Respekt, wenn man in so jungen Jahren schon solch ein handwerkliches Können besitzt und so ein schönes Messer mit eigenen Händen herstellen kann ! Top !
That was all I needed for a first try. I already have the tools, and the steel in the homemade barbie easy was a brilliant simple thing I hadn't thought of (even after watching videos of middle east folk sitting around a fire pit!) It will be done, thank you.
Greta knife man, my buddy made it and it's surprisingly much sharper than my 1 day old Swiss army Gotta say you've got great talent and soon enough I think you won't be needing templates with such a creative and wonderful mind!
Beautiful blade and super craftsmanship. I noticed a couple of spots up near the grip and near the top that I thought were dings, but because they were in exactly the same spots on both sides of the blade I am assuming that they were a part of your craftsman mark. I thought the stylized M was pretty cool too. I am kind of partial to the forging process because the whole making something beautiful out of a lump of rock fascinates the hell out of me, but the way you make this Knife in this video is exactly the same, on a smaller scale, as the methods used in mass produced knives available everywhere. Your knives are more artistic because you make them singly or a few at a time and put a lot of thought and care into what you make. great job.
What a beautiful knife....nothing fancy just exactly what a man needs to perform what ever job he needs to with this beauty. I gotta ask.... Would you be willing to make me one just like this one and how much? You are a true blade smith and you proved that it can be with minimal equipment and make a quality top notch blade I would put up against any of the big names.
real nice vid, i use a 1x30 grinder for sharpening knives but i never seen a whole knife made using one start to finish, great job. Can you tell me what size grit you used ? was it something like a 25mm x762mm 80 grit? there harder to find in 1x30s thank you , good luck always
+DevilsDenBullies Yeah 25mm x762mm 80 grit is totally right! They are super hard to find, and if you can find them, you usually can't choose the grid you want. But I found out that there are a hand full of sellers on ebay that sell those belts. Little bit more expensive but they also seem to last longer! Thanks and have a nice day my friend!
MU Knives This video should be called "Making a Homemade Knife with Tools Budsygus Will Never Get to Own. Haha! Loser." In all seriousness, that's a beautiful knife, and the video was just perfect. I watched it because I'm fascinated by the process, but I didn't want a step-by-step instructional video so this was just right. Wish I had the disposable income to either buy a custom knife like that or buy the tools to make one for myself. Thanks for the vid, and please keep them coming!
Budsygus Hahahah :D I know what you mean. But those tools are not all that expensive. Cordless Drill 50-70$, Belt grinder (similar one) 50$, Angle grinder 60$ (But not necessary. You could do the same with a 10$ hacksaw.) etc. Thanks!
MU Knives Well, I've got my eye on an angle grinder that's around $30. I know it's not top of the line, but for how often I would use it, that's about the right price for me. As for the Belt Grinder, I didn't know they were only $50. I already have a drill. Hmmmmm... This might work! Thanks for the encouragement, and keep making those beautiful knives!
Budsygus Yeah go cheap on the angle grinder! You don't need a fancy one for what you are going to do with it! Mine was dirt cheap to! Give it a try and report back! I would appreciate it!
MU Knives Might be a while. I've, uh, overextended my purchasing privileges as of late. The wife wants to save for dumb things like a house and food for our children, but I AM hoping to get a Work Sharp Knife and Tool Sharpener (not the Ken Onion) for Father's Day. Any thoughts or opinions on those?
MU, what a cool looking knife man! You definitely have the talent. Better looking than many knifes by established businesses and knife companies. They outa be worried about young talent like yourself. Keep up the great work and keep sharing. I hope I can soon start making mine, but for sure I will follow your advice. I have a question brother can you or do you share this knife template or can you sell it? I really like this style and for someone like me with very limited tools, will help allot. Take care and thanks in advance for your help!
Thanks! The scales are made of G10. Looks kind of Micarta'ish, I give you that :) I did make a sheath for it. But my sheath-making-skills are nothing video worthy just yet ;) Have a nice day!
Do you have any pictures of you bevel grinding jig? It looks pretty simple yet very effective. Never mind. I just found your video on it. Simple, cheap, and very effective. Perfect.
this is just simple tools cheap 1 inch belt sander from harbor freight and disc sander from same place 100 bucks total and ur Makin knives, great job man.
you idiot the gasmask he put on didnt even have a filter on it making it useless to filter out toxins and he put it on because its a full face mask and the lenses are thick ballistic glass so he didnt get chips of metal in his face
That was awesome. How enlightening to find such incredible human talent with the click of a button. I love 2015, yet fear the future. You might come to be quite handy shortly friend. Good to see folks like you out and about.
This was absolutely amazing!!! That's a beautiful piece of artwork!!! By the way, I'm just curious: what brand/type of sanding machines do you use in your knife-making???
You've got really nice skills, amazing job. What about those scratches in the metal? Isnt there a way to get rid of them? or you just like them? I think that without them it looks way cleaner, feels like you bought one, well, maybe thats what you are trying to hide i guess. Another question, what if you add notes on what you're doing or how to do it, don't you think that would make the video more entertaining? Once again, well done.
Hello, great video! I was wondering how long did it take to do the sanding part of the knife and how many belts did you use? I've been thinking about making knives and am wondering what kind of belt grinder to get. P.S. Your Knives look awesome!
Patrick Rogers By sanding you mean just the bevel? About two hours and two belts I think. For a beginner knife maker I would suggest a 1x30 inch belt sander like shown in the video. For about 60$ it's an awesome tool to have.
Many thanks , the quality grind you get with such a simple bevel jig is amazing, you make it look so easy, which is great for starter guys like me, makes me believe I could do that with a bit of practice.......
haha made me smile when you said im your father :) earned a new subscription keep up the amazing work ! im gonna be here to support you for the long run knives look highly professional! :)
Awesome video! Three questions (if you have the time to answer them): 1. I have all of the tools except the belt sander. How would I substitute that? 2. What kind of glue do you use? 3. What are the pins in the grip and where do you get them. I am going to try this, dammit! My wife will probably find me dead in the garage in a week...
Ok let's do this: 1. Use a hand held file. It takes some time but will work just fine. That is what I did for my first couple of knives! 2. Get a belt grinder! This is one of the most usefull tools you will ever own! Not only for knife making. I am using it for just about anything. The small ones are quite cheap too! 3. The glue is called Epoxy. There are different types of epoxy. Some types harden within 5 minutes, some take up to 24 hours to fully cure. (60-90 min. cure time is perfect for knife making) 4. The pins are aluminium rod. Nothing fancy. Not expensive. Hardwarestore. 5. The Handle material is G10. That's fiber-reinforced plastic. Really nice stuff. Not cheap, but not terrible expensive. Since it is much easier to work with wood, maybe consider that for your first knife handle. 6. Have fun. 7. Don't die!
Nice looking knife. I have a question, I saw you drill the holes in the metal part of the handle, at what point did you drill the holes in the mycarta portion of the handle. when they appeared on the video they already had the holes drilled. Thanks
John Curry You can drill them right after you drilled the holes in the steel. I had to use my grandpas drill press. It's important to get them as straight as possible otherwise it's going to be a pain in the ass to get those pins in.
1:30 Don't you just hate it when your oven multiplies your knives?
Yeah ... It happens all the time :D

