I really wish that every year the winner can stop getting harassed on social media after their win, I'm still a new fan but I kinda want to leave the fandom because I am disgusted by the transphobia and homophobia being targeted at Nemo, just because they won and Croatia didn't, this happened last year with Loreen and also 2022 with Ukraine. It's so toxic and really upsetting, we should be celebrating Nemo's win, I plan to continue to support and stream all the artists this year because they deserve it so much and it's not fair they had such a messy year. I don't know if I'll watch next year but I will continue to support artists ❤

Totally agree on not harassment the winner. But I wish the EBU was more inclusive and toned down all this gay- trans- queer- gender- pride flag waving BS. I don’t care who people sleep with or what they think they are or are not. But I really dislike having it shoved in my face relentlessly all the time and any time. If the EBU wants to unite us by music it should not divide us based on sexuality, gender, or identity.

One thing is for sure - Martin Österdahl can not and should not continue being the Executive Supervisor of the ESC. The whole mess and the fallout of it falls on his shoulders and I'd suspect that he'd be either be removed from his position or step down on his own volition. But guess the 2025 edition would be more of the same
Thanks for acting up. Many dreams have been destroyed this year. And the most shocking thing to me is that the producers and EBU actually continue to glorify what they have accomplished. That there’s actually no feeling with what the audience and artists experienced, is a big exlamation mark that this process is painfull and that they rather kill the event further than admit that they did terrible stuff this year especially. Cool that you found that the nails from Portugal are not from the final performance. Which shows that the EBU actually lies. And Joost is not in the gallery of the opening. These are signs that we’re dealing with a very toxic organization that rather morphs the reality to something that makes them look better than they are. Bad! Sweden, SVT and EBU need to step away from this behavior, otherwise they endorse it. Unforgettable.

The televote decided. The televote gave Switzerland enough televotes to win. Without the televote Switzerland would not have won.
I preferred Baby Lasagna too but Nemo won fair and square. The jury system needs work though, admittedly. Loreen winning forked me off way more I hated her performance last year. Loved Euphoria but no, Tattoo can go away. Cha Cha all the way.
The televote gave Switzerland enough votes to surpass Croatia. Just because Croatia was first in terms of televotes does not mean they were guaranteed the win
I hope the Netherlands will never participate again in this shitshow.
If the EBU wants NL back, they must give NL permanent "Big" status as it HAS BEEN the 6th largest contributor of funds. And then... Joost Klein AQs 😉
As a fellow Dutchie, I agree. We are/were the 6th highest contributer to the contest. Let us just stop and let the EBU figure out how they're going to finance this thing without the Dutch contribution.

To be honest I didn't think it was the best staging this year, neither the television production. Also Switserland won in 2021 the juries haha.... have you forgot that. He was also very high in 2020 but the Eurovision was cancelled. Jon's Tears was one of my favorites.
You're absolutely right I completely blanked on Gjons Tears when I did the video. He was definitely talked about as a potential winner in 2021. Personally I did prefer his 2020 song, but sadly we will never know how that would have done at the contest

There is nothing fault with ESC - EBU. The world itself has the problem. Just imagine, if there were no war and no crisis... The contest would not face any of those problems and all the participants would be happy to meet each other and would enjoy audience's applause. The world is very angry and one can sense it everywhere, this is not the time to enjoy shows without dealing with all that anger.
No, there IS a problem with the EBU. You can't ban Russia for genocide but then attempt to gaslight the world that what Israel is doing isn't the same. You can't ban dutch guy for a hand wave yet allow constant harrassment of contestants and press by Israel delegation and ignore all complaints and pretend you're upholding rules. No!. Yes there's a problem with the world, but also with the EBU.

@ds5379 they're exactly the same. I really don't get why they're being treated differently. Actually, even the last Israeli representative was actually Russian. Both countries are engaging in warfare and a genocide, both of which are authoritarian dictatorships who are targeting the press and minorities while posing as democracies (look, we've got a parliament and elections), both got a huge propaganda apparatus, etc pp. At Eurovision, both try to artwash and whitewash their nonsense. But maybe it's a little bit worse with Israel and Hurricane, although to be fair, Russia would probably have competed with a hurricane like song, hadn't they been banned. And at least, Russia isn't an Apartheid state, afaik.

Switzerland did ok in 2021. Switzerland placed third in the final, scoring 432 points: 165 points from the televoting and 267 points from the juries. It has been getting better over recent years.
My 2 cents.
I do think the EBU has fault here - but not for the reason many people think. I think the EBU's issue is that it's trying to find a middle ground every time and still bearing the brunt of anger from all sides.
Also, and this is something that has been building up for many years, the fandom has been making Eurovision toxic. We have got to a point where the fandom already picks a pool of winners far in advance, creating a lot of hype around them, after which one of them is anointed. It is not as unpredictable as it used to be.
I used to love Eurovision, it was my appointment every year. This year was the first time I gave it a miss in many many years. The toxicity, and the feeling that it is not a fair competition that gives a fair playing field to all participants, has skyrocketed.
This year it was further exacerbated by ugly antisemitism. Being a Jew-hater has become cool, the Nazis would be very proud.
The mob's behavior towards the girl was disgusting, but some other contestants were also disgusting towards her, interestingly those who fight so much for freedom of expression.

Agree. We should not forget situations like the harassment that Windows95man experienced after winning UMK because he wasn't the fan favorite. Sadly those situations seem to happpen more and more now within the fandom. Heck, one of the reasons I rarely talk about my opinions on the songs on this channel is because I tend to have different favorites compared to the big fan favorites, and I don't want to deal with the harassment that comes when you don't like a certain song
Ok once more for those in the back - anti Zionism isn't antisemitism, criticism of Israel isn't antisemitism. 'Poor' Eden wasn't bullied as much as all so called antisemites who your delegation really did bully.
@NeonPavilion yeah, sometimes, I don't get some parts of the fandom, especially on RUclips or RUclips comment sections, they're stanning for the most boring, most beige entries in a national final (some of which then go on to be performed very badly, not the case with UMK's fan favorite this year, but this is quite common, and then, they're wondering why it didn't win and they're still rooting for it), and if their favorite doesn't win, they're going ballistic and are harassing the eventual representative in RUclips comment sections (or on IG), as well as anyone defending these artists. Why? But those all might just be online trolls, not actual fans, but they're pretty toxic. And another example this year was that they didn't want Isaak to win for Germany and instead, they shilled for Oh Boy by Ryk, a song that wasn't memorable at all, nor was his voice as powerful as Isaak's. It definitely wouldn't have gotten 18 points from the public, nor would this have done as great with the juries. Definitely another bottom 3 result for Germany. Most of these fan favorites wouldn't have gotten as far as these eventual winners anyway. Plus: I would also refer to the comment made by emo bear rights regarding some other nonsense written by the op.
We went from the absolute highs and one of the best years ever in liverpool to the worst Eurovision of all time. Well done EBU
