Am I the only one thinking this would have a bigger impact and meaning if the commerical was completely silent?
THE coOmErCial WoUlD hAVe a BiGger iMpaCt if IT was SileNT. WHAT?in what world is it a good idea to make a commercial SILENT.
Facts
No she’s screaming for a reason
@@dankdak5344 Well let's use our critical thinking. The commercial is for a Facebook basketball group that is deaf. Deaf people can not hear. Therefore the people in that group watching this commercial hear absolutely nothing. We all should hear absolutely nothing thus allowing us to experience what the people in that group face every day. Based on your comment I feel like I'm wasting my time explaining this to you. It's obvious you've never heard the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words".
@@maliabreeding4955 and what would that reason be?
What a great commercial! As a grandmother to two hearing impaired grandsons this makes my heart happy! Love! Love! Love!
The next time I hear that screeching voice again, I’m going to throw something at my tv 📺
Its oh so quiet by Betty Hutton
Thank youuuuuuu
Great song choice because the ppl in the commercial are....never mind
@@capsonmonson6183 honestly, everyone’s acting like it’s a terrible song because it’s loud
I know
She says george
Really? Do you have to blow out my eardrums with that horn section?
This commercial made me want to be deaf so I don’t have to hear that song anymore!
get a boom box in your ear listen to rockstar song and you will become deaf naturally. you become a rock star deaf :D
😂🤣😭
It’s a great song you have no taste
lol came here to figure out the name of the song
@@Mudboy44 same lol
This seems like the completely wrong song for this ad. I can’t believe someone okayed it
Right
Exactly. A dumb choice on their part.
What song would be more fitting, The Sound of Silence??
@@laneatkinson6441 lol
Man the deaf will love these jams!
Proof that Facebook is awkward, clueless and doesn't actually understand the people they think they represent. Fantastic concept, Facebook groups, and even this commercial would make sense except for the God awful music that totally blows the whole meaning of what it is like to be a deaf person who engages in enjoyable social activities, (something Facebook has failed to do.)
The song is cringe worthy, I make fun of it every time
I thought I was the only one who thought the music was distasteful.
Yes! I really liked everything about the ad but the song. As another comment said, it would have been more impactful if it was completely silent.
i like bjork and i like the song but it’s not fitting for the commercial
@@spoother785 Unfortunately for me, it just brings Bjork with that awful swan dress for the Oscars in 199xxx something...
The song "heard" most often before electro-shock therapy.
My mother and I used to drive to piano lessons together when I was young and every time we'd travel we'd sing this song and literally scream at the top of our lungs when the girl sings it. We do not like the song, we just like to scream. I'm much older now and she sent me this video just to amuse me. :)
Beat commercial of the year so far, I’ll be back in December
Huhhh wtf 🤦
It amazes me on how much people can care about a song being on a commercial.
It’s just so good
Anybody know if these guys from the ad are real group members??? or are they just picture perfect actors hired for the commercial? if the later, shame on FB.
The song is great, but unfitting for the commercial. Not sure what Facebook was doing with this one.
Whats the ñame
@@brandynccasimiro6889 It's Oh So Quiet - By Betty Hutton.
@Captain Sandwich That's your opinion buddy.
I mean I know deaf people can't hear anything, but when the song said about it being so quiet I thought for a moment deaf people never ever hear anything. That's pretty crazy if you really think about it
yea it contradict it. im deaf but i can hear. I know some deaf people talking out loud and scream with a voice but doesnt mean they are screaming. that how is deaf culture is. They pity deaf but they are nothing wrong. :D
When I see the commercial, I think the song used mocks deaf people…it’s all so quiet…cuz you’re deaf! Kinda gross.
Love it! Let's play in Boston!
The person with the song choice must be thinking this is gotta be the most quietest game ever except for the sounds of bouncing balls and nets
Boa noite, um vídeo fantástico de bom.
I thought this commercial was promoting deaf people, not making people deaf
The cook guy is kinda cute..
Are these really deaf guys that play very inspirational
Yes if anyone knows how we could get these guys to play at TD Bank Garden what a sensation that would be for all people for all walks of life to know that anything you put your mind to is possible you just got to believe in yourself
yea he is he played in hs with kawai leanord tony snell as a fresh men when they were seniors at king riverside
Yes...I actually know one of them.
I came for the song 😂😂😂 it’s catchy 🤷🏽♂️
Just saw this commercial because I'm watch the game now. I know some people in this comment section thought that guy looked like drake lol
Idk why but I actually like the song
yeah it's a good song! it's from the 40s by betty hutton "it's oh so quiet." i have it on my youtube channel :)
Can’t wait to see our community in more commercials, more advertisements, more everything ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I just saw the info on my cable about your close too my heart.
Serious question, how do they warn their teammates that a screen is coming? I would imagine that they could like sign it, but they teammates would be behind them.
People say if you lose one of your senses. The other 4 heighten.
Hi there, I wanted to comment on your Meta video but the comments are turned off. Anyway, my friend Bart says this is beneath him and he didn't watch it.
I agree with him
Why does everyone hate this song it sounds nice
because it's annoying and doesn't fit with the comm'l.

