  • It started with a pile of rocks and turned into a DIY pond build with a bog filter. First step...dig a deep hole. It's a requirement for any serious pond build. Next step will of course be to line and design your new pond. This is where it get's fun. It's organic, its sweaty, and it's an absolutely rewarding DIY project. If you'd like to build your own pond, I've compiled a list of the parts I used below:
    📝 MATERIALS LIST
    ► 10X13 LDPE Pond Liner amzn.to/3xFHSm9
    ► 550 GPH Submersible Pump amzn.to/3mydns5
    ► 1/2" Flexible Tubing amzn.to/39aMlDQ
    ► Pump Filter Box amzn.to/3NJ67Ft
    ► 10 Bags Pond Pebbles tinyurl.com/23...
    ► 10 Bags Pea Gravel tinyurl.com/3u...
    ► 4 Bags Pavers Sand tinyurl.com/me...
► 1" PVC tubing and PVC fittings to build your bog filter (no link because this will be custom)
► 1 pallet of pond stone or boulders (no link because this will be custom)
You'll also need approximately 1 pallet of pond stones to go in and around your pond. These can be whatever you like. I found mine locally on Marketplace and picked it up from somewhere who had replaced it in their yard. You can find stone for your pond at any local landscape supply store and most of them deliver if you can't haul the stone yourself.
For the bog filter you'll want to customize based on the shape of your pond. The general rule is every 3 feet of width needs a fork off your manifold. All you're building is a tube that disperses the water out evenly along the bottom of your bog filter.

Thanks Kathy. The water is a bit cloudy from all the storms but otherwise it's starting to look full of life.

Yay. I’m so happy for you. And. I love turtles.

So far no turtles have moved in that i'm aware of and I'll admit I need to get out and clean both the pond and cabin up. Hopefully one of these days I find the motivation to refresh!

Great job! 🤗 Thanks for sharing. Very informative, inspiring and entertaining.
You had so much clay, it could have been tampered down and may have naturally sealed. 🤷‍♀️ Marty Rainey constructed one on Homestead Rescue.

It seems so easy in your mind...and then you realize you actually shovel a whole lot less per shovel than you imagined. But at the end you get to feel like a beast and you have a beautiful pond.
