my question is why risk a boatload to cross over to the uk 🇬🇧 when they've already reached safe france 🇫🇷??
That I don't understand as well. Maybe UK offers more welfare? Or they prefer English? Idk u tell me
There are 2 reasons:
1) It is easier to learn English than french or any other europian language for people from Middle East. I am not sure about African people.
2) The process of getting refugee statuse is much longer in France.

People coming from France are already in a place of safety its the French government's responsibility to process them that have at least 10 times the availability of land