0:08 good ad, but why did he send a video of himself using sign language...
Couldn’t he just write it down...
Probably easier than typing the whole thing lol
Exactly! Someone gets it.
By your logic, sign language shouldn't exist because they could "jUsT wRiTe iT dOwN". I'm subbed to a few deaf RUclipsrs, they're allowed to make videos just like anyone else.
@@laneatkinson6441 that is… not my logic
I’m saying it’s pointless to send a video of sign language when you could just write it down, but this only applies online
At no point did I say I think sign language shouldn’t exist
@@kmac291 But...it's not. ASL is its own separate language - it's not just signed versions of English words. What you're saying is that they should speak a different language to type their message when they're depicted sending it in what is (likely) their primary language.
They should do a womans deaf basketball. The USA deaf woman have won tons of Gold medals in Deaf Olympics.
Hi
Song is "Oh so Quiet" by Bjork
anyone know the name of this song?
It's oh so quiet
bjork song but this version isn’t bjork. no idea why.

ok.
Ok the song choice was bad but the actual song is great

I don't know why, but this commercial & group disturbs me

Facebook is a doomsday machine
Your time is over. Targeting me with this commercial is ridiculous. You could never figure out what I wanted to see when I was a user.
The music in this commercial is so f***ing IRRITATING
0:09 Why does he send him a video message, he could just text him.....
Not all Deaf are familiar enough with English to do so. ASL is their 1st language, English may be their 2nd.
@@catherinehuff2370 Only one major flaw in your ESL theory. 0:10 Above the video it reads in English and I quote "Hey Deafhoops we gotta set it up" If either individual was not familiar with English the slang term "gotta" would not have been used. They would have gone with the grammatically correct "got to" in order to avoid confusion.
People send video messages to each other all the time, why are deaf people exempt?? Use your brain for two seconds before you comment.
@@britshell I'm not familiar with the app the phone in the video is using to create the written English text for what the person is signing. That may have been added by the signer themselves, but I can't know that for sure. However, per your original question, "Why not just text his friend instead of sending a video?", ASL is a visual language, English is a written language. These guys are friends, and are familiar with their preferred methods of communication. How they chose to communicate is between them. Just like you have friends that prefer to only use text, Twitter, FB, email, or whatever, for communication methods. The Deaf are no different. And you're assuming their level of unfamiliarity of the English language would exclude them from knowing "Gotta" vs "got to". Hearing people have all different levels of understanding of the English language. Again, Deaf people are no different.
As a hearing person, who works with Deaf children, (so yes, I know ASL) my brain is exploding, at some of the ignorant comments, on this thread! WOW! Typical attitude, of “if it doesn’t affect me...I don’t care.”
I've read the comments, that hasn't happened once. As usual it's just people posting their opinions about things. What makes my brain explode is when people act slighted when literally nothing has happened to earn it.
Sad Fact: Deaf people can't hear this song
Fun fact: deaf people don't need your pity
How do you know? but I do know they can literally feel it.
