    You speak 90% correct. practice the word ng, -ng as the connector, and word with consecutive vowels like "Maaalala mo pa ba?" It's not read as "MAAA" its "MA/A/A/LA/LA mo pa ba?" Which means "will you ever remember?"

    You’re so cute learning in speaking Tagalog. You will become famous in the Philippines when you go their because Filipino people loves foreigners regardless of color. They treat with Kindness and Respect. In the Philippines Staring at someone isn’t rude. They just eager and interested to know about you and want to make friend with you by staring or looking at. It’s pleasant to ears when a foreigner speaks Tagalog.❤

    Killin it, man lol. Ngl using "Kinagagalak kitang makilala" in regular convo would sound a bit weird unless you're from the 60s/ 70s but it would still be impressive to hear it from someone not Filipino. They would really appreciate your efforts and would def put smiles in their faces. Everyone in the comment section is already finding it amazing that you're trying, man. Imagine if you actually start using them when you're already in the country. Good work, Gabriel. 🔥🔥🔥
    N.B. It's somewhat useless to learn Tagalog numbers since 90 percent of FIlipinos don't really use them. They use English. Focus on learning conversational Tagalog and street slangs, that'll blow their minds lol.

    You're doing well actually. Your pronunciation and accent is so good!❤️ Just take it lightly, Filipino words are just pronounced the way it is written 🥰. A lot of the phrases taught by the Girl in the video are actually too formal and are rarely used or none at all like "Ikinagagalak ko po kayong makilala"- which means nice to meet you- This is found only in books, movies, series or Historical film but not in the modern times. And for daily use the simplest phrases are used by Filipinos 👍 you can learn the formal easier if you start with the informal👍

    Tagalog has words that run fast but most are slow phased, some words are identically spelled but changes meaning on how its pronounced, a short line is indicated above the vowel or so to indicate if the word or part of it is to be said with rising intonation or falling intonation. Like the word "Gabi", in 11:17 when you mentioned the word in Taglog its a leafy plant. Gabi as she pronounced is the word for evening / night

    the reason why people say the full name is the build of getting to know, it's a relationship you wanna have more of formal way not the casual one. It's very important because for many reasons like security, personal relationship and Introducing you to other people if ever. if a father ask her daughter who is she with, they'll never say, Gabriel? Look who is he? It most be the whole name so the father trust her daughters word, plus there are many gabriel in the world, it's better to be more specific.

    Tips:
    1. To practice pronunciation, syllabicate: [ ma - ra - ming | sa - la - mat | po ] A syllable in Filipino, which also applies to most of the other languages in the PH, contains only one vowel
    >>> ku - mus - ta | a - ko | po | si | Gabriel
    2. Once you get used to it, try to know where the stressed syllable is. For every syllable in CAPS slightly raise your chin:
    >>> ku - mus - TA {?} a - KO | po | si | Gabriel {.} ma - RA - ming | sa - LA - mat | po {.}
    >>> ma - gan - DANG | A - raw | po {.} ma - gan - DANG | u - MA - ga | po {.} ma - gan - DANG | HA -pon | po {.} ma - gan - DANG | ga - BI | po {.} hang - GANG | sa | mu - LI {.} pa - A - lam {!}
    >>> mag - KA - no | po | i - TO {?}

    The best way to learn niyo language is not by learning whole sentence but by reading the singular word fluently. then when making sentences just mimic filipino accent like a mockery and you'll pick it up cuase you conciously copy the accent. The mimic technique is good when used in mimicking sentences.

    I always tip my hat to those who are learning different languages for i completely know how gargantuan it is to aquire a language that are ridiculously different from your native language.
    I've been acquiring English for almost 3 years now, and i ain't gon lie it isn't straight forward, not to mentiond i ain't got no one to talk to using this language, but over the course of a certain amount of time, I've managed to let's say conversationally fluent.. And I would say throughout my learning journey, acquiring things that you're passionate about is quite satisfying tho difficulties are inevitable.
    Anyways thank you so much for this video, this really made my day.

    Just learn the basics and off you go. Filipinos are at ease with the English language. Even if some can't speak it fluently, they can understand you well when you interact with them. That's why we've got Taglish (combination of Tagalog and English) which is a natural thing in the Filipino language nowadays. By the way, you're doing well. Keep it up.

  • @teresitasuiza9276

    It is not common to ask for forgiveness by saying “patawarin mo ako” in Tagalog. Nowadays, we only say sorry po. What Erica is teaching you is too formal. Filipinos are used to combine english and tagalog in every conversation. It is seldom that we say magandang umaga po. We always say good morning po. We usually converse in informal tagalog, not as formal as Erica is teaching in this video.

