No bars to break down; just a contemporary jazz vibe that delights guitar lovers and sonic focused people. It totally sucks you into a meditative space. And the drummer is so consistent that I think you could set atomic clocks to his beat. As crazy as life gets at times, I think we need more of this in our lives.
My 34 ytear-old daughter turned me on to this band and I am very grateful for that. A totally different sound.... not even sure what genre to place them in. I have since purchased all of thier music. They are on tour as I type. My daughter, her fiancee and myself drove 180 miles to Raleigh, NC to see them perform at the Red Hat Ampitheater (A 5,000 seat open-air venue that was sold out) a few days ago. I would drive another 180 miles to see them again, a fabulous show! Must listens: Evan Finds The Third Room/ Maria Tambien/ Mary Always/ Hasta El Cielo/ Mr. White/ White Gloves/ People Everywhere/ Dern Kala. Great reaction, TY. BTW, they are from Texas and first knew each other from church.
Pronounced: "KRUNG bin". It's Thai for "airplane". Mark Speer on guitar Laura Lee on bass & vocal DJ Johnson on drums, vocals & occasional keyboard (while drumming) Mark & DJ were friends for a long time before they met Laura. IIRC, the three just hung out for a while before Laura ever picked up the bass. They're from Texas, but I can't remember if it's Austin or Houston. Mark & Laura both wear wigs on stage & in interviews. Mark is huge fan & student of world music and draws inspiration from a lot of far & middle east genres.
The entire KEXP performance - and the one for Pitchfork - are sublime. Great background music. They did a collaboration with Leon Bridges in 2022 that's just wonderful.

Oh my goodness! Khruangbin is one of my favorite bands! Nothing like them!❤❤
This singer looks super familiar, kexp is the best place to find the best, unique music. Good choice.

Houston, I believe.

Smooth, meditative. I’d just close my eyes and listen and float. It’s peaceful! I like it! 💜💜💜
