The Canucks did not "give up on Podz early". The dude had 5 years. Almost every single one of his peers in his range either cracked the NHL or got traded. Hell look at Krebs and Newhook. I'm just glad we got anything for him before his remaining value truly became stale. Wishh him well in Edmonton, but I think that franchise is in for some bumpy years. McDavid could turn into this generation's Ray Bourque.
It seems odd to take on a million in cap if they are trying to get space for one of the two other guys unless this guy has a two way deal. But maybe they are going to let Halloway go and make a trade and try to keep Broberg.
Strange move. VP has a $1 AAV deal on the books. Why? I'm going with Holloway at $2.29 AAV. VP looks like a bust. Looking forward to the news by Tuesday here at TSH.
Canucks had to trade Pods now for whatever they could get because they knew there was a good chance he wouldn't clear waivers come October. His contract is one way btw.
If kane goes on ltir as it seems is expected and oilers match Holloway and let broberg walk as also many seem to expect then they'll still be under cap with this trade...if I had to bet my pop bottles thats what I'd bet on anyways will happen
Just worried about the locker room in Edm....Guys are talking less to stay and yet these 2 haven't proved anything asking for big bucks....Understand its a business...but whatever they do they better make sure the core is onboard....
It is sensible as they have 2 years at a mil for a player to replace Holloway who was going to make near 3 mil for 2 years who was unproven. Clearly Holloway is gone but this means they’re most likely matching Broberg. Very shrewd by Edmonton and all for a net gain in the 3rd rounder from St. Louis and much lower cap hit. Incredible business for the situation.
@@barstar888 Exactly, the sensible thing would be to have had both players already signed instead of first going out and signing the likes of Jeff Skinner !
Vancouver wasn’t going to use him anyway and, it wasn’t working, he needs a fresh start. Not going to get much value out of him even though he was a former first round pick. If the Oilers can turn him into something it’s a good deal
Let me know your thoughts on this trade
Perhaps the oilers will flip podkolzin and a draft pick for another defenceman.Let both offer sheeted players walk! Take the picks!
@@xlv1000-dlw Could be but it's nice to see at least something is brewing with the Oilers!

Bowman magic 😅
As an Oilers fan I hate this because I love Holloway. Big fan of that kid!
Good fill for Holloway…I expect 2 boys will be singing the ‘Blues’….

Podkolzin help fill gaps of putting Evander Kane on LTIR?

He wouldn't have to clear waivers. He hasn't played 160 games, and he's not in his 5th nhl season yet.
@@TwoKrispy after checking a few websites they all agreed that he does require waivers. Check out Canucks Army.
I thought Edmonton had to shed salary not take it on.
They’re not matching Holloway imo.
It’s a contract that can be buried so it doesn’t matter

Vancouver clear a little cap space? maybe acquire top four defenseman or other?
Why not something more sensical like a trade for an offensive defenceman like Broberg?

Broberg is not a offensive d man.

I sure hope be takes off in Edmonton.
Great move.
Shouldn't the Oilers have waited until after Tuesday to make this AHL/NHL bust of a player deal? Oh wait Bowman.
Buy Holloway 🥲
He will be sent down by tomorrow, Canucks shed a good player and gain a million in cap relief
He can’t be sent down without waivers, he is no longer exempt
Oof
Knuckle heads 😅
Terrible trade
For who?

Broberg is a good player St.Louis paying too much money for him. Holloway should worth for 1.8 million.