    • @dannyluv78

      But those ("Sorry po!" and "Good morning po!") are technically already not in Filipino nor in Tagalog that are usually and commonly taught to us Filipinos and even to non-Filipinos, which is usually and commonly a more or the official, academic or educational, literary, formal and/or national and standard or standardized and codified form, dialect, version, variety or variant of Filipino and/or Tagalog that doesn't mix in a lot of English words, phrases, clauses, sentences, expressions, idioms, etc., and those ("Sorry po!" and "Good morning po!") are technically already in Taglish or Englog language code-switching and code-mixing between English and Filipino and/or Tagalog.
      He can just learn Taglish or Englog informally when he's already in the Philippines, or when he communicates with any of us by any other means or ways even if or while he's not in the Philippines, which is how we Filipinos usually and commonly learn how to communicate in Taglish or Englog, and that is through informal language education and acquisition that doesn't need to be learned from an educational video about the Filipino language (the national language, one of the two official languages, and the national lingua franca or national common language of the Philippines and of most Filipinos and some non-Filipinos, which is basically and practically the Tagalog language with a few to some influences and contributions from the other languages of the Philippines and some foreign languages that formerly, newly or continously influences and contributes to the Filipino language itself and the other languages of the Philippines, which includes the Tagalog language) like the video from FilipinoPod101, or about the Tagalog language (the native, indigenous or autochthonous, ethnic or ethnolinguistic, regional, local and official auxiliary language that makes up, composes or comprises most to almost all of the Filipino language).
      Also, he's technically learning the Filipino language from the video of FilipinoPod101, not Taglish or Englog and also technically not Tagalog.
      Another also, I didn't comment this comment to tell you that you're entirely wrong, in my opinion. Your comment is mostly right, in my opinion. It's just that I just comment this to add and share info that I know based on your comment, to clear some things up from or about your comment, and to share my opinions on or about and based on your comment. Again, this comment are just my opinions and just based on what I know.

    For your info, Sir Gabriel (are you a LATINO?), FILIPINOS are familiar also or are using SPANISH for numbers (numeros).
    So, if your lost in Filipino numbers, feel free to say the numbers in Spanish.
    1 - Uno, 2 - Dos, 3 - Tres, 4 - Cuatro, 5 - Singko (or Cinco), 6 - Sais, 7 - Siete, 8 - Otso (Ocho), 9 - Nueve, 10 - Diyes (or Diez), 11 - Onse, 12 - Dose, 13 - Trese, 14 - Katorse, 15 - Kinse (or Quince) 16 - Desii-sais, 17 - Desi-siete, 18 - Desi-otso, 19 - Dedi-nueve, 20 - Bente (or Veinte), 30 - Trenta, 40 - Kwarenta (cuatenta), 50 - Singkwenta (or Cincuenta), 60 - Saisenta, 70 - Sitenta, 80 - Otsenta, 90 - Nuventa, 100 - Siyento.
    For numbers after the "tens", you just add "y + numbers from 1~9)
    Ex: 21 - Bente y uno; - dos, etc.
    For hundreds after 100 (Siyento), 200...900, use the regular numbet + siyentos.
    Ex: 200 - Dos Siyentos. For higher than 200, just add the correct number to number + siyentos.
    Ex: 235 - Dos Siyentos Trenta y Singko, etc.

    The key to learning filipino language is if you are not american, stick to your own roots like if you are Spanish or from Latin america. When you pronounce a word avoid slanging the vowels and read it in syllables to properly say the word. Then, learn it by phrase and always talk to a filipino in filipino to practice and to learn fast.

Tagalog and English words mix altogether to emphasise your thought process. Filipinos are resilient in reading between the lines and picking up your point of view. I wish you all the best.

    You're doing well, Gabriel. Just keep listening and saying the words or phrases and you'll learn faster. Repetition will make pronunciation easier.

    So proud, as a Filipino Canadian, to see you try to learn our National Language Tagalog. If I may add, try to learn the Filipino alphabet. It will help you pronounce the words as if you are a real pinoy.

      Just use numbers in english dude.
      And do english sentence and just add po at the end.
      Like "excuse me po"
      "Sorry po"

    You know Gabriel , if you go to the Philippines , the Filipinos can speak English. So don’t worry about it. Let me tell you something. My niece went to the Philippines and she was trying to buy a bus ticket in Tagalog. Since it’s not her language and she’s from here in USA, she had a hard time to communicate. Finally the lady told her to speak in English since English is the
    medium of instruction in the Philippines.

    when you speak tagalog, you sound like another reactor, efra herrera, brother of waleska herrera; both are from latin america (venezuela). good luck on your journey in learning filipino (tagalog). as a person whose background is latin, your pronounciation is much closer to our pronounciation, unlike english speakers from north america and europe. when in doubt, use english + po. haha
