatonic shapes, how do you decide where to find your double stops? Are you looking for notes that are spaced by particular intervals (e.g., 3rds, 4ths, 5ths), or is it something simpler, like playing any two notes in the shape that are on adjacent strings?

    • @MikeBradleyofficial
      @MikeBradleyofficial  7 лет назад +2

      Thank you Matthew, tbh its knowing the neck really well, once you get all your shapes down, the neck really starts to open up and you don't see them as shapes anymore.

      I do yes, but I still very much like the Hamstead and use it still for smaller gigs and studio work. But for the last year the Hamstead has been my go to amp.

    No Mike you're in shape 3. You would be in shape 4 if you were playing in C minor pentatonic.

    • @MikeBradleyofficial
      @MikeBradleyofficial  7 лет назад

      No, shape 4 for Am. But I understand what you're trying to say, but for beginners that will just confuse people by saying different shape numbers for the major.
