I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.
Just bought a z422 /54” last week for $6,700, 4 year unlimited hours warranty, love it so far, it’s hard to get use to from a cub cadet lawn tractor to a Cadillac zero turn
I test drove one of these at a kubota event in chillicothe Missouri I'll be getting one of these next season!! Not to mention very 1st zero turn I ever drove!!
Great video thanks for posting!! I just went and test drove and I loved it so ill be picking one up real soon. Almost bought a zero turn from Home Depot or lowes but when I saw the Kubota Z421 it was over for those guys... it was night and day much better machine and your right you get what you pay for... thanks again
That mower sounds like my John Deere and I love the 24 hp engine which is a Kawasaki brand. I have both a John Deere and Kubota mower with the Kawasaki engine on them, and I love the attachment put on the rear of your mower to be able to hook up a lawn sweeper, which I have.
Thanks for the reply. I went out to Bergs Farm equipement in Ontario Canada. I tried it and loved it. Added the suspension seat and bought the thing. They are delivering tomorrow! Thanks you for the video !!!
@@ericherzog6735 That stinks, I hope you get your mower soon..Yes I was blessed that they had the mowers in stock and it fit my needs perfect. They actually had a big selection of zero turns. I was looking at a Big Dog Stout MP 48 , but there were quiet a bit more money , so was the Exmark Radius X 48. The Kubotas seem more heavy duty , nothing about them looks or feels cheap imo.
I was going to purchase the Z242 KW 48, The sales rep talked me into the 412 KW 48. Said it's the 242 on steroids, i guess you wont be on a bigger mower wishing for a smaller one...
I have a z725. I took the black plastic covers for the pullys and cut a big opening at the end so grass and small sticks have a place to get out. Ever since i did that it doesnt clog anymore.
You will love it . I was going to buy the same machine but I ended up buying the Z726X Kubota 60 it's got the kaw fx801v. They can cut sum grass that's for sure..
Just bought the kommander 122r. I only need a 42, or widen gate lol. I am very happy. I had them put some run flat stuff in the tires, we'll see. Kawasaki as well, but entry. Gravely was my next choice. Cadet and Toro didn't have fabricated deck. Love the deck adjustment. I have 4 bolts to get to my belts, no biggy. Love the mower!!
I immediately removed the shute spring and attached a cord to lift it up. Also had to shave down the tensioner pivot bush to take out the play. It was too loose and had a harmonic rattle which vibrated the deck. Also deflated the tyres to give a softer ride.
I have run a zd21 for 11 years . Fuel gauge has only worked for the first year . I have had other issues however for what I mow diesel motor is very good on fuel . I would recommend any Kubota product . Service / parts are very good . Gasoline engines for the long haul is just not their
front suspension. there is a JD dealer in Indiana (Reynolds equip) that makes front torsion forks for that brand and several others. haven't seen tests but they are suppose to smooth out the ride quite a bit. Z glide or some such name. check it out.
I love this machine and have had it about 2 years. However I’m not a huge fan of the 14 inch wheels due to lack of variety in tires and the price of them. The only brands I could find were Grassmaster and Lawnmaster. I went through three tires cause there was a split in the tread. Not sure if it’s a quality control issue or what. If you buy this machine keep in mind that these are gonna run you 125-178$ s piece and they don’t last that long. The mower itself is great though!
I'm going to buy a z421 this week, but cant make up my mind between 54 or 60 inch. Does the 60 inch have enough power to handle thick grass? Would appreciate your opinion. Thanks
Just bought one yesterday the differance is the seat and the deck pedal is really hard to push. My seat is the air ride. $500 more fore the seat. My front tires are bigger than yours. Im fixing to go out and play with mine. I gave $8000 total 0 intrest on 48 months and the insurance. I'll let you know after a couple of years on 4 acres of country yard that no other lawn mower has survived with the decks after 4 years. Been working on this yard for 30 years and its still rough.
So I just purchased my 400 series today 52” cut. Took my old mower for service and came out with a new one. Well, the new one is on order. As of today, are you still happy with your purchase, and what are some pros and cons with the mower. Thanks and great initial review
I will be buying the Z421 60” in the next couple of days. I was told this would be fine for my 4 to 5 acres. The 700 series is a commercial mower so if you have the money do it but you don’t need too. Also the 421 has parts like hydraulic z3400 which are a commercial grade. Just trying to help you out and say this mower would be fine for your 2/3 acres.
Great review - I am in your same situation trying to decide between an ExMark Radius X Series ($8K) and the Z421 ($7K). I see the same advantages with the Kubota and the only concern was the better suspension seat on the ExMark. Are you still happy with it - any additional thoughts? Thanks Jim
Hey thanks Jim. I have cut my grass 3 times with it now. I cut in one hour last night what did take me over two hours. I'm still very impressed with it and do not want for anything more. The seat is very comfortable and smooths out the ride fairly well. Suspension seat would still be nice but I'm not planning on putting one on mine at this time as I feel that it's fine the way it is. One thing I didn't care for is the spring loaded grass chute so I removed it. I didn't want to drill the plastic and put a bungee cord so i took it off and it's much better now, that thing gets in the way.
gsxrboy2000 I picked up the z421 60in yesterday, takes a little more getting used to than I anticipated, but it cuts great and I love it! After I got the hang of it (not a pro yet at all) I couldn't believe how fast I could cut my yard! Thanks again for the info!
gsxrboy2000 my yard is pretty bumpy so I did add the suspension seat. I found the exact model that Kubota sells on Amazon (Maxpower 12530 - $152), it bolts on with no problem and took about an hour to install. The difference in the ride is amazing - made an awesome more even better!
Just purchased this unit , it has not been delivered yet ... I know its a matter of preference but has anyone found a certain cut height that seem to suit this unit best
Good video. I heard the z400 series blows grass out the front of the deck when mowing. Any issues with your mower? I have a 100 series 48 inch deck and need to upgrade to a 60 inch deck and seriously considering the z400 series.
BotaArt thanks. If it does blow grass out the front I have not noticed it. I didn’t care for the grass chute so I removed that. Also, the plastic covers on top of the deck collect grass/ leaves/ twigs...I’ve read where some people cut the ends on them to open them up. I may actually do that but hate the thought of it. I still love this mower and have no regrets or buyers remorse!
your welcome david and yeah other brands you have to fix spindals wich is more money but kubotas there made it less maintance wich is nice and more money saving wich why kubota is the beast thats why i 100% with kubota
BotaArt it did great. I took the chute off didn’t like that. Put suspension seat adapter on and raised the lap bars which made the ride much better. The deck height adjustment seems to have gotten a little off haven’t addressed that yet but definitely no concerning issues. Very happy with the machine so far. Thanks
$375.00 pretty cheap price for suspention seat same here in pei at my dealer for every seat from zeroturns to big tractors wich deeres here are around $1,500 to $2,500 wich rediculas for seats
Kubota have shot themselves in the foot with those rims. You can’t get a lug tyre to fit which is essential for rough terrain. Went back to a hustler fastrak.
did your Kubota dealer tell you that if yours breaks down that they do not give you a loaner more my Kubota dealer didn't tell me that once your mower is not running you are just s*** out of luck.

