    With the way they designed the arm, having multiple joints and the first joint from the rail seems to rotate like industrial robots...I wouldn't be surprised if someday they could add animations for LARrE to be able to rotate 90 degrees and pick/place from horizontal chutes and machines.

      I should be able to do that now quite simply with the printer stack. New logistics is on the to do list.

  • @jakubpollak2067
    @jakubpollak2067 3 месяца назад +6

    Can you limit "stack" size to make it pick up one item somewhere in code?
    We need LARrE's sibling "STAnLEY" (Simple Tracked Automaton & Loading EntitY), which can rotate position effector straight (same as LARrE), or bent 90° and also rotate around at 90° increments
    It needs to replace batteries, filter, canisters, press buttons/flip switches (for making useless machine) and interact with stuff as microwave, small fridge etc.

    • @jakubpollak2067
      @jakubpollak2067 3 месяца назад +3

      If STAnLEY was made to push buttons,
      then code would be "telling him what buttons to push, how long to push them, and in what order"
      Quite a parable :D

      in the dev example world they used conveyors fed via a stacker with a stack size of 1 in order to pick up individual items, I haven't had chance to check it out myself yet, but that would suggest to me that LARrE can't pick up partial stacks

    • @evyunov

      @Antarez666, not even player character can pick up partial stacks, to be honest.

      Nothing that I can see. But LARrE could take it to a stacker and split it to the required stach size.

    With chutes I wanted to do the following: the coal from the autominer come into the store. But I want that 1 coal go to left, then 2 coal goes to right.
    With this you can do something similar.
    With chutes you can do that different objects goes to different line. But with LaRrE the same object can goes to different lines.

    In the spirit of ridiculous setups, can you create a wind tunnel to collect anything on the floor into an input chute and then get Larre to pick stuff out at the end?

    Right now he is little more than a Harvie+ with slightly extra functionality that is better handled by chutes.

    Could placing furnace after track allow bypassing of orange hotbox, enabling direct item insertion?
    I'm guessing no vertical or diagonal track for multi level.
    How long till you use this to fully automate a garden?

    • @cowsareevil7514

    Not LARrE (aka Larry) related, but... would it be possible to run the advanced furnace on liquid fuel? Since you have a good resource in this now test world, perhaps something to explore?

    • @WolfPlaysGames2
      @WolfPlaysGames2 3 месяца назад

      What's the use-case for that? Colder inputs would reduce performance.

    • @CrinosAD
      @CrinosAD 3 месяца назад

      @@WolfPlaysGames2 Liquid is a lot more dense than gas, so you would need less of it to heat up the furnace to required temperatures than the traditional gas/fuel mix.

    • @WolfPlaysGames2
      @WolfPlaysGames2 3 месяца назад +1

      @@CrinosAD Less Volume, yes. But you would need more moles (mass). The energy released is 572kJ per mole of O2 (2x moles of Volatiles). If you start at a lower temperature, you would need more energy to reach the target temperature and therefore more moles of fuel.
      You can change volume easily, but moles is the real limiting factor since you can't get more without external inputs. The only use-case where volume is a real constraint is in a rocket. That's where you want to use liquids...

    am i completely missing the point here? Besides looking fun, i fail to see what it adds to the game at this point.
    Only new thing i saw was grabbing items and beeing able to drop them on the floor.
    Everything else can be done with shutes or harves.
    What did i miss?

    • @WolfPlaysGames2
      @WolfPlaysGames2 3 месяца назад +1

      At the moment? It's a way to reduce infrastructure. You can replace dozens of Harvies, a handful of sorters, and miles of chutes with a Larre and some rail. Mick's suggestion of food manager that delivers food to an oven automatically and selects what stocks are low and plants them - it can be done with sorters and chutes and lots of code, but it's so hideously complicated and messy that Mick's never attempted it.
      Plus the fertilizer use is a bonus.
