How funny I was just getting ready to post the same thing about my Grandmother! Those wonderful memories came to me today as I wwwwaaaaas listening to Nadia's theme song!
This was the era of Y&R that explored the lives of ordinary people and working-class families. However by 1980 when the show expanded to a full hour, the emphasis changed and that's when the show shifted its focus and began to introduce rich, upwardly mobile characters.
@@roefully - Very true. The rich were in and that was reflected in both daytime and primetime soap operas of this era. Unfortunately in doing so, Y&R lost a segment of it's stroytelling scope by choosing to concentrate on one type/group of characters.
@@woohooboy My guess is that the writers were following the lead of Guiding Light head writers Jerome and Bridget Dobson, who'd expanded The Guiding Light to an hour in 1977 and introduced the wealthy Spaulding family that same year
This was my favorite opening in all of Y&R -- the line drawings of the faces but easily read. They went to such wispy drawings after this you couldn't even tell who the people were some of the time.

The actress who played Leslie was absolutely beautiful.
I actually think she's more beautiful now than I did at the time. She's a stunner for sure.
Jill Foster Abbott is the only character from the beginning of Y&R who was never written out.
Katherine as well
The side by side of the shows title printed in blue on the left & sketch drawings on the right was from 1974-83

I thought I was the only one! I didn’t care for the drawing opening and it was difficult to make out who was who.
There was a opening posted a few years back from 1976, with Janice Lynde's Leslie at the beginning and Stuart, Jennifer and Peggy at the end.
Has this full episode been posted somewhere?

Who is the man to the right of Katherine?
@ stixnatedogg - John McCook who played Lance Prentis
Eric Forrester from The Bold and the Beautiful!
Didn't some of the earliest intro's have an artists hand drawing the characters' faces while the theme played?
No that was in the 80’s. I believe they did the hand drawings around 1983 until 1989.
