This film clearly had a low budget but it added to the raw reality of the characters' lives, especially the main protagonist. The only part that felt a bit forced was when he got a call from his brother about his mom dying. This happens right after he finds out his daughter might be pregnant (which later turned out to be a false alarm, which also reduced its reality). He already has a shit life as a super, so to be hit by the news of his daughter and then the news of his mother, you'd think he would explode. But then his daughter has a false alarm and he gets word of a job offer in Miami and so the film takes a Hollywood turn. This is not the reality for most people, but maybe the director/writer felt the audience needed some hope or uplifting moment.
0:44 What was the title of the music?
@@CARLOBOYS Requiem by Mozart
Absolute classic!
Some of the scenes were used in a History Channel documentary on KAL 007.
HBO really had some awesome movies back when it was only HBO, and not HBO 1,2,3....
Bud Spencer👍
Lovely. This movie should be more widely available. More like a made for TV movie than a feature, but really meaningful and felt, and such an absorbing glimpse into a culture. Grateful for Victor Nunez.
Movie of my childhood.
I love movies Bud Spencer man is a legend a big legend.
thanks for uploading and keeping this up for now.
"Captain Chun was my friend. We were lucky when we were young. We were fliers. We flew the plane! Now, the plane flies us. Captain Chun forgot that."
He was a Super Intendent of building and could barely speak English
*Das ist auf DVD nur mit deutscher Synchronisation, aber wen interessiert es, wovon sie reden, wenn es darum geht, den Hauptdarsteller nackt zu sehen*
Thank you for posting this. I'm a big fan of Gretchen Corbett, especially after meeting her in the early 1980s.
Lucky you. How was she like?
@@Politano1955 She was very nice. I only spoke with her for a minute or two. At the time, I was the manager of a very small movie theater on Hollywood Blvd. One Monday afternoon, who should walk in the theater but Gretchen. I couldn't believe it! I smiled at her and gave her a head nod... sort of of acknowledging that I recognized her. I further acknowledged that but telling her to to just go on in, when she took out her wallet from her purse to pay. No way was I going to allow her to pay. When she came out I called her by name, told her I was a big fan of hers and of The Rockford Files, and asked her if she would mind giving me her autograph. She was very happy to oblige. Do you know what she told me? She said this was the first day she left the house in the past two weeks! She had just gotten over the chicken pox! I still treasure this chance meeting to this day... and yes, I still have her autograph.
@@MrEdwardCollins Great story. I envy you meeting her. She was a big crush for me at the time. She's still beautiful today and has appeared in a few recent things. I met Stuart Margolin around 6 years ago. (He recently passed) He told me he had just done the play "On Golden Pond" with her up in Oregon where they played husband and wife.
@@Politano1955 Cool that you met Stuart! I'm a member of a Rockford Files Facebook group and half a year ago or so, I posted some photos of Corbett and Margolin together, in that play. Real neat that they were able to reunite and appear in it together.
@@MrEdwardCollinsI'm not on Facebook anymore or I would join that. Recently watched a feature movie called "Pig" that Corbett did a few years ago with Nicolas Cage. Filmed in Oregon where she lives. She's really good in it. Check it out if you haven't already.
Tengo Dvd. En La. Casita
That was alright for a low budget movie. Cool to see Jerry from Succession in her first role
Such a great film, and impossible to find, especially the German version on any media
And look what country talks about murder, sir, have no mercy on that tongue of Lucifer's snakes.
The greatest cuban american movie of all time 45 years later an cuban immigrants are still struggling the children don't want to speak Spanish an the parents don't want to learn english raymundo hidalgo gato give one of the greatest performance in movie history so it was zully montero to bad that raymundo die so young also Elizabeth Pena may they rest in peace
Interesting movie! I found the original story in Harpers magazine and that's even better than the movie.
42:00 minutes in and still no Rachael Leigh Cook. 😪

RIP director León Ichaso (1948-2023). Thank you for the memories.

CLASSIC💔
they filmed some of this at the airport in my hometown when i was a kid, I was in Civil Air Patrol at the time, and the plane landed as they do, all us kids were looking at the plane, C-123, and the crew was nice enough to show us around, as they were they got a call saying the film crew wanted to do some stock footage of the airplane, and the crew said if we had permission we could ride along...so we got a random adult to say ok and piled aboard. I contend if you look REAAALLLLLLLL close in the movie you can see me in the window waving. haha....prob not, but still, it was fun experience.
it's also filmed under the sky and also used the same oxygen that we all breathe, too
40 years ago today :(
I came across this film while reading it about many moons ago on Latin New York magazine which is now out of print. It's a sad but funny story of a Cuban couple in exile trying adapt to life in another country, Ironically the story is very much relevant today. All in all, I enjoyed this film.
Yeah that was all my fault. MB
Paul Reubens, it is so sad you are gone. REST IN POWER!!!!!!
1:26:34- Must be where they hold all people who make up crimes. Its a sickness and quarantine is the best prevention. 1:47:00 - Nice to see they gave Bud at least one movie, where the child character was actually likeable. "It can be done Amigo" - dislikeable due to be a little liar. Basically, sold his protector up the road. "Satellite Kid" - Highly annoying as the studio forced cuteness a bit too hard. With Flatfoot, the cute and adorable moments came naturally. They weren't forced.
I had a vhs copy. WGOD?
RIP Paul Reubens, here before being known as Pee-Wee Herman 26:17
any Romans in the audience give me a thumbs up
Hi! Does anyone know the name of the background music from 51:34 to 53:05?
I don't think that info's out there.
@@holybear It's possible that it might. There was a track from the first Flatfoot film (Piedone lo Sbirro) that I wanted and I found all of them on here as they were composed by Hill & Spencer's regular composers, Guido & Maurizio de Angelis.
www.beatrecords.it/shop.asp?lingua=e&idprodotto=DDJ27DLX&uscita=prox It's about to get a CD release!
@@holybear nice ! I will buy it
Okey cd bought I keep you in touch 😎
La pelicula es del 79 y parece del 2023 😂😂😂😂. El comunismo es 💩💩💩
So wouldn't KAL 007 have radar? One would think so. Was it functioning? If so, the pilot HAD to know something was on his six.
Commercial airliners have weather radar, they don't have the same radar as fighter jets.
So it appears Curtis Lemay (Recall the Cuban Missile Crisis?) types were just itching to go to war over this......
I remember watching this movie when it was first broadcast by HBO. I do remember the incident when it happened!
J smith Cameron is so beautiful UGHHH she still looks the same
The animals should have attacked the bad guys and help Bud Spencer
Being Cuban-American it warms my heart to see this film. I love my people and how hard they worked to achieve the American dream after escaping Communism and Castro. Thx for posting

I remembered a different start to this movie... that's wierd. Also - this is a superhero movie.
They need to get Naked Man (and Orgazmo for that matter) in the MCU
haha bodo 😆
