They have explained a bit of why the backstories of people becoming demon slayers are mostly tragic and similar in Season 1 during the Hashira annual meeting . Its hard to recruit people to become demon slayer if they dont have the deep motivation other than monetary or like Mitsuri wanting to be useful to people because she has special talent i.e. bring especially strong and nimble as its a really dangerous job.
They explain the sheathing thing in one of the post credit thingys. I don't know if it was already shown. But if you see it, there is no more wondering. You are welcome.
15:25 He's not literally saying "he's in the zone" in the Japanese dialogue. He just said that his condition is really good at that moment for some reason. Probably cause he just awakened his mark.
14:15Because Oda got a talent for connecting the backstory to the current events of the arc, and you see how the characters overcome their trauma . In demon slayer, it's like here is a very depressing back story. Anyway, let's get back to the fight.
About Muichuro and his brother. I have 2 theories. First, I agree with you, that he was actually the cruel brother and his kind brother saved him. Or second, he never had a brother, that it was a manifestation he made up to help him survive. His amnesia shows he's already suffered from mental damage, I think the loss of both his parents forced him to need to grow up, so he created a 'stronger' version of himself that would look out for him.
@@houseofactionIkr. The author couldn't make it clearer. It's not a mystery, or unsolved question, or anything like that. He's just trying to invent a conspiracy out of thin air.

Strange theory... It sounded like that demon came there looking for a fight and was disappointed. That was NOT a random Encounter that was a HIT. Muzan Is actively trying to eradicate every drop of the sun breather bloodline. The woodcutter branch of the family tree was known because the master's wife was there actively recruiting.. Remember, Tokito is still younger than Tanjiro, and became a Hashira in 2 months. @paratil2566 Nitpick much? When you're dealing with a family tree over a 1000 years old it is as near as you can get. It's also only what the anime openly stated. It's the direct bloodline in any case.
@@johannesbowers7467 Well if you're going to state "the boy is a direct descendant of the sun breather" it's factually incorrect. Maybe don't be wrong?
@houseofaction thank you both for your Manga Spoilers. That is not the point. Muichiro is an actual member of the Sun Breather Bloodline. Tanjiro is not. Wars have been fought in this world over less of a lineage connection. The Anime Only position is limited to what has been told to us so far. Yes, Demon Slayer is FULL of "unreliable narrator" untruths and half truths, but the POINT that a bloodline connection factually exists for Muichiro and does NOT for Tanjiro is well established.
11:58 I mean, “be better demon slayers” as a motivation makes sense as to why the Hashira are the best of the best demon slayers. Their singular focus grown out of the tragedy of their traumatic backstories makes sense. I think the arc of most of them involves either being changed by the empathy of Tanjiro (ie Tokito) or Tanjiro being changed by some aspect of them (ie Rengoku). I’m reminded of hard core vampire slayers like Blade that for a large portion of their life all they have is The Hunt and the drama comes when that changes. Not every vampire hunter has as much room in their life for hijinks as Buffy…
I was also not quite sure what they were going for with the Twin. Personally I took it as: When he lost his memories he became like his asshole twin, and when he regained his memories he became his optimistic self again.
this arc really loses me with how not dangerous the upper ranks feel. last arc we had a pair of demons that almost killed all of our team AND destroyed an entire town, but here we've only seen these upper ranks kill a small handful of people between them, and then we get muichiro killing one whilst barely breaking a sweat. and i get that muichiro is meant to be WAY stronger than tengen, but it just feels vert unfulfilling as a viewer to see that de-escalation of danger.
I generally agree with that take, felt very underwhelming especially after the Entertainment District Arc. But i did see a comment that changed my view just a bit on how the upper moons should be approached and made season 3 a little less underwhelming for me: The upper ranks aren't only ranked in strength but usefulness, loyalty and intelligence. Gyutaro was way stronger and had more bloodlust than probably all the demons (i havent read the manga so idk) but he may have lacked intelligence and usefulness since he just recided the the entertainment district for hundreds of years. Gyokko may not have been as strong but he was loyal, and smart. So smart that he discovered the village that had been kept a secret from demons for centuries! This makes me feel just a little less judgemental towards upper 4 and 5 but in the end i still feel like they could have been a bit more scary and dangerous.
Actually the author said that they had the intention in the manga, to make the effects not real and just visualisation for the readers. But they also said that in the anime everyone can decide for themselves, because the figths are a little different and those effects have a different ... effect on the viewing. Everyone just likes to forget the second part...
Yeah you hitting the Demon Slayer burnout. The show is fun to watch sure but there is barely any depth to it really. It’s a very generic battle shonen.

I think the series has inplemented the backstories pretty good. Though with this season, it could be the weakest of that.