I love mine, just taught my 14yr old, and he loves it now.
I got a new z412 (48") today , love it , they come with suspension seats now.
How long was your wait? I’m on a waiting list at the moment.

Thanks for the video. I just purchased the z421 60" mower and your walk around video really helped me.
Great video! Thanks for posting! Currently looking at the Z411 (48")
kingofwake happy to help! Good luck with whatever you decide.
Thanks for the video I will be getting the Z421 here pretty quick. I will be cutting close to 4 1/2 acres.
I am looking at a 421 to cut about the same acreage. How do you like it?
Kubota are made well. They last forever. We have a fleet of the ZD 326, ZD 331.
I am looking at the Gravely ZT HD but Your video is a big help!
Gravely/badboy are crap . Im getting rid of mine to get a kubota .

Great machine.! I'll never ever seen so many warning sticker and sticker at all on an item. Less paint to use i guess ;)
High quality mower a t a HIGH price....Ariens makes some good mowers for a lot le$$
How would you compare this to the Scag Patriot?
I think the cylinder is a deck lift assist
How is the cut? I have an exmark that has a great cut but planning on adding one of these soon.
Andrus Lawn service I’m very happy with the cut. The deck design works well.
Is there any reason for buying the 700 series 60” over this one for 2-3 acres?

Have you noticed any grass blowing out the front yet? Mine is terrible about blowing grass out of the front on a hill or when mowing a ditch.
Mine sometimes blows grass out the front of the deck when mowing. Is there any fix to stop the ZTR from blowing grass out of the front?
Is there any grease fittings on the deck spindles? I didn't see any, of course maybe I'm blind.
David Mount nope
the spindels are maintance free like the wg14-36 and wh15-48 and whf19-52 walk behinds
Michael Mac Tavish ok thanks

Mike Kur there is no suspension on this mower. We have found that adding the suspension seat adapter really helps.
Are you sure those front tires are pneumatic? They look lot like the flat free ones on my Toro.
How fast does it go
Sebastian Boyd it will cut around 10 mph if I remember right.
Yep 10 mph
5 in reverse
That's fast for mowing !
10 mph
Blows grass out of from under front of deck covers you up . Deck lift broke at 25 hrs . Take covers off deck pulleys !
can you reverse mow?
General R. E. Lee yes you can mow in reverse and you don’t have to do anything special to make it happen.
Kubota have shot themselves in the foot with those rims. You can’t get a lug tyre to fit which is essential for rough terrain. Went back to a hustler fastrak.
I have an alarm going off
