Atrac isn’t really meant to crawl out of sand the way crawl control does it like magic. Atrac is more so if a tire is off the ground or no traction, kinda similar to using lockers, there’s a ton of toyota guys I’ve heard have used their lockers only a handful of times and just use the atrac for almost everything the locker would work as well. Also atrac doesn’t really work if you slam the pedal down and try to power out of a rut, you gotta barely feather the pedal steady and slow and let atrac kick in and do its thing.
@@leav1ng99 They were in 4WD high at first. Than tried 4WD Lo w/ A Trac. Me personally. They were deep in there. So doubt anything would have worked but I Would have tried reverse and forward few times. While turning the steering wheel left to right. Easy on the throttle
crawl control is just atrac with computer controlled throttle. you can mimic crawl control with atrac. source -- Ive done it many times out of situations like this. slow and steady throttle.
exactly right. Atrac can be heard pretty loudly inside and outside the vehicle. Atrac was not used once in this video. Although I don't think it would have engaged in this situation, operating the pedal like that certainly won't allow it under any conditions.
Like G. Fortin said, this is not atrac. Slow and steady with the pedal. Gassing it too hard and letting off the gas both prohibit atrac. You will hear and see atrac when its working outside the vehicle. Its pretty audible and a little disturbing when you first hear it.
Don't know if she was just following your instructions or that's just how she does it, but simply flooring the accelerator, Seldom gets you unstuck, especially when it's dug in that deep, and if somehow you do extricate your vehicle, broken or compromised components are a result.
I wanted to test out all the off-road stuff on my TOR. A track got me out of all the situations but one, sand. Unused the crawl control...boom, out. Lol.
So A-Trac in meant bury all 4 wheels and leave you stranded in the desert? That what was demonstrated here Was everyone here waiting for it to walk right out there I was, Lol
Kinda like snow...once you reach that point of no return....then other options will need to be applied. Makes for good content tho...and it's fun trying to get unstuck...right??..hehe..
I know this old video but as soon as you discover wheel spin one should stop rather than bury the vehicle. The a-trac may have worked if used sooner. A common mistake people make. Just saying.
You can be stuck such that nothing will work. Lockers, atrac with low throttle, or high throttle or any of the dozen or other meaningless settings of throttle or off road modes. By the way, don't forget: Everyone is an expert!
It’s interesting that the 4Runner has a A-TRAC button to turn it on and off. Here in the rest of the world, our version of the 4Runner (i.e. Fortuner) automatically engages A-TRAC when you switch to 4WD. You can then manually disengage it by turning off traction control, and it automatically turns off if you engage the stock rear locker (standard on our trucks), which only works in 4LO.
Wish I knew this before hand I forgot to let off the gas the brakes held up all my torque to the front wheel then BOOM blew up my front right CV ball bearings were everywhere gears beyond repair its a horrible issue Toyota needs to fix
This is exactly how to NOT use ATRAC! Hold a steady throttle around 1500-2200 RPMS, don’t modulate throttle and don’t use brakes.

Would rocking in fwd and rev have helped in this scenario? Or decreasing tire pressure?

You need to apply steady throttle for the system to work properly not mash the accelerator.
slow steady *long lasting* throttle.. to simulate crawl control.. holding it for 5-7 seconds and dropping off wont get you out. Happy turkey day !

Def driver error, in this situation you need to air down, revers and go forward with steady slow throttle whilst steering left to right.
What does air down mean?
@@claudiacanales2662 I assume air down the tires
Question traction control off or on? Or does the truck automatically select correct mode.
I’ve never seen sand like that in Oregon. Where in Oregon did you film this?
this is how NOT to use atrac. also, i dont think lockers would work either.
Or, How to get totally stuck. Thanks for watching.
Of you offroad alot expect to go thru some brake pads for sure in 3 years I've gone thru 3 sets all 4s
Crawl control would have got you out. What was the tire pressure you were running?
No crawl control on the SR5...
So she got stuck and your unable to get unstuck ?
Does atrac only work on the front 2 wheels or on all 4 wheels?
All 4

We weren't trying to get unstuck - we were trying to visually demonstrate how A-Trac will spin all four wheels.
@@DrivenCompanion interesting for a video
@@DrivenCompanion Then perhaps you may want to reload the video, and title it accordingly...

Lauryn!!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Legend has it they are still stuck.
Aren't you supposed to get wheel spin on all 4 wheels when its in 4H or 4L??
You need a TOW TRUCK.
Some say they are still stuck to this day
Happy Thanksgiving, Mike! Keep up the awesome content!
Legend has it they are still stuck out there.
INCORRECT!
Thanks for watching, cut, ok call a tow truck! 😂
Tow truck comes in the linked video. Go check it out :)
@@DrivenCompanion no way really!!!? 😂
Love the channel but that was all kinds of nope. Thanks for posting though, gave me a chuckle over here. 🤣
The rest of this video is coming this afternoon at 3PM PST. Happy Thanksgiving!
Cool.
Where is the rest of the video lol
Where is the video bro lol I want to know how you got unstuck

Mostly was just looking to show how A-trac will spin all four wheels. We would have reversed early on if the goal was not avoid getting stuck :-)
Maybe learn it before you use it?
LOL Still stuck. Not much is going to help when you are high centered
Lead foot got them stuck😂😂😂
“What not to do” should be the title
This was sad, I bet there are drivers, that can make this work.
I know this old video but as soon as you discover wheel spin one should stop rather than bury the vehicle. The a-trac may have worked if used sooner. A common mistake people make. Just saying.
Obviously you two didn't know how to use the A-trac 😅 a good driver was needed there.

Looks like need to airdown
Too much throttle brutha. Supposed to use at around 10 mph

No crawl control on the SR5
😆
Why would you post this video? It’s what NOT to do.
Wtf your girl are doing , that’s absolutely wrong way to use artac like this 🤦♂️
And your still stuck
Lol you have no idea how to use atrac.
She's a gorgeous woman. What's her OF?
Thanks so much I just need the first minute to get all the info I needed and it literally saved me omg I appreciate the vid 🤘
🤫🤣🤣😬😬😬
That guy don't know the vehicle sistem and how they work USELESS
Why the hell do you have to talk so fast??

ATRAC = poor man's rear locker.
Atrac is for the front... 😒
Works on front and back which is nice.
lol, such a waste of time
Useless
