I came across this film while reading it about many moons ago on Latin New York magazine which is now out of print. It's a sad but funny story of a Cuban couple in exile trying adapt to life in another country, Ironically the story is very much relevant today. All in all, I enjoyed this film.
Being Cuban-American it warms my heart to see this film. I love my people and how hard they worked to achieve the American dream after escaping Communism and Castro. Thx for posting
. Vivi en Gurabo PR asimismo es. ...me vine a Miami...la nieve me gano........gran papel de Hidalgo El Gato. Bendiciones por tan lindos recuerdos.......
Great antique movie, specially for a born and raise New Yorker like me,even tho I wasn’t born during the 70’s era of this movie was film I can tell, the subways, streets, styles that was like during the 70’s here in New York City and of course the migration of Cubans, puerto ricans during the 1970’s and other cultures that this city had and still offers to migrants from all over the world specially Hispanics. Great awesome movie thanks for loading it on RUclips THANK YOU .
I first watched this summer’98 … during my intense obsessive attempt to get my Spanish good enough to pass the state interpreter exam … I loved the movie, the acting , and the time too . Fantastic job !
Único canal donde se puede ver este clásico, mil gracias por esta oportunidad de disfrutar esta película que aunque es viejita tiene mucho de actualidad y grandes actores, nuevamente gracias.
The greatest cuban american movie of all time 45 years later an cuban immigrants are still struggling the children don't want to speak Spanish an the parents don't want to learn english raymundo hidalgo gato give one of the greatest performance in movie history so it was zully montero to bad that raymundo die so young also Elizabeth Pena may they rest in peace
This film clearly had a low budget but it added to the raw reality of the characters' lives, especially the main protagonist. The only part that felt a bit forced was when he got a call from his brother about his mom dying. This happens right after he finds out his daughter might be pregnant (which later turned out to be a false alarm, which also reduced its reality). He already has a shit life as a super, so to be hit by the news of his daughter and then the news of his mother, you'd think he would explode. But then his daughter has a false alarm and he gets word of a job offer in Miami and so the film takes a Hollywood turn. This is not the reality for most people, but maybe the director/writer felt the audience needed some hope or uplifting moment.

Epic story of the Cuban diaspora. A reminder of the suffering caused by communism and a sad warning to the USA
