We Take The Sherp To The Mountains!

- When we headed West we thought we had better bring the Sherp along even though I knew it wasn't built for deep snow. I just can't help putting the Sherp in terrain that it wasn't designed for and testing it's performance. Deep snow is definitely not it's forte lol But it did manage to make it everywhere we wanted to go. Mrs. Osta enjoyed the heat and the stereo while cruising the logging roads. Hope you guys enjoyed the video. As always thank you for watching
sorry to contradict you but the sherp does very well in deep snow, you still have to know how to use it by deflating the tires as indicated on the table inside indicating the pressure to use according to the type of terrain.
try again and you will see the difference
The Sherp is great. As a Canadian I can confirm that deep light snow is a real challenge even for unfit type of snowmobiles or track vehicules. Great video showing both the Sherp and how snow can even be more mean than mud.
Never realised I had anxiety issues until I watched the sherp try to turn in the snow lol
lol
I still love my Terra jet
@@raymondrouthier3920 That's because terra jets don't skid steer lol
That skid steer really slows things down when turning. Too bad cause it's a beast otherwise.
I would suggest to drop down a bit pressure in the tiers in such snowy conditions.....it should help dramatically.
How would it help? Im not trying to be rude I just genuinely dont know
@@Benji10109 More surface area to grip the snow turning them more into tracks and less tires
in this video you will be able to see what you are looking for
"Sherp in deep snow. Winter test !!!"
The load-bearing force of snow is approximately 70 g per cm2
Multiply by the width of the 4 wheels evening 240 cm and the tire bearing length (at the correct pressure) approximately
105 minimum =1764 KG. It therefore does not sink to the ground!
The Sherp is very great. It can also swim and one of the best car for offroad. Thank you so much for this Video.
Those typical Balkan Mountain winters would dictate one of these. Why my grandfather always drove a tractor. Maybe this one can pull some hay as well. My grandfather actually fell into a frozen river during winter and it almost killed him, that day, anyways.
Finally a terrain weakness for the Sherp! Snowy hills!
Not really their attempting it with full tyre pressure, that's a nono in soft going!
@@reefer2917 Surly he knows this. I wondered the same. What is the point then of running the tires full?
They had around 1 or 2 psi in the tires lol
they cant do muskeg either, they tried in fort mcmurry alberta, didnt get 20 feet
lower the tire pressure and everything will be OK as you have there in America say
That is absolutly living rite there!! We used to go with a 10 or 12 quad group to camp in winter and ride all the snowy trails. So much fun! One has not truely lived till they go on an adventure like this rite here in the snow!
Always such a blast. Thanks for watching and commenting brother
you should put a v-plowblade on the front to direct the center snow to the tires. once the snow is packed under it, it won't let the tires dig in.
put it on a pair of bars that are attached all the way in the back so it can be raised up out of the way when not in use. (think of the visor on a suit of armor)
The sherp's kryptonite.........is snow? Who knew! lol
Great video.....thanks
It does float and crossing frozen lakes etc going in and out of the broken ice.perhaps it's partly tire pressure as others have said.
no just someone so stupid that do not know why you need a low pressure tire, and it all depends on the gasket between wheel and seat
Техника в неумелых руках. Легче сломать мильон и обозвать фигнёй, чем научиться обращаться! Приспусти колёса, товарищ! ))))
The only one weakness here is in driving skills... ;)
lmao
@@ostacruiser go to Great Russia to learn how to use and drive this incredible and awesome machine! Then leave a comments.... ;)
@@alexandergeorgiev7211 fckoff noob, this bobcat not for snow. I can't find any wideo from Russia with light snow
Defines a unit of measurement as a "sherp"
Thing with this beast is it’s over a 100k but you get a sick utility vehicle and a boat in 1 it’s a win win 😂
Sherpa has only one human counterpart...the Tibbetian SHERPA!🤣
I’d buy a sherp just to go food shopping, even if I lived in the middle of a city 🤣🤦🏻♂️
Who says money cant buy happiness, really? Shit, YOUR money bought me happiness.
haha thanks dude
I understand the newest SHERP (The really large one) is much better with hills and inclines. It has larger tires which are set further apart from the front and rear sets, thus increasing the wheel base slightly and increasing the overall torque and traction. The Russians seem to have the best engineering in all terrain vehicle technology.
Video flattens everything
I agree
80% driver 20% machine
The animal who see the track in the snow Will think what beast create these trail😮
These things always remined me of the British Rhino 6x6.
Very similar design, but with the rear axle lopped off.
Steers the same too.
Pretty awsome snow machine, I bet that trax would be a big help in deep snow.
Mainly a swamp rig.
I saw it in Russia and, on the snow there, mainly sucks.
Russians drive other stuff (i.e. The Shaman) for snow coping missions.
