After 3 years of record US government money printing, the buying power of a US dollar has dropped considerably. Gold has not gone up, the dollar has gone down.

Buying gold etf's is like playing a game of musical chairs, you hope you can actually get your physical gold from the etf when the music stops.
If you don't hold it, you don't own it.
Most gold ETFs are not in the business of selling physical gold to their clients, so are only a paper bet on the price of gold. Most gold ETFs only offer
physical gold to specially registered clients, like BIG hedge funds, billionaires, big banks, etc. None that I know of will swap gold for their shares.
Fed reserve interst rate are at all timr high of 5.5%..which has been consolidated for more than 9 months now. Due to this US central banks are holding their losses for 3trillion.. so its not possible for them to rise interst rates...and they cut interst rates inflation os going to spike... Employment data also at a verge to. Breakout... So this is a silent zone where history will repeat itself... Hike in gold prices are rhe prior indication of fall of economy.. which will make gold more costly ....u will see a big correcton in economy like covid .. so buying gold at every dip is smart advice for now .gold has been consolidated for 3 .5 yrs now and it has given a breakout .... Gold backed dollar, dollar backed gold,currency in inter bank lending and borrowing esp libor interest rates backed by real estate as collaterals are on the verge of collapse ..because we are moving to utility based land valuation from colonial valuation of land ,which is revenue model,asset valuations from apprectiion... So prof Brahmananda semibombla and Tobin q ratio have started working . Difference in difference regression in every asset class is asking investors to reassess portfolios. It is not great depression of 1930,but great asset bubble from REITs,translated to equity,switched to home currency and metal,commodity,and oil market. Worst we will see in crpto which is a combination of carona,tsunami ,great depression and greatest asset bubble in the economic history of the world...kite flying has a limit.

Hold. Definitely. In the short run, fluctuations happen, but in the long run the US dollar value is going down and it's going to be hard to bring that up. Also, gold is never going to lose value to humanity. It's beautiful, a good currency, and an ever present symbol of wealth. And it will probably remain that ways.
