Then we have RDRII, it had crashes on launch and a horrible TAA implementation, literally vegetation looks awful on the console version. The Series S version is perceptually smoother, showing that if you are well south of 60 fps, it's way better to target a locked 30 fps, rather than have an inconsistent mess. And no, I don't believe it's time for more powerful consoles. These consoles are hardly being fully utiized. That's evident by examining other games that are tuned for much tighter frame-time budgets than seen in the example given, AND the constant performance improvements being made to engines like Unreal Engine 5. Current consoles have been off to a frustratingly slow start(can also blame the slow development of next-gen game engines), but it's a mistake to think that we're seeing anywhere close to their full potential. Even GTA 6 will only have represented Rockstar's first major attempt at developing on these consoles. Think of how much they'd have learned during that time, allowing them to push the hardware even further on their second/third attempt. That's how it goes.
Bit of both. It's the "Console" side based on the Tech used in it... Xbox using more Standard while the PS5 is using Experimental. And the Optimizing side come down to how Easy it is to program on Said system.
I think a lot of this is not so much the box but the game itself, how much detail is in the game, how well it’s optimized, and sometimes just the vision for the game itself can impact frames per second. If for instance there’s not a lot going on in your game world then the games, powered by the new consoles, are more likely to run at 60 fps. But if you decided to make your game world super detailed and everything have its own weight and geometry that interacts with rest of Gameworld (ie Starfield) then you’re sucking up bandwith that can zap frames. In those respects, sometimes Frame Rates are a choice, again im looking at your Starfield.
This has nothing to do with PS6... what are you talking about.... This is a eurojank type double A type of game and its just not well optimized. Thats the reason. Its just one of those you check back to a few months from now when it probably run a lot better.
This is probably a bad take but I don't see much of an issue with 40 fps, its more than playable. However, studios really need to figure it out and optimize their games.
The problem is optimization and over scoping of the games (like devs picking wrong were to invest the computing, memory and bandwidth budget of their games, for example immortals of aveum or whatever it's called using the absurdly heavy feature set of Unreal like lumen when their games is linear and static and would work just fine with pre computed lighting). Games like Jedi Survivor that came out absolutely garbage, them got patch that substantially improved the experience and made them playable at least. Them you have games like Spider-Man 2, Horizon Forbidden West, Demon's Souls, etc than offer substantial graphical upgrades compared to last gen, run silk smooth and at 60FPS. Them you have games like Metro Exodus offering ray tracing global illumation on consoles at 60FPS (if I'm not mistaken). Sure Unreal 5 initial release was very single thread heavy and that was destroying performance, and Epic have improved that. But devs also are not optimizing their games at launch to meet deadlines, make the problem worse. Jedi Survivor had garbage performance even with the best gaming CPU available on the market right now and a 4090. And the 4090 is probably the GPU target Sony is aiming for the PS6 given that the PS5 Pro is already shooting at 30% or so of it's performance (if you count teraflops alone). So they can make path tracing (like Cyberpunk) or ray tracing global illumation at least standard in the industry to cut development cost down, not having to pay for thousands of men power to set-up and optimize lighting in scenes in games. So giving more power to devs will accomplish nothing right now. Thankfully Epic seems to be optimizing Unreal 5 much more so things should start to improve in this half final leg of the generation.
You don’t think Outcast 2 is going to be that good? Why? Is that solely based on performance issues that you mention? I always thought those types of things could eventually be patched. But you can’t patch in fun factor and game design? Those are the facets that’s should carry the game, over performance, at least in long term when judging good vs bad game?

The problem with the industry today is that every time new technology comes out these developers prioritize eye candy and overwhelmingly stunning graphics at the cost of playable smooth frame rates. They don’t care about the longevity of the game more than they care about getting awards and accolades. It’s all about a paycheck at the end of the day. It’s extremely annoying. This is why people say PC is the best option for gamers.
It's all deliberate. The same every console generation and people always fall for it. When the new console comes out they always advertise the specs and for the first couple years that's what you'll get and then it all starts to go downhill and by the end of the generation they need to sell you a new console that does 4K 60 again.
This is the state of all these gaming companies release a half ass product, with barely any optimization because they need to release the game asap to profit and they'll just patch it later 10 times, because they have already conditioned gamers that it's normal to buy an incomplete product and just update it later.
I'm just gonna point out that the Xbox series x is the most powerful console of all time (on paper) but the ps5 has better frame rate and performance over all in almost every third party game
Its not a hardware problem it's a dev optimization problem and a company problem for overworking and underpaying devs and in many cases treating them like crap, remeber how great the games at end of the xbox 360 and ps3 era looked? Devs managed to get every last bit of power on those consoles and many of those games still hold up today especially if you simply boost their resolutions to a base of 1080p or even 1440p and give them 60fps they feel refreshing to pkay, in the case of this game way better more demanding looks games have been released even on last gen and those games don't have these problems.
Optimisation sucks on these newer titles some of these run on my pc at 60fps native 1440P and then some older titles which i say look better run 1440P120fps its just insane how half the performance has gone for maybe 5% graphical fidelity and you can make the game look like a PS2 game and then it still doesn’t get 120fps
Brother, its not the consoles... Have you seen forbidden west? That thing runs 60fps and the graphics are insane. If forbidden west , last of us can run at 60fps there is no reason for a game like this not to run at 4k 60. Look at any playstation exclusive.. and think twice
Too many unfinished games being launched because devs can now abuse “updates” to fix it and the whole early access thing that many times are disguised as a full game. It won’t be different with future consoles unless they change this malpractice. Best solution is to try our best to not buy games on day one or preorder.
nah the problem is that games got quite CPU heavy and the consoles have outdated low power CPUs with reduced cache. you see this especially when playing UE5 games. on PC you get a better performance with a GPU which isn't as good as the ones in the consoles because the console CPU is limiting the system.
