The best part about portals is it maintains the stock suspension geometry , which we all know is crucial with IFS with CV joints and keeps them strong and not binding..👍
We did heat tests on they about 2 years ago. We did a 6 hr road trip from San Diego through Arizona in the middle of summer when it was 115 degrees outside. The portals hit a max temp of 176. Heat is not been an issue ever
@Exodus4x4 so you've had long travel and now the portals, both seam to solve different rock crawling issues, what is your preference? My gut tells me clearance because I believe broncos are balanced and almost designed to be ok with tires in the air. that being said, I have done very little rock crawling in my badlands bronco.

It's the same as humvees in the military. Those gears have never failed. They get abused by E-2's and E-3's severely. So, I think portals will last a long time.
@Exodus4x4 well kinda can. Nissans rear axles are the same as the rear jeeps axles. So at this time you can do half haha. Now if they build the front then that would be great.
Mile for mile, the bronco has wheeled more and broke (actually hasn’t broken at all) less than the Jeep. Wheels with heavy built Jeeps too. Guess it’s not about the platform and more about the operator.
If it’s so crippling why is it dominating in racing 🤷♂️. That crippled non long travel 4600 Bronco on our portals has completely dominated its class. It has swept the podium in qualifying and racing for 3 years straight!

Don't call it brand X, we all know that you are talking about the portals from BroncBuster. These are the less expensive option and probably the better option (save for the straight cut gear - especially for a daily driver). 74Weld did a great job with this setup.
BroncBuster doesn’t make a portal, he imports a brand made overseas and sells it. Yes the 74Weld portals are a higher quality and lower priced. Been daily driving the shit out of these portals and haven’t seen a single downside to the stringy cut gear. Zero noise on the highway.

As much as we’re all enthusiasts, we also got bills to pay need to make some money. Not to mention for what they are, you’re actually getting a bargain. Nobody even comes close to this. All that being said, yeah it’s still a lot of money.
Let’s break this comment down real quick. A quality wheel bearing for a Ford F350 is about 300 bucks per corner. If you think we can make a 7075 upright, 7 bearings, a 6061 box, 4340 full float shafts, 4 heat treated and post machined gears for 700 bucks…well I don’t know what to tell you
This seems wildly complex compared to making modifications on a simple solid front axle setup. Put a solid front axle on that Bronco and give up the smooth ride on the road.
You are high! First, portal installs on IFS are significantly easier than a solid axle. Second, I personally own a 392 fully built as well as a bronco. The ride quality out of the bronco is so much better it’s not even a fair comparison. So is your comment based on owning both vehicles in both stock and on large tires…because mine is.