The help of the good Can-Am came to the ressue!!! 🍻
We'll fab up a set of tracks for it and it'll be unstoppable
Id pay money to see a set of tracks on that thing its not possible !
An articulated Sherp would be the ticket.Skid steer in deep snow.....nope.
I bet if you had some super narrow tires on it, just for snow, you may hook some traction.
Looks like the sherp needs to steer like a skid steer.
When I saw the video of you buying the sherp this was the first thing that came to my mind. Great video!!
haha thanks :)
That thing is a beast. A true all terrain vehicle.
I agree. I was watching it in deep snow and thought that if it had tracks it would be unstoppable.
You could climb that hill easily
1) lower tire pressure
2) climb slowly with lower gear (no speeding)
Drop the tire pressure and you are good to go
Also, if you are climbing- put on lower gear , don’t speed
Well, good to know the Sherp's limitations for when I have a fleet of them myself... LOL Still one of the coolest machines on thr trails today, buddy! Awesome video! Cheers from Alaska!
Broknex
It wasn’t sherp limitation but driver
Not enough to drive sherp also you need to know how
1) He didn’t drop tire pressure
2) he was spending instead of putting on lowest gear and crawl up, it won’t have problem
This machine built for snowy hills - you drive it in different modes based on the terrain
Snow is basically kryptonite for this 125k all terrain beast
I’d like to see a track kit
Lol
Better then any other wheeled vehicle I have seen
Thought I seen your truck sitting in Golden the last week. This explains things!
Ya, figured this was BC.
Nice fluffy snow, just bitter cold in NC. Looks like ya having fun once again, I wanna go play in the snow Dad, OK son, take the Sherp
Thomas Felts fuck nc if you see kari tell that skank I said fuck you.
Can't wait until I get mine delivered!!
Love to see it with a engine upgrade with some more power. Say another 100hp. And more wheel speed when needed.
What was the tire pressures? It looks like you had them filled all the way up for the road but didn't deflate for the trail
That is the trouble with any skid-steer machine. When you lock one side, it will screw its self into the snow. Even a tracked dozer will do the same thing. When making slight course corrections with a dozer, just pulling the friction and not applying the brake sometimes will work better. That is why a differential steer dozer will work better in these conditions. Power is applied to both tracks.
Yup true fact
We need to engineer two long CRAB CLAWS in front of this ATV, just the claws getting pegged deep through the snow into the mud pushing the whole vehicle body forward, providing traction to the wheels in this deep soft snow!....the CRAB CLAWS will be hydraulic motorized thing...
Lower the tire pressure!
Yup more traction gravity flooring it
That sherp is a deadly ice fishing rig.
IT seams to me that if the Sherp could run one side forward while being able to run the other in reverse like a skid steer it might work better for turning... because when its only locking one side for the turn its causing so much drag...
fully hydraulic machines can do this, but adding hydraulics to the sherp would increase the weight to the point its performance would suffer elsewhere.
You've got too much pressure in the tyres, you need to drop the pressure!!!! the Russians have no problems in the snow, they drove these to the north pole!!
lol
Another alien misguiding people.
If my experience with a fat bike is at all relevant, I agree. Run 'er at 1 psi
Hehe nice try on my challenge! Great video keep er coming my friend
Skid steer's weekness
SNOW Same thing I found driving a 6x6 Amphibious ATV. 4wheel steering and locked diffs much better!
I get a kick out of everyone saying lower the tire pressure. Suppose most haven't driven balloon tired machines in powder. 1 PSI looks hard like a basketball when the powder snow is this soft. What is the tire going to flatten into when nothing is hard underneath. :-p
Thank you! lol. Everyone's an expert lol
lol no problem, clearly only I am jk ;-p
Thanks for all the awesome videos. The Sherp continues to impress. Wouldn't mind having one in my neck of the woods.
to lower the tire pressure
Great video that thing loves it all
Thanks dude!!
sherp! My dream
For snow just decrease the pressure in tyres and go.that will do the gob
Hey! I see you from MEXICO🇲🇽 saludos amigo!!👍🏻
Very nice
Nice!!!
Those things are bad ass in the mud but I guess the snow is its cryptonite
Not really, other then Mrs Osta puttng in the ditch we drove it around for 2 days with no assistance needed. Not its forte for sure but still did great imo
Looks like they need to throw in a better trans similar to the Admiral trans in the newer Argo's that don't fully skid steer. You do fine until you have to skid steer and it just kills all your momentum. The Admiral trans works on a 1/3 - 2/3 skid steer concept in High range so you always have all your wheels still turning just one side cuts to 1/3 the power.
Have you tried airing down the tires?
We were running around 1 psi
Ok,.. it does not look very flat on the video. Keep up the great videos!@@ostacruiser
it's a huge pressure for that snow, i should use like in swamp.