Btw, where did you get that vise?
Beautiful blade and super craftsmanship. It's one of the most beautiful knives I've ever seen.

Jeremy Arnold look up . I already adressed my mistake.
tristy-popstheman use sand paper
Beautiful knife! Loved the paracord sharpness tests at the end! Most people just do paper, but cutting cord is a great proof the knfe is sharp.
+NUMan14 Yeah that's what I thought. Thank you very much!
Wow,well done!and no talking crap for ages, easy to follow!
Thanks for the video. It was handy for someone like me thinking of getting into making knives. I enjoyed it. Nice end result too.

Knife liked it! The job well done, it was good sport, and most importantly very sharp!
What a beautiful knife....nothing fancy just exactly what a man needs to perform what ever job he needs to with this beauty.
I gotta ask.... Would you be willing to make me one just like this one and how much?
You are a true blade smith and you proved that it can be with minimal equipment and make a quality top notch blade I would put up against any of the big names.
lol love the little .22lr rounds at the end for an added, extra, touch
Great video. Do you think you will ever make one on balisong(s)/butterfly knife(s)?
Nice design and finish work! Thumbs up!
Do I need to cook pizza to make this knife ? ^^
No you see THAT IS THE KNIFE
Yes, when you cook a pizza past 475 degrees Fahrenheit, it becomes heat tempered steel
Sehr schönes Messer, gelungene Klingenform und super Griff. Macht Laune auf´s selbermachen.

