- When I was playing the original Resident Evil trilogy, folks told me I HAVE to play Dino Crisis. I know it took a bit, but here we finally are!
I struggled a bit here and there, but I loved it nonetheless.
DINO CRISIS (1999)
"The story follows Regina, a special operations agent sent with a team to investigate a secluded island research facility. Finding the place overrun with dinosaurs, Regina must fight through the facility to discover its secrets and ultimately escape alive with her team."

14:59 Seriously, I have always _loved_ how much personality the localization and voice actress, Stephanie Morgenstern, gave Regina. They went with "jaded and quirky with a macabre sense of gallows humor," which honestly makes sense for a professional special forces operative. They also managed to make her feel kind of "classy," for lack of a better word. She feels more-educated and "put together" than Claire or Jill over in RE did, which is an impressive bit of character work with such limited technology. ....And yes, 18-year-old me had a crush. She was definitely part of the whole "early-'90s-to-mid-'00s redhead phase" that popular nerd culture went through.
Capcom improved a lot the voice acting since RE 1

Fun fact: This was the first Capcom survival horror game to use fully 3D enviroments and not pre rendered backgrounds, those 2D backgrounds came back in Dino Crisis 2

25:07 if there’s anything that I remember from playing this game it’s this specific track. It was so eerie and the synth made it suspenseful and this is a quirk of mine but I would always start playing air keyboard whenever I hear this track lol

I've played this game back in its time, but now I'm just realizing how good graphics it has for a PS1 game. They chose stuff right and managed it right. Maybe in the top 10 really.

Did anyone mention Onimusha when you were playing the OG Resident Evil games? That's another Resident Evil but not game. It's like Resident Evil but in feudal Japan with samurai fighting demons instead of zombies. & they just announced a new entry in the series is on the way at the game awards.
Not that I'd remember, but after the GOTY announcements folks mentioned it.

25:36: pretty much, yes. You can find boxes like that one in different areas of the facilities. If you use a plug on this box, you can access whatever medical supplies are stored in it if you open another box in another area. There are other boxes for weapons (red colored). Some of them need more than just 1 plug.
26:41: lol... Cooper is the guy who got eaten by the T-Rex at the very beginning. Tough luck. They have no idea.

Dinocrisis was amongst the very first games I played on the Playstation. Back then, I was just a little kid with no clue of the language (native spanish speaker here) and that would cause me to get stuck at times until I figured out whatever I had to do. I do remember I leaned more towards Rick than Gail in the story tho.
It's been ages since I played this one. I will make it a point to watch your whole playthrough. The voice acting is superb.
I had a similar issues with many games - playing them in English with no English skills (German here).
I was mostly leaning towards Rick as well!

Loving this playthrough. This game got a bit lost under the popularity of RE and SH, but it's really good.

Dino Crisis 2 is also awesome and even has a bit more action.😊
I like Dino 2 a bit better, I really like pre rendered backgrounds

@@hope_iv-dislikesic6539 Yeah but Dino 2 has better combat and I prefer pre rendered backgrounds a lot more. Also, it had more action than 1 but kept the creepy atmosphere
@ agreed it was still creepy and I’ll agree with the pre rendered backgrounds.. but for me I don’t know why 1 just leaves a sweet taste 😂

I remember playing this but getting to a part where you’re locked outside being attacked by a t-Rex while that guy is trying to open the door. I wasted all my ammo shooting that thing not knowing i was supposed to just wait. Made me give up as a kid and never came back to it

Very nice choice of game. I remember this being a really good atmosphere and gameplay with of course Jurassic Park vs Resident Evil theme from the maker of RE1. The second game (though still being very good) was by someone else and more a direct copy of RE while the first part does not have fixed camera angels. It is moving 3D and has a lot of cool original mechanics.

I vaguely recall the game on normal being a little harder than re1&2 normal but not at the level of hard for those two (I totally get your frustration with re3 not having a regular normal mode of course)

Always admired Dino Crisis but I believe what makes the game so hard when in comparison to Resident Evil was it's learning curve. The game definitely doesn't hold hands. Somewhat off topic: Another cool RE clone from back in the day was Parasite Eve. It was a unique hybrid between survival horror and RPG.
Der 2. Teil ist auch cool, die Hintergründe sind zwar wieder wie bei Resi vorgerendert statt 3d aber sieht gut aus... Auch die Story, was ja viel wichtiger ist, ist cool... Der 3. Teil auf der alten Xbox war aber müll... Die Musik im ersten Teil ist genial... Immer auf voller Anspannung...❤