I think your issue is that you assume that the developers Target goal was to make the game stable when in reality they probably sacrificed every bit of performance in order to make everything ooh pretty pew pew which is big problem that particularly Western game developers have. It's kind of like how Bethesda releases broken games and then 2 years later the community for those games actually patch it so that it can actually run and work.
I think the problem of gaming industry now are not for new console or graphic cards but optimization

Which game is that?
PS6 (RDNA 4) vs AMD Radeon RX 8000 (RDNA 4).. who will win faster?
We won’t know until it releases
This is probably a bad take but I don't see much of an issue with 40 fps, its more than playable. However, studios really need to figure it out and optimize their games.
Major issue is these devs are forgot about optimization.
Miss the days of ps3 and earlier being able to play up any game just fine
What!?! Framerates were all over the place on PS3 lol.
And triple A and Quadruple A dev confused why games like lethal company were successful hits
En XSS tiene 30 fps pero es muy disfrutable y cuenta con una calidad grafica genial.
No way, outdated at launch and weak hardware performs outdated and weak.
Who would've known...
I don't get you,, I never have ANY PROBLEMS.. YOU NEED NEW SET UP DOWN TO YOUR WIFI 😂😂
I really do not mind playing games at 30 fps, unless we're talking about multi-player and Souls-likes
With a game like this (non-competitive) (online) 30 FPS is perfectly fine
Time for devs to put their shit together, that's what
You don’t think Outcast 2 is going to be that good?
30fps in 4k for $300 is crazy value
Next gen? meanwhile - Nintendo: hold my beer.
Can’t wait for ps5 pro patch !
When did this game come out?
15.03.2024
It's all deliberate. The same every console generation and people always fall for it. When the new console comes out they always advertise the specs and for the first couple years that's what you'll get and then it all starts to go downhill and by the end of the generation they need to sell you a new console that does 4K 60 again.
This is the state of all these gaming companies release a half ass product, with barely any optimization because they need to release the game asap to profit and they'll just patch it later 10 times, because they have already conditioned gamers that it's normal to buy an incomplete product and just update it later.
Bro u described a optimisation issue not a hardware issue the game still clearly isn’t fully optimised that’s down to its devs
Bro the next gen consoles are powerful enough to run at 60fps the got damn devs just need to better optimize their games
Ps5 va a ir mejor q series x en fps ya q S/X le dedica recursos al Quik resume q es algo q veo inesesario
Time for playstation 6 ❌️
Stop releasing half made games that devs dont have time to optimize for at absurd prices ✅️
The fact that a superior machine like the series x its under performing in comparison to the ps5 it shows is a optimization problem.
I hate the fact that they blame the consul for it. In all reality it has to do with optimization…
If tears of the kingdom can run on a tablet there should be no excuse for Sony or Microsoft
all i can say is devs are pushing too much in their games without caring about optimization and the specs that are able to run them
most games play 60fps no problem
They have good optimisation
This game has terrible optimisation
They should fire the devs
it's not the consoles,it's the developers 😂
Just Reduce the triangle we don't need triangles that need 8k textures
Brother, its not the consoles... Have you seen forbidden west? That thing runs 60fps and the graphics are insane. If forbidden west , last of us can run at 60fps there is no reason for a game like this not to run at 4k 60. Look at any playstation exclusive.. and think twice
Too many unfinished games being launched because devs can now abuse “updates” to fix it and the whole early access thing that many times are disguised as a full game. It won’t be different with future consoles unless they change this malpractice. Best solution is to try our best to not buy games on day one or preorder.
So glad i moved to pc at least i can get a constant 60fps
The problem is the optimization. Devs know exactly the hardware they are working on…
nah the problem is that games got quite CPU heavy and the consoles have outdated low power CPUs with reduced cache. you see this especially when playing UE5 games. on PC you get a better performance with a GPU which isn't as good as the ones in the consoles because the console CPU is limiting the system.
Xbox needs to make games optimised for the series x alone instead of tryna meet in the middle of both systems
It looks great on my Xbox series X I have no issues
we need devs to stop being lazy and thinking everyone wants to use DLSS, FSR or other frame generation and actually optimize and care for their games
I think your issue is that you assume that the developers Target goal was to make the game stable when in reality they probably sacrificed every bit of performance in order to make everything ooh pretty pew pew which is big problem that particularly Western game developers have. It's kind of like how Bethesda releases broken games and then 2 years later the community for those games actually patch it so that it can actually run and work.
this isn’t an issue regarding hardware its an issue regarding development of games
It’s not the consoles. It’s optimization. Been playing it on my pc 3080 ssd blah blah. Still frame drops stutters.
I was really hoping more games from last gen would get 60fps updates. This generation of console gaming has been pretty disappointing.
I recall beast pcs struggling to run cyberpunk until it was "OPTIMIZED" by the devs. My guy you have no idea what you're talking about.
People seem to look for all the negatives in a AA title like this. Trust me, the devs know and a patch update is inbound..
Love ps5💙💙💙💙 love Xbox series x 💙💚💚💚💚💚💚😍😍😍👑👑👑👑
