This clip just has absolutely everything: Siobhan making England sound increasingly imaginary by insisting a totally real thing does exist, Lou taking offense as dramatically as possible, Murph suddenly becoming a raspberry mustard cop, Ally and Emily (I think) bringing a jingle with really wild energy into an already chaotic space… immaculate. Strong zoom energy.
re:jingle, i think they were singing it to the tune of Raspberry Beret by Prince (i might be wrong its been a long time since i listened to that song but thats how it hit me)
Legit question, how do you guys say it? I'm from New England but now living in Oregon and I'm suddenly sure my West Coast neighbors have been side-eyeing me for the past five years.
Kudos on Siobhan for pulling a Milady deWinter. Started surrounded by hostiles, on the backfoot, in the lair of her enemies. Converted all of them (or close enough) to her side.
When I worked at McDonalds, it was very common for boomers and older to put grape jelly on sausage biscuits. Honestly, it slaps! Lou didn't deserve those wrists. This Adventuring Party made me go out and get biscuits, sausage, and grape jelly to make this at home, just as good as I remembered!
I used to make toast with butter and grape jelly on top. Sometimes I make breakfast sandwiches at home. And the toast I make it with can have butter or both grape jelly and butter. It's not mind-blowing or anything, but it's good. Raspberry works too, but the flavor's usually milder and harder to pick up on.
@@queenblacc4579 Definitely! I just had never heard of it until I crossed paths with more people from that generation, and it seemed extremely common for that age group (like over 50% of the orders for the item came with a request for grape jelly). On my...honestly 4th or 5th watch of this bit, I'm appreciating the specificity of Brennan saying "culinary stress dream" where others probably would have said "culinary nightmare"
It's wild to me to see them reacting to grape jelly on a breakfast sandwich as this radical condiment, when its the most common condiment for one where I live.

i don’t think raspberry mustard is particularly british, although i think mustard is a more prominent condiment on your side of the pond. but there’s been raspberry mustard in the regular grocery store (although from slightly boujie brands) since at least the early 2000s.
In Lou Wilson's honor, I put strawberry jelly on my bacon & egg breakfast sandwich this evening (because I didn't have grape jelly available and frankly I like strawberry better anyway) And let me tell you, my life is different now. Holy shit.

Grape jelly on breakfast sandwiches is extremely common where I live. Detroit girl. Poor Lou fighting for his life for something completely normal. Is it a cultural thing? Now I’ve never eaten ketchup on a breakfast sandwich and would probably windmill somebody who tried to put it on there lol.
Grape jelly on a breakfast sandwich has to be 100% acceptable. The sweet and savory combo is too known for that. Any haters need to try an egg and bacon sandwich on a cinnamon raisin bagel for the "sweet and savory" gateway breakfast sandwich. I promise you it's so much better than you're thinking. Get at me in the comments
Lou is so right though, jelly on breakfast sandwiches rules! Personally I prefer strawberry bc I don’t like grape jelly but on like an English muffin with a fried egg? Perfect
Grape jelly works for breakfast sandwiches. Usually it's on a good fluffy biscuit, but I've had it on toasted bread, both dry and buttery. Great with sausage. I'm sure raspberry mustard would be good though.
I was introduced to grape jelly on a breakfast sandwich by a older African American gentleman at a Waffle House at 3am, and I will tell you, my life has never been the same since. It’s actually magical and doesn’t clash with any of the flavors of the breakfast foods edit: yes, you can even add cheese and hash browns and it slaps harder than a cop when resisting arrest. ❤
Nah that smuckers hit harder than a cop committing domestic violence when you’re 3 sheets to the wind 😂 (edit: apologies for any triggers the cop joke may have brought up)
Okay I absolutely think Lou is onto something and I definitely wanna try basting bacon in grape jelly while it bakes in the oven as opposed to maple syrup. That with eggs sounds amazing, especially on a croissant 🫠
Because of this episode (and wendys sometimes giving a packet of jelly with their bfast sandwiches), i've actually tried grape jelly on a sausage egg and cheese and i actually enjoyed it! I don't even like grape jelly, but it just added a layer of complexity to the sandwich!
Jam cheese and pickles on fresh quality bread or buns is a FANTASTIC. And GRAPE JELLY on a Bacon egg and cheese is ABSOLUTELY something I’d be down for.
My favorite topping ive discovered for a breakfast sandwich is hot chili! Ive got a local spot that makes amazing chili dogs and I asked them to put it on my sausage egg and cheese biscuit one day. Changed my life

Usually no additions, just however the restaurant serves it. OH, KY, VA (so Mid-Atlantic eastern states) in the USA. I have seen plenty of jelly used but usually don't put it on anything with eggs. Ketchup on hash browns, salsa on eggs, but haven't needed either on a sandwich.
Grape jelly is perhaps the most common fruit spread in the USA. It is one half of the ubiquitous PB&J or peanut butter and jelly sandwich that is a fixture of American childhoods. Even kids with peanut allergies KNOW about PB&J bc their whole life is spent dodging it. I know peanut butter is scarce in Europe. The grapes in grape jelly are purple 🍇, typically Concorde grapes, not the green "white grapes" or "seedless grapes" sold in groceries. If you're European, just know that most of America has no blackcurrant, all our purple candies, sodas, etc. are artificial grape flavor. I only ever had blackcurrant gummies when I found them at Lidl, a German chain of groceries spreading here in the US. Grape jelly or jam is like a smooth, sweeter version of blackberry or blackcurrant jam. Jelly is made with fruit juice, jam is made with the fruit itself and is thicker. Preserves are chunkiest and thickest.
grape or raspberry jam absolutely works so well with the egg and bacon. it’s sweet and savory! i often have peanubutter or nutella toast with fried egg on it and it’s so good. that might be a bit far for some but i will not take this slander.
i live for the raw 3am discord group chat energy of these adventuring parties