Never mind. I just found your video on it. Simple, cheap, and very effective. Perfect.
Awesome demonstration... You are the bomb...
this is just simple tools cheap 1 inch belt sander from harbor freight and disc sander from same place 100 bucks total and ur Makin knives, great job man.
nice job man great build!!
Very cool. One question: Is the respirator necessary? I ask because I'd like to try this but want to be safe about it.
you idiot the gasmask he put on didnt even have a filter on it making it useless to filter out toxins and he put it on because its a full face mask and the lenses are thick ballistic glass so he didnt get chips of metal in his face
Really good video! Might I ask at what temperature do you leave the oven on to temper the knife? Thank you!
zombieteenager007 Depends on the steel you are using. For my steel (90MnCrV8 (ANSI O2)) it was 190°C (374°F) for one hour!
MU Knives Cheers, mate!
Love the throwing it down each section
That was awesome. How enlightening to find such incredible human talent with the click of a button. I love 2015, yet fear the future. You might come to be quite handy shortly friend. Good to see folks like you out and about.
It's amazing what simple materials can nake
Really nice. Great work !
Pretty damn good looking knife.
Beautiful knife!
This was absolutely amazing!!! That's a beautiful piece of artwork!!! By the way, I'm just curious: what brand/type of sanding machines do you use in your knife-making???
+Sonster9K It's a 1x30 inch belt sander made by Woodstar. I would not recommend it though. Could use a little more power!
Beautiful knife bro great job 😊😎😋😉👍🏻
You've got really nice skills, amazing job. What about those scratches in the metal? Isnt there a way to get rid of them? or you just like them? I think that without them it looks way cleaner, feels like you bought one, well, maybe thats what you are trying to hide i guess.

FIRST!
Was nutzt du für eine Schleifmaschiene, überlege nämlich auch ins Messer-Buissnes einzusteigen... :)
1 x 30 inch (25 x 762 mm) Bandschleifer. Einfach mal googlen. Gibts von vielen Herstellern!
MU Knives what kind of handle material was that ???
MU Knives yes what handle material, was it micarta ?
trey tolbert It's G10!
Awesome video man! I am planning to make my first knife, and this is my favourite of the videos in youtube. Could you share the template please?

Dmitry 2010 Thank you! I am glad you like it!
Very nice video! I like this model very much but a litlle longer blade. Were can i get a print of this? Whant to try my self :)

Wow! Cool knife
You do great work!
Im beginning knife making, could I ask what type of steel did you use in this video.....knife looks cool...................thanks
SmoothRider107 it’s some german steel called 1.2842 ...
Many thanks , the quality grind you get with such a simple bevel jig is amazing, you make it look so easy, which is great for starter guys like me, makes me believe I could do that with a bit of practice.......
SmoothRider107 what was the sell btw

i like the choice of pre heating your oven :P
beautiful knife, AND .22lr, you sir know how to make an eye catching image for a video.
Nice knife! What steel did you use?
Jerry Morris That's german 1.2842 (90MnCrV8) steel. It's quite similar to ANSI O2.
Awesome Work
Very nice knife.

Great job very nice knife
I knew it was too good to be true!
Forgot to mention the pizza bub!!
that's one slick knife
i'm impressed... sharp
Awesome video! Three questions (if you have the time to answer them):
1. I have all of the tools except the belt sander. How would I substitute that?
2. What kind of glue do you use?

Great advice. You da' MAN. Much appreciated!
that's one beautiful knife
Nice looking knife. I have a question, I saw you drill the holes in the metal part of the handle, at what point did you drill the holes in the mycarta portion of the handle. when they appeared on the video they already had the holes drilled. Thanks
John Curry You can drill them right after you drilled the holes in the steel. I had to use my grandpas drill press. It's important to get them as straight as possible otherwise it's going to be a pain in the ass to get those pins in.
Impressive video! Good job!
PSG アニメファン Thank you! I am glad you liked it!
Excellent job.
Thanks!
