- I set an assortment of seeds to attract the cardinal inside, once inside I pulled the string that was attached to a stick to close the trap door which trapped the bird.

... why tho? Imagine some giant trapped you like this, can you imagine how much stress this puts the bird under? I love watching animal videos but trapping it for no reason is just cruel, borderline animal abuse. Some animals can even die just from stress when captured. Could've just put the seeds there with the camera without the whole cage part...
I once caught a female cardinal and she was MAD! She bit a few times but it didn’t hurt. After holding her, I put the bird back outside. Cute little things!

^^^^ TRUE THAT! Trapping a cardinal is illegal. They're native and a protected species. Poor thing could have gotten hurt in that cage, and baby cardinals need constant feeding, care, warmth, and protection from BOTH parents at all times. One bird guards the nest while the other finds food and delivers it to the babies. This not only could have injured the trapped cardinal; it also may have put his mate and babies in danger. I wish people would use their brain and (very minimal in the case) critical thinking skills before doing stupid stunts just to make a damn yt video. Hopefully the cardinal family was OK, and the trauma from being trapped did not scare the male away from his territory. Songbirds are prey animals, and are thus very sensitive to perceived threats. It is not uncommon for them to abandon a nest site if they feel threatened in their respective territory. In this particular case, the absence of the male cardinal would spell doom for his mate and his little babies in the nest. SMH... 😞

I live in Colorado and I want to trap a couple of hundred of them from Kansas and Texas introduce them to the front range: Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Denver.