- 1 psi for solid road. That's why sherp is stuck
What is the lowest setting?
@@ostacruiser
I admit I was a little surprised and disappointed as sherp is boasted for being able to go literally anywhere. Tire pressure seems to be the issue with over steer possibly. I love these Russian gems 💎 still and need one to add to my toy collection. What do these run for in Canada? If anyone knows and happy new year 🥳 and be safe tonight 💪👍😎
Could be worse, imagine deep soggy spring snow and it beaching on compacted snow beneath, that's the bane of vehicles in the snow!
That thing is most impressive thank you for making that video!!
Looks peaceful and quiet there except that machine destroys that
Thank you for watching
You need to lower the tire pressure. Lower pressure= bigger surface area, you’ll float right over the snow.
Lol that is the first thing we tried. We had no problems going over the snow until we had to turn ;)
Imagine if the sherp had tracks
It would be maybe the same
When you deflate the tires, the bottom flattens out and basically turns them into tracks.
It would be a snow cat
Look up M29c Weasel. American made little tracked monster
Than it just be an argo lol
I see huge drifting potential right here.
Where it’s getting stuck you should put the tires on there.
Nice that you keep the music to a minimum!
It seems to be a very capable vehicle in the snow as it is already but for maximum capability like it has in swamps, a set of legit snow tires maybe? Snow tires sure do make a huge difference on every passenger car and truck on the road in winter maybe they`d help out the Sherp in some of them deeper and hilly snow areas.
Obviously theres very likely no snow tires available currently (?) so a Sherp owner would need to seek out a custom build for them but I`ll give it a shot when I get me one :)
Needs a mod to fit snowcat tracks on the sherp!
It looks like your tire pressure is way higher than what's recommended for snow, in stuff that deep with an incline like that it should be down to around 50-60(.5-.7psi). It looks like your tires are inflated well over 100, with it down to .5psi the tires cover much more surface area and get through snow much easier. Would want to run it low in thick mud as well.
We tried down to 0 psi without much change
Good job! When you don't steer lol
That thing needs a hydraulic drive system epic.
Can you Imagine a 4 wheel steer sherp? That would be insane!
design a track kit for over those wheeles like an argo
It gets there, but man you had to work for it. Floats to much on the snow and tracks it to much. Works fine once a trail was established, but braking the trail must be tiring real fast
Yes exactly. Wasn't too bad but breaking trail was a bit slow for sure
evilreddog
With lower tire pressure he wouldn’t have problem
I bet, even ford f -150 can't over this snowy road.
That would be a dream place for Bandvagn.
Everytime Mrs Osta drives she gets the sherp stuck.
haha not a great track record
YOU NEED TO REDESIGN IT FOR REMOVABLE TRACKS
If they made chains for the Sherpa it would probably do well
I'll bet if you put on a pair of custom snow tracks it would be unstoppable eh?🤔😎
so what you are saying is destroy the snow that is lifting your wheels by spinning and reversing so the chassis snow isent lifting your wheels and you can go where you want to, got it.
O.K. I hope everyone was wearing seat belts!!! I could see that thing tip over and ROLL down the hill !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazingly awesome video guys
Getting stuck with the tracks seams like a little more of an undertaking than your buddy just pulling on your ski to get you moving.
Yup lol
Exactly, it’s fucking exactly
Ok cause I plan to be there with my Dodge Dakota 2nd gen my friend David with his Chevy blazer wich I bet I'll be towing him out all day lol
I`ve owned 3 Dakota`s a `95, an `03 and an `05 all three were great off road but that `05 was the best best small truck for off roading I ever had.
It had AWD, 4x4 high, 4x4 low and you could also run it in 2WD. I kept it in AWD while off road and it was able to do things I wished I made video of.
If they could do alittle redesign to get some tracks wrapped around those wheels it would truly be unstoppable
that sherp is so cool i want one lol
Вы давление понизте в калесах , ну вы блин даёт
That thing sounds sick! It’s loud as helk
I was sitting here watching wondering if/when it sinks... if one ATV could get it out or if it was gonna take the sbs too... question answered! Lol
The sheep needs to be faster and it will be a beast like the x3
Sherp
Great video
Really liked the sheep.. But realized now it would be pretty useless in new Brunswick in the winter.. Loves the videos keep it up
Definitely one of the most capable wheeled machines in snow but definitely not as good as a tracked machine in really deep stuff
**AMAZING VEHICLES**
Всё таки много значит, когда мужик за штурвал сел.
More money then brains that’s for sure!
So you’ve answered more of my Sherp questions, just as you did in Moab. Not as good in the snow like we have around here as I’d hoped. Still fun though!
Sherp gets a belly rub......
