What happens when the SD reader on GPSMap 696 won't read the SD Card? I paid good money, which apparently is not refundable, for a database update that won't load. What happened to the USB load option? I just updated the system software to 7.80 using USB. It worked fine connected to my Windows PC via a USB cable. The fly.garmin web site still shows the legacy method for Database updates too. But the self extracting exe file it sends down for the Database update only looks for the SD Card on the windows PC, it no longer looks for the GPS on the USB port. My expensive to purchase GPS is now out of date and I'm out the money I used to buy the database. Good for Garmin, bad for me.
That was disappointing. There are a lot of ways to update databases. He picked one but based on the title I thought theyd' go over 3 or 4 of them. You can update them from an iPad, you can use FlightStream, you can load them into another Garmin panel device and they can xfer, etc.
